Joshua 23

Ioſhúa exhorteth the people, that they ioyne not thẽ ſelues to the Gentiles, 7 That they name not their idoles. 14 The promes, if they feare God, 15 And threatnings, if they forſake him.
.ANd along ſeaſon after that ye Lord had giuen reſt vnto Iſraél from all their enemies round about, & Ioſhúa was olde, and " ſtriken in age,
.Then Ioſhúa called all Iſraél, & their Elders, and their heades, and their iudges, and their officers, and ſaid vnto them, I am olde, & ſtriken in age.
.Alſo ye haue ſene all that the Lord your God hathe done vnto all theſe nacions a before you, how the Lord your God him ſelfe hathe fought for you.
.Beholde, I haue " deuided vnto you by lot theſe nacions that remaine, to be an inheritance according to your tribes, from Iordén, with all the nacions that I haue deſtroyed, eué vnto ye great Sea " Weſtward.
.And the Lord your God ſhal expel b thẽ before you, & caſt them out of your ſight, and ye ſhal poſſeſſe their land, as the Lord your God hathe ſaid vnto you.
.Be ye therefore of a valiant courage, to obſerue and do all that is written in the boke of the Lawe of Moſés, * that ye turne not therefrom to the right hand nor to the left,
.Nether company with theſe naciós: that is, with them which are c left with you, nether make * mencion of the name of their gods, d nor cauſe to ſweare by them, nether ſerue them, nor bowe vnto them
.But ſticke faſt vnto the Lord your God, as ye haue done vnto this day.
.For the Lord hathe caſt out before you great nacions and mighty, and no man hath ſtand before your face hetherto.
.* One man of you ſhal chaſe a thouſand: for the Lord your God, he fighteth for you, as he hathe promiſed you.
.Take good hede therefore vnto your ſelues, that ye loue the Lord your God.
.Els, if ye go backe, and cleaue vnto the reſt of theſe nacions: * that is * , of them that remaine with you, and ſhal * make ma:ia- ges with them, and * go vnto them, & they to you,
.Knowe ye for certeine, that the Lord your God wil caſt out no more of theſe nacions from before you: * but they ſhal be a ſnare and deſtruction vnto you, and a whip on your ſides, and thornes in your * eyes, vntil ye periſh out of this good land, which the Lord your God hathe giuen you.
.And beholde, this day do I f entre into the way of all the world, and ye knowe in all your g heartes and in all your ſoules, that * nothing hathe failed of all the good things which the Lord your God promiſed you, but all are come to paſſe vnto you: nothing hathe failed thereof.
.Therefore as all * good things are come vpon you, which the Lord your God promiſed you, ſo ſhal the Lord bring vpon you euerie * euil thing, vntil he haue deſtroyed you out of this good land, which the Lord your God hathe giuen you.
.When ye ſhal h tranſgreſſe the couenant of the Lord your God, which he cõmanded you, and ſhal go, and ſerue other gods, and bowe your ſelues to them, then ſhal the wrath of ye Lord waxe hote againſt you, and ye ſhal periſh quickly out of the good land which he hathe giuen you.
