Deuteronomy 7

The Iſraelites may make no couenant with the Gentiles. 5 They muſt deſtroy the idoles. 8 The electiõ depẽdeth on the fre loue of God. 19 The experience of the power of God oght to confirme vs. 25 To auoide all occaſion of idolatrie.
.WHen the Lord thy God ſhal bring thee into the land whither thou goeſt to poſſeſſe it, * & ſhal roote out manie nacions before thee: the Hittites, and the Girgaſhites, & the Amorites, & the Canaanites, & the Perizzites, & the Hiuites, and the Iebuſites, ſeuen naciõs greater and mightier then thou,
.And the Lord thy God ſhal giue them a before thee, then thou ſhalt ſmite them: thou ſhalt vtterly deſtroy thẽ : thou ſhalt make no * couenant with them, nor haue compaſſion on them,
.Nether ſhalt thou make mariages with them, neither giue thy daughter vnto his ſonne nor take his daughter vnto thy ſonne.
.For they wil cauſe thy ſonne to turne a " way from me, & to ſerue other gods: then wil the wrath of the Lord waxe hote againſt you and deſtroy thee ſodenly.
.But thus ye ſhal deale with them, b Ye ſhal ouerthrowe their altars, and breake downe their pillers, and ye ſhal cut downe their groues, & burne their grauen images with fire.
.* For thou art an holy people vnto the Lord thy God, * the Lord thy God hathe choſen thee, to be a precious people vnto him ſelfe, aboue all people that are vpon the earth.
.The Lord did not ſet his loue vpon you, nor choſe you, becauſe ye were mo in nomber then anie people: for ye were the feweſt of all people:
.But becauſe ye Lord c loued you, & becauſe he wolde kepe the othe which he had ſworne vnto your fathers, the Lord hathe broght you out by a mighty hand and deliuered you out of the houſe of bondage from the hand of Pharaóh King of Egypt,
.That thou maieſt knowe, d that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God wc kepeth couenant and mercie vnto them that loue him and kepe his commandements, euen to a thouſand generacions,
.And rewardeth e them to their face that hate him, to bring them to deſtruction: he wil not differre to rewarde him that hateth him, to his face.
.Kepe thou therefore the commandements, and the ordinances, and the lawes, which I commande thee this day to do them.
.¶ For if ye hearken vnto theſe lawes, and obſerue and do them, then the Lord thy God ſhal kepe with thee the couenant, & the f mercy which he ſware vnto thy fathers.
.And he wil loue thee, and bleſſe thee, & multiplie thee: he wil alſo bleſſe the frute of thy wombe, and the frute of thy land: thy corne and thy wine, and thine oyle & the increaſe of thy kine, and the flockes of thy ſhepe in the land, which he ſware vnto thy fathers to giue thee.
.Thou ſhalt be bleſſed aboue all people: * there ſhalbe nether male nor female barren among you, nor among your cattel.
.Moreouer, the Lord wil take away from thee all infirmities, and wil put none of the euil diſeaſes of * Egypt (which yu knoweſt) vpon thee, but wil ſend them vpon all that hate thee.
.Thou ſhalt therefore conſume all people which the Lord thy God ſhal giue thee: g thine eie ſhal not ſpare them, nether ſhalt thou ſerue their gods, for that ſhalbe thy * deſtruction.
.If thou ſay in thine heart, Theſe nacions are mo then I, how can I caſt them out?
.Thou ſhalt not feare them, but remember what ye Lord thy God did vnto Pharaóh, and vnto all Egypt:
.The great tentacions " which thine eyes ſawe, and the ſignes and wonders, and the mightie hand & ſtretched out arme, whereby the Lord thy God broght thee out: ſo ſhal the Lord thy God do vnto all the people, whoſe face thou feareſt.
.* Moreouer, the Lord thy God wil ſend h hornettes among them vntil they that are left, and hide them ſelues from thee, be deſtroied.
.Thou ſhalt not feare them: for the Lord thy God is among you, a God mighty & dreadful.
.And the Lord thy God wil roote out theſe nacions before thee by litle and litle: thou maiſt not conſume them at once, leſt the beaſtes of the field increaſe vpon thee.
.But the Lord thy God ſhal giue them i before thee, and ſhal deſtroy them with a mighty deſtruction, vntil they be broght to noght.
.And he ſhal deliuer their Kings into thine hand, and thou ſhalt deſtroy their name from vnder heauen: there ſhal no man be able to ſtand before thee, vntil thou haſt deſtroied them.
.The grauen images of their gods ſhal ye burne with fire, and * couet not the ſiluer and golde, * that is * on them, nor take it vnto thee, leſt thou k be ſnared therewith: for it is an abominacion before the Lord thy God.
.Bring not therefore abominacion into thine houſe, leſt thou be accurſed like it, but vtterly abhorre it, and counte it moſte abominable: for it is * accurſed.
