Deuteronomy 13

5 The inticers to idolatrie muſt be ſlaine, ſeme they neuer ſo holy. 6 So nere of kinred or frẽdſhip, 12 Or great in multitude or power.
1.IF there ariſe among you a prophet or a dreamer of a dreames, (& giue thee a ſigne or wondre,
2.And the ſigne and the wondre, which he hathe tolde thee, come to paſſe) ſayĩg, b Let vs go after other gods, which thou haſt not knowen, and let vs ſerue them,
3.Thou ſhalt not hearken vnto the wordes of ye prophet, or vnto that dreamer of dreames: for ye Lord your God c proueth you, to knowe whether ye loue the Lord your God wt all your heart, and wt all your ſoule.
4.Ye ſhal walke after the Lord your God & feare him, and ſhal kepe his commandements, and hearken vnto his voyce, and ye ſhal ſerue him, & cleaue vnto him.
5.But that prophet, or ye dreamer of dreames he ſhal d be ſlaine, becauſe he hathe ſpoken to turne you away from the Lord your God (wc broght you out of the land of Egypt, and deliuered you out of the houſe of bõdage) to thruſt thee out of the way, wherein the Lord thy God commãded thee to walke: ſo ſhalt thou take the euil away forthe of the middes of thee.
6.¶ If e thy brother, the ſonne of thy mother, or thine owne ſonne, or thy daughter, or the wife, that lieth in thy boſome, or thy frẽde, which is as thine owne f ſoule, entice thee ſecretly, ſaying, Let vs go and ſerue other gods, (which thou haſt not knowen, thou, I ſay, nor thy fathers)
7.Anie of the gods of the people which are rownde about you, nere vnto thee or far off from thee, from the one end of ye earth vnto the other:
8.Thou ſhalt not cõſent vnto him, nor heare him, nether ſhal thine eye pitie him, nor ſhewe mercie, nor kepe him ſecret:
9.But yu ſhalt euẽ kil him: g thine hãd ſhalbe firſt vpõ him to put him to death, & thẽ the hands of all the people.
10.And thou ſhalt ſtone him with ſtones, yͤ he dye (becauſe he hathe gone about to thruſt thee away fró the Lord thy God, which broght thee out of the land of E-gypt, from the houſe of bondage)
11.That * all Iſraél may heare & feare, & do no more anie ſuche wickednes as this a-mong you.
12.¶ If thou ſhalt heare ſay (concerning a-nie of thy cities which the Lord thy God hathe giuen thee to dwel in)
13." * Wicked men are gone out from amóg you, & haue drawen away yͤ inhabitáts of their citie, ſaying, Let vs go & ſerue other gods, which ye haue not knowen,
14.Then h thou ſhalt ſeke, & make ſearche & enquire diligently: and if it be true, & the thing certeine, that ſuche abomina-cion is wroght among you,
15.Thou ſhalt eué ſlaye the inhabitáts of yͤ citie with the edge of the ſworde: deſtroy it vtterly, & all that is therin, & the cat-tel thereof with the edge of the ſworde.
16.And i thou ſhalt gather all the ſpoile of it into the middes of the ſtrete thereof, & burne with fire the citie & all the ſpoile thereof euerie whit, vnto the Lord thy God: and it ſhalbe an heape for euer: it ſhal not be buylt againe.
17.And there ſhal cleaue nothing of yͤ k dáned thing to thine hād, yͤ the Lord maie turne from the fearcenes of his wrath, & ſhewe thee mercie, and haue compaſsion on thee and multiplie thee, as he hathe ſworne vnto thy fathers:
18.* When thou ſhalt obey the voyce of the Lord thy God, and kepe all his comman-dements which I commáde thee this day, that thou do that which is right in yͤ eies of the Lord thy God.
