Joshua 24

Ioſhúa rehearſeth Gods benefites, 14 And exhorteth the people to feare God. 25 The league renued betwene God and the people. 29 Ioſhua dyeth. 32 The bones of Ioſeph are buryed 33 Eleazár dyeth.
.ANd Ioſhúa aſſembled a againe all the tribes of Iſrael to Shechém, & called the Elders of Iſrael, and their heades, and their iudges, and their officers, & they preſented them ſelues before b God.
.Then Ioſhúa ſaid vnto all the people, Thus ſaith the Lord God of Iſraél, * Your fathers dwelt beyonde the c flood in olde time, * euen Térah the father of Abrahám, and the father of Nachór, and ſerued other gods.
.And I toke your father Abrahám from beyõde the flood, & broght him through all the land of Canáan, and multiplied his ſede, and * gaue him Izhák.
.An * I gaue vnto Izhák, Iaakób & Eſáu: and I gaue vnto * Eſáu mount Seír, to poſſeſſe it: but * Iaakób and his children wẽt downe into Egypt.
.* I ſent Moſés alſo and Aarón, and I plagued Egypt, & whẽ I had ſo done among them, I broght you out.
.So I * broght your fathers out of Egypt, & ye came vnto the Sea, & the Egyptiãs purſued after your fathers with charrets and horſemen vnto * the red Sea.
.Then they cryed vnto the Lord, and he put * a darcknes betwene you & the Egyp- tians, and broght the Sea vpon them, and couered them: ſo your eyes haue ſene what I haue done in Egypt: alſo ye dwelt in the wildernes d a long ſeaſon.
.After I broght you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt beyonde Iordén, * and they fought with you: but I gaue thẽ into your hand, and ye poſſeſſed their countrey, and I deſtroyed them out of your fight.
.* Alſo Balák the ſonne of Zippór King of Moáb aroſe and warred againſt Iſraél, and ſent to call Balaám the ſonne of Beór for to curſe you,
.But I wolde not heare Balaám: therefore he bleſſed you, and I deliuered you out of his hand.
.And ye went ouer Iordén, and came vnto Ierichó, and the e mẽ of Ierichó fought againſt you, the Amorites, & the Perizzi- tes, & ye Canaanites, and the Hittites and the Girgaſhites, the Hiuites and the Iebuſites, and I deliuered them into your hand.
.And I ſent * hornets before you, which caſt them out before you, euen the two Kings of the Amorites, * & not with thy ſworde, nor with thy bowe.
.And I haue giuen you a land, wherein ye did not labour, and cities which ye buylt not, & ye dwel in them, & eat of the vineyardes and oliue trees, which ye planted not.
.Now therefore f feare the Lord, & ſerue him in vprightenes and in trueth, and put away the gods, which your fathers ſerued beyonde the flood and in Egypt, and ſerue ye the Lord.
.And * if it ſeme euil vnto you to ſerue the Lord, chuſe you this day g whome ye wil ſerue, whether ỹ gods which your fathers ſerued (that were beyonde the flood) or the gods of the Amorites, in whoſe land ye dwel: but I and mine houſe wil ſerue the Lord.
.Then the people anſwered and ſaid, God forbid, that we ſhulde forſake the Lord, to ſerue other gods.
.For the Lord our God, he broght vs and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the houſe of bondage, and he did thoſe great miracles in our ſight, and preſerved vs in all the way that we went, and among all the people through whome we came.
.And the Lord did caſt out before vs all the people, euẽ the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore wil we alſo ſerue the Lord, h for he is our God.
.And Ioſhúa ſaid vnto the people, Ye can not ſerue yͤ Lord: for he is an holy God: he is a ielous God: he wil not pardō your iniquitie nor your ſinnes.
.If ye forſake the Lord and ſerue ſtrange gods, * thē he wil returne & bring euil vpō you, and conſume you, after that he hathe done you good.
.And the people ſaid vnto Ioſhúa, Nay, but we wil ſerue the Lord.
.And Ioſhúa ſaid vnto the people, Ye a-re witneſſes i againſt your ſelues, that ye haue choſen you the Lord, to ſerue him:& they ſaid, We are witneſſes.
.Then put away now, ſaid he, the ſtrange k gods which are among you, & bow your hearts vnto the Lord God of Iſraél.
.And the people ſaid vnto Ioſhúa, The Lord our God wil we ſerue, and his voyce wil we obey.
.So Ioſhúa l made a couenant with the people the ſame day, and gaue them an or-dinance and lawe in Shechém.
.And Ioſhúa wrote theſe wordes in the boke of the Lawe of God, and toke a great ſtone, and pitched it there vnder an " oke that was in the Sanctuarie of the Lord.
.And Ioſhúa ſaid vnto all the people, Be-holde, this ſtone ſhalbe a witnes vnto vs: for it m hathe heard all the wordes of the Lord which he ſpake with vs: it ſhalbe therefore a witnes againſt you, leſt ye de-ny your God.
.Thē Ioſhúa let the people departe, eue-rie man vnto his inheritance.
.And after theſe things Ioſhúa the ſonne of Nun, the ſeruant of the Lord dyed, be-ing an hundreth and ten yeres olde.
.And they buryed him in yͤ border of his inheritance in * Timnath-ſeráh, which is in mount Ephráim, on the Northſide of mount Gáaſh.
.And Iſraél n ſerued the Lord all the day-es of Ioſhúa, and all the dayes of the El-ders that ouerliued Ioſhúa, & which had knowen all the workes of the Lord that he had done for Iſraél.
.And the * bones of Ioſéph, which the children of Iſraél brought out of Egypt, buryed they in Shechém in a parcel of grounde which Iaakób boght of the * ſon-nes of Hamór the father of Shechém, for an hundreth pieces of ſiluer, and the chil-dren of Ioſéph had them in their inheri-tance.
.Alſo Eleazár the ſonne of Aarón dyed, whome they buryed in " the hil of Phine-hás his ſonne, which was giuen him in mo-unt Ephráim.
