Deuteronomy 28

2 The promiſes to them that obey the commandements 15 The threatenings to the contrarie
1.IF * thou ſhalt obey diligently the voyce of the Lord thy God, and obſerue and do all his commandemẽts, which I com-mande thee this day, then the Lord thy God wil a ſet thee on high aboue all the nacions of the earth.
2.And all theſe bleſſings ſhal come on thee, and b ouertake thee, if thou ſhalt obey the voyce of the Lord thy God.
3.Bleſſed ſhalt thou be in the c citie, & bleſ-ſed alſo in the field.
4.Bleſſed ſhal be the frute d of thy body, & the frute of thy ground, and the frute of thy cattel, the increaſe of thy kine, & the flockes of thy ſhepe.
5.Bleſſed ſhalbe thy baſket and thy dough.
6.Bleſſed ſhalt thou be, when e thou comeſt in, and bleſſed alſo when thou goeſt out.
7.The Lord ſhal cauſe thine enemies that riſe againſt thee, to fall before thy face: they ſhal come out againſt thee one way, & ſhal flee before thee f ſeuen wayes.
8.The Lord ſhal commande the bleſſing to be with thee in thy ſtore houſes, & in all that thou ſetteſt thine g hand to, and wil bleſſe thee in the land which the Lord thy God giueth thee.
9.The Lord ſhal make thee an holy people vnto him ſelfe, as he hathe ſworne vnto thee, if thou ſhalt kepe the commãdemẽts of the Lord thy God, and walke in his waies.
10.Thẽ all people of the earth ſhal ſe that ye Name of the Lord is h called vpon ouer thee, and they ſhalbe afraid of thee.
11.And the Lord ſhal make thee plenteous in goods, in the frute of thy body, & in the frute of thy cattel, and in the frute of thy ground, in the land which the Lord ſware vnto thy fathers, to giue thee.
12.The Lord ſhal open vnto thee his good treaſure, euen the i heauẽ to giue rayne vn-to thy land in due ſeaſon, and to bleſſe all the worke of thine hands: and thou ſhalt lend vnto many nacions, but ſhalt not bo-rowe thy ſelf.
13.And the Lord ſhal make thee the head, and not the " tayle, and thou ſhalt be abo-ue onely, and ſhalt not be beneth, if thou obey the commandements of the Lord thy God, which I commãde thee this day, to kepe and to do them.
14.But thou ſhalt not decline from anie of the wordes, which I commande you this day, either to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to ſerue them.
15.* But if thou wilt not obey the voyce of the Lord thy God, to kepe and to do all his commandements & his ordinances, wc I commmande thee this day, thẽ all theſe curſes ſhal come vpon thee, and ouertake thee.
16.Curſed ſhalt thou be in the towne, and curſed alſo in the field.
17.Curſed ſhal thy baſket be, & thy " dough.
18.Curſed ſhalbe ye frute of thy body, and ye frute of thy land, the increaſe of thy kine, & the flockes of thy ſhepe.
19.Curſed ſhalt thou be when thou comeſt in, and curſed alſo when thou goeſt out.
20.The Lord ſhal ſend vpon thee curſing, trouble, and " ſhame, in all that which thou ſetteſt thine hand to do, vntil thou be de-ſtroyed, and periſh quickely, becauſe of ye wickednes of thy workes whereby thou haſt forſaken me.
21.The Lord ſhal make the peſtilence clea-ue vnto thee, vntil he hathe cõſumed thee from the land, whether thou goeſt to poſ-ſeſſe it.
22.* The Lord ſhal ſmite thee with a con-ſumption, and with ye feauer, and with a burning ague, and with feruent heat, and with the " ſword, and with blaſting, and with the mildewe, and they ſhal pur-ſue thee vntil thou periſh.
23.And thine heauẽ that is ouer thine head, ſhalbe k braſſe, and the earth that is vnder thee, yron.
24.The Lord ſhal giue thee for the raine of thy land, duſt and aſhes: euen from " hea-uen ſhal it come downe vpon thee, vntil thou be deſtroyed.
25.And the Lord ſhal cauſe thee to fall before thine enemies : thou ſhalt come out one way againſt them, and ſhalt flee ſeuen wayes before them,and ſhalt be l ſcatered through all the kingdomes of the earth.
26.And thy m carkeis ſhal be meat vnto all foules of the ayre, and vnto the beaſtes of the earth, and none ſhal fray them away.
27.The Lord wil ſmite thee with yͤ botche of Egypt,and with the emeroides,& with the ſkab, and with the itche, that thou canſt not be healed.
28.And the Lord ſhal ſmite thee with madnes,and with blindnes, & with aſtonying of heart.
29.Thou ſhalt alſo grope at noone daies,as the n blinde gropeth in darckenes,& ſhalt not proſper in thy waies: thou ſhalt neuer but be oppreſſed with wrong, & be polled euermore & no man ſhal ſuccour thee.
30.Thou ſhalt betrothe a wife, & another man ſhal lie with her:thou ſhalt buylde an houſe, and ſhalt not dwel therein : thou ſhalt plant a vineyarde and ſhalt not " eat the frute.
31.Thine oxe ſhal be flayne before thine eies, and thou ſhalt not eat thereof: thine aſſe ſhalbe violently také away before thy face, and ſhal not be reſtored to thee: thy ſhepe ſhalbe giuen vnto thine enemies,& no man ſhal reſcue them for thee.
32.Thy ſonnes and thy daughters ſhalbe giuen vnto another people, and thine eies o ſhal ſtille loke for them,euen til they fall out, and there ſhal be no power in thine hand.
33.The frute of thy land & all thy labours ſhal a people,which thou knoweſt not,eat, and thou ſhalt neuer but ſuffer wrong,and violence alway:
34.So that thou ſhalt be mad for the ſight which thine eies ſhal ſe.
35.The Lord ſhal ſmite thee in the knees,& in the thighes, with a ſore botche, that thou canſt not be healed:euen fró the ſole of thy fote vnto the top of thine head.
36.The Lord ſhal bring thee & thy p King (which thou ſhalt ſet ouer thee) vnto a nacion, which nether thou nor thy fathers haue knowen, and there thou ſhalt ſerue other gods:euen wood and ſtone,
37.And thou ſhalt * be a wonder,a prouerbe & a cõmune talke among all people, whether the Lord ſhal cary thee.
38.* Thou ſhalt cary out muche ſede into yͤ field, and ſhalt gather but litle in : for the greſhoppers ſhal deſtroye it.
39.Thou ſhalt plante a vineyarde and dreſſe it,but ſhalt nether drinke of the wine, nor gather the grapes: for the wormes ſhal eat it.
40.Thou ſhalt haue oliue trees in all thy coaſtes,but ſhalt not anoint thy ſelf with the oyle:for thine oliues ſhal " fall.
41.Thou ſhalt beget ſonnes,and daughters, but ſhalt not haue them : for thei ſhal go into captiuitie.
42.All thy trees and frute of thy lãd q ſhal the greſhopper conſume.
43.The ſtranger that is among you, ſhal clime aboue thee vp on hye, & thou ſhalt come downe beneth alowe.
44.He ſhal lend thee, and thou ſhalt not lend him:he ſhalbe the head,& thou ſhalt be the taile.
45.Moreouer,all theſe curſes ſhal come vpon thee,and ſhal purſue thee and ouertake thee, til thou be deſtroyed, becauſe thou obeyedſt not the voyce of the Lord thy God, to kepe his commandements, & his ordinances,which he commanded thee:
46.And thei ſhalbe vpon r thee for ſignes and wonders,and vpon thy ſede for euer,
47.Becauſe thou ſeruedſt not the Lord thy God with ioyfulnes & with a good heart for the abundance of all things.
48.Therefore thou ſhalt ſerue thine enemies which the Lord ſhal ſend vpon thee, in honger and in thirſt,and in nakednes,and in nede of all things: & he ſhal put a yoke of yron vpon thy necke vntil he haue deſtroyed thee.
49.The Lord ſhal bring a nacion vpõ thee from far,euen from the end of the worlde, flying ſwift as an egle : a nacion whoſe tongue thou ſhalt not vnderſtand:
50.A nacion of a " fierce countenãce,which wil not regarde the perſone of the olde, nor haue compaſsion of the yong.
51.The ſame ſhal eat the frute of thy cattel,and the frute of thy land vntil thou be deſtroyed, and he ſhal leaue thee nether wheat,wine,nor oyle,nether the " increaſe of thy kyne, nor the flockes of thy ſhepe, vntil he haue broght thee to noght.
52.And he ſhal beſiege thee in all thy cities, vntil thine hye and ſtrong walles fall downe,wherein yͤ truſtedſt in all the land: and he ſhal beſiege thee in all thy " cities throughout all thy land, which the Lord thy God hathe giuen thee.
53.* And thou ſhalt eat the frute of thy bodie: euen the fleſh of thy ſonnes and thy daughters, which the Lord thy God hathe giuen thee, during the ſiege and ſtraitnes wherein thine enemie ſhal incloſe thee:
54.So that the man(that is tender and exceding deintie among you) * ſhalbe grieued at his brother and at his wife,that lyeth in his boſome,& at the remnant of his children,which he hathe yet left,
55.For feare of giuing vnto anie of them of the fleſh of his children,whome he ſhal eat, becauſe he hathe nothing left him in that ſiege, and ſtraitnes, wherewith thine enemie ſhal beſiege thee in all thy cities.
56.The tender and deintie s woman among you, which neuer wolde venture to ſet the ſole of her fote vpon the grounde (for her ſoftnes and tēdernes) ſhalbe grieued at her houſband, that lyeth in her boſome, and at her ſonne, & at her daughter,
57.And at her t afterbyrth (that ſhal come out from betwene her fete) and at her children, which ſhe ſhal beare: for whē all things lacke, ſhe ſhal eat them ſecretly, during the ſiege and ſtraitnes, wherewith thine enemie ſhal beſiege thee in thy cities.
58.¶If thou wilt not kepe and do u all the wordes of this Lawe (that are written in this boke) & feare this glorious & feareful Name THE LORD THY GOD,
59.Then the Lord wil make thy plagues wonderful, & the plagues of thy ſede, euen great plagues and of long continuance, & ſore diſeaſes, and of long durance.
60.Moreouer, he wil bring vpō thee all the diſeaſes of Egypt, whereof thou waſt afraied, and thei ſhal cleaue vnto thee.
61.And euerie sickenes, and euerie plague, which x is not written in the boke of this Lawe, wil the Lord heape vpon thee, vntil thou be deſtroyed.
62.And ye ſhalbe left fewe in nomber, where ye were as the * ſtarres of heauē in multitude, becauſe thou woldeſt not obey the voyce of the Lord thy God.
63.And as the Lord hathe reioyced ouer you, to do you good, & to multiplie you, ſo he wil reioyce ouer you, to deſtroye you, and bring you to noght, and ye ſhalbe rooted out of the land, whether thou goeſt to poſſeſſe it.
64.And the Lord ſhal y ſcatter thee amōg all people, frō the one end of the worlde vnto the other, and there thou ſhalt ſerue other gods, which thou haſt not knowen nor thy fathers, euen wood and ſtone.
65.Alſo amōg theſe nacions thou ſhalt finde no reſt, nether ſhal the ſole of thy fote haue reſt: for the Lord ſhal giue thee there a trembling heart, and loking to returne til thine eies fall out, & a ſorouful minde.
66.And thy life ſhal " hang before thee, and thou ſhalt feare bothe night and day, and ſhalt haue none aſſurance of thy life.
67.In the morning thou ſhalt ſay, Wolde God it were euening, and at euening thou ſhalt ſay, Wolde God it were morning, for the feare of thine heart, which thou ſhalt feare, and for the ſight of thine eies, which thou ſhalt ſe.
68.And the Lord ſhal bring thee into Egypt againe with z ſhippes by the way, whereof I ſaid vnto thee, Thou ſhalt ſe it no more againe: & there ye ſhal ſel your ſelues vnto your enemies for bondemen and bonde women, & there ſhalbe no byer.
