Deuteronomy 2

Iſraél is forbiddẽ to fight with the Edomites, 9 Moabites, 19 And Ammonites. 33 Sihón King of Heſhbón is diſcomfited.
.THen a we turned, and toke our iourney into the wildernes,by the waie of ye red Sea,as the Lord ſpake vnto me:and we compaſſed mount Seír a b long time.
.And the Lord ſpake vnto me,ſaying,
.Ye haue compaſſed this mountaine long ynough:turne you Northwarde.
.And warne thou the people, ſaying, Ye ſhal go through the c coaſt of your brethrẽ the children of Eſáu,which dwel in Seír,and they ſhal be afraid of you : take ye good hede therfore.
.Ye ſhal not prouoke them: for I wil not giue you of their land ſo muche as a fote breadth, * becauſe I haue giuẽ mount Seír vnto Eſáu for a poſſeſſion.
.Ye ſhal bye meat of them for money to eat, and ye ſhal alſo procure water of thẽ for money to drinke.
.For ye Lord thy God hathe d bleſſed thee in all ye workes of thine hãd: he knoweth thy walking through this great wildernes, & the Lord thy God hathe bene with thee this fortie yere, and thou haſt lacked nothing.
.And when we were departed fró our brethren the children of Eſáu which dwelt in Seír , through the way of the " plaine, from Eláth,& from Ezion-gáber, we turned and went by the way of the wildernes of Moáb.
.Then the Lord ſaid vnto me, Thou ſhalt not " vexe Moáb,nether prouoke them to battel: for I wil not giue thee of their lãd for a poſſeſſion, becauſe I haue giuen Ar vnto the children e of Lot for a poſſeſſió.
.The f Emíms dwelt therein in times paſt, a people great, & many, and tall, as the Anakíms.
.They alſo were taken for gyantes as the Anakims : whome the Moabites call Emíms.
.The Horíms alſo dwelt in Seír before time, whome the children of Eſáu chaſed out and deſtroyed them before them, and dwelt in their ſtede: as Iſraél ſhal do vnto the land of his poſſeſſion, which the Lord hathe giuen them.
.Now riſe vp,ſaid I, and get you ouer the riuer * Zeréd: and we went ouer the riuer Zeréd.
.The g ſpace alſo wherein we came from Kadeſh-barnéa vntil we were come ouer the riuer Zeréd,was eight and thirtie yeres, vntil all the generacion of the men of warre were waſted out from among the hoſte,as the Lord ſware vnto them.
.For in dede the h hand of the Lord was againſt them, to deſtroye them fró amõg the hoſte,til thei were conſumed.
.¶ So when all the men of warre were conſumed and dead from among the people:
.Then the Lord ſpake vnto me,ſaying,
.Thou ſhalt go through Ar the coaſt of Moáb this day:
.And thou ſhalt come nere ouer againſt the children of Ammón : but ſhalt not lay ſiege vnto them, nor moue warre againſt them: for I wil not giue thee of the land of the children of Ammón anie poſſeſſion : for I haue giuen it vnto the children of Lot for a poſſeſſion.
.That alſo was taken for a land i of gyants:for gyants dwelt therein a fore time, whome the Ammonites called Zamzummíms:
.A people that was great,& many, & tall, as the Anakíms : but the Lord deſtroyed them before them , & thei ſucceded them in their inheritance, and dwelt in their ſtede:
.As he did to the children of Eſáu which dwel in Seír, when he deſtroyed the Horíms before them, & thei poſſeſſed them, and dwelt in their ſtede vnto this day.
.And the Auíms which dwelt in Hazerím euen vnto " " Azzáh, the Caphtoríms which came out of Caphtor deſtroyed them, and dwelt in their ſtede.
.¶ Riſe vp therefore, ſaid the Lord :take your iourney, and paſſe ouer the riuer Arnón: beholde, I haue giuen into thy hand Sihón : the k Amorite, King of Heſhbón,and his land: begin to poſſeſſe it and prouoke him to battel.
.This day wil I l begin to ſend thy feare & thy dread, vpon all people vnder the heauens, which ſhal heare thy fame & ſhal tremble and quake before thee.
.Then I ſent meſſengers out of the wildernes of Kedemóth vnto Sihón King of Heſhbón,with wordes of peace,ſaying,
.* Let me paſſe through thy land : I wil go by the hie way:I wil nether turne vnto the right hand nor to the left.
.Thou ſhalt ſel me meat for money, for to eat,and ſhalt giue me water for money for to drinke : onely I wil go through on my fote,
.(As the m children of Eſáu which dwel in Seír, and the Moabites which dwel in Ar,did vnto me)vntil I be come ouer Iordén, into the land which ye Lord our God giueth vs.
.But Sihón the King of Heſhbón wolde not let vs paſſe by him : for the Lord thy God had n hardened his ſpirit, and made his heart obſtinat , becauſe he wolde deliuer him into thine hand, as appeareth this day.
.And the Lord ſaid vnto me, Beholde, I
.* Then came out Sihón to mete vs, him ſelf with all his people to fight at Iaház.
.But the Lord our God deliuered him " into our power, and we ſmote him, and his ſonnes, and all his people.
.And we toke all his cities the ſame time, & deſtroyed euerie citie, mé, & o women, & children: we let nothing remaine.
.Onely the cattel we toke to our ſelues, & the ſpoile of the cities which we toke,
.From Aroér, which is by the banke of the riuer of Arnón, & from yͤ citie that is vpó the riuer, eué vnto Gileád: there was not one citie that eſcaped vs: for the Lord our God deliuered vp all " before vs.
.Onely vnto the land of the children of Ammón thou cameſt not, nor vnto anie place of the " riuer Iabbók, nor vnto the cities in the mountaines, nor vnto whatſoeuer the Lord our God forbade vs.
