Deuteronomy 12

2 To deſtroy the idolatrous places. 5.8 To ſerue God where he commandeth and as he commandeth, and not as men fantaſie. 19 The Leuites muſt be nouriſhed. 31 Idolaters burnt their children to their gods. 32 To adde nothing to Gods worde.
1.THeſe are the ordinances & the lawes, which ye ſhal obſerue and do in the land (which the Lord God a of thy fathers giueth thee to poſſeſſe it) as long as ye liue vpon the earth.
2.* Ye ſhal vtterly deſtroy all the places wherein the nacions which ye ſhal poſſeſſe, ſerued their gods vpon the hie mountaines & vpon the hilles, and vnder euerie grene tre.
3.* Alſo ye ſhal ouerthrowe their altars, & breake downe their pillers, & burne their b groues with fire: & ye ſhal hewe downe the grauen images of their gods, & aboliſh their names out of that place.
4.Ye ſhal c not ſo do vnto the Lord your God,
5.But ye ſhal ſeke the place which the Lord your God ſhal * choſe out of all your tribes, to put his Name there, & there to dwel, and thether thou ſhalt come,
6.And ye ſhal brīg thether your burnt offrings, and your ſacrifices, & your tithes, & the d offring of your hands, & your vowes, & your fre offrings & the firſt borne of your kine & of your ſhepe.
7.And there ye ſhal eat e before the Lord your God, and ye ſhal reioyce in all that ye put your hād vnto, bothe ye, & your houſholdes, becauſe the Lord thy God hathe bleſſed thee.
8.Ye ſhal not do after all theſe things ỹ we do f here this day: that is, euerie man whatſoeuer ſemeth him good in his owne eyes.
9.For ye are not yet come to reſt, & to ye inheritance w̃ the Lord thy God giueth thee.
10.But when ye go ouer Iordén, & dwel in the land, which the Lord your God hathe giuen you to inherit, & when he hathe giuen you reſt from all your enemies rounde about, & ye dwel in g ſafetie,
11.When there ſhalbe a place which ye Lord your God ſhal choſe, to cauſe his Name to dwel there, thether ſhal ye bring all that I commāde you: your burnt offrings, & your ſacrifices, your tithes, and the offring of your hands, and all your " ſpecial vowes which ye vow vnto the Lord:
12.And ye ſhal reioyce before ye Lord your God, ye, & your ſonnes & your daughters, & your ſeruants, and your maidens, and ye Leuite that is within your gates: * for he hathe no parte nor inheritance with you.
13.Take hede that thou offer not thy burnt offrings in euerie place that thou ſeeſt:
14.But in the place which the Lord ſhal h choſe in one of thy tribes, there thou ſhalt offer thy burnt offrings, and there thou ſhalt do all that I commande thee.
15.Notwithſtanding thou maiſt kil and eat fleſh in all thy gates, whatſoeuer thine heart deſireth, according to the i bleſſing of the Lord thy God which he hathe giuen thee: bothe the vncleane and the cleane may eat thereof, k as of the roe bucke, & of the hart.
16.Onely ye ſhal not eat ye blood, but powre it vpon the earth as water.
17.Thou maieſt not eat within thy gates the l tithe of thy corne, nor of thy wine, nor of thine oyle, nor ye firſt borne of thy kine, nor of thy ſhepe, nether anie of thy vowes which thou voweſt, nor thy fre offrings, nor the offring of thine hands;
18.But thou ſhalt eat it before the Lord thy God, in the place which ye Lord thy God ſhal choſe, thou, and thy ſonne, and thy daughter, and thy ſeruant, and thy maid, and the Leuite, that is within thy gates: and thou ſhalt reioyce before ye Lord thy God, in all that thou putteſt thine hand to.
19.* Beware, that thou forſake not the Leuite, as long as thou liueſt vpon the earth.
20.¶ When the Lord thy God ſhal enlarge thy border, * as he hathe promiſed thee, and thou ſhalt ſay, I wil eat fleſh, (becauſe thine heart lõgeth to eat fleſh) thou maiſt eat fleſh, whatſoeuer thine heart deſireth.
21.If the place which the Lord thy God hathe choſe to put his Name there, be far from thee, thẽ thou ſhalt kil of thy bullockes, and of thy ſhepe which the Lord hathe giuen thee, as I haue commanded thee, & thou ſhalt eat in thy gates, whatſoeuer thine heart deſireth.
22.Euen as the roe bucke and the hart is eaten, ſo thou ſhalt eat them: bothe the vncleane & the cleane ſhal eat of thẽ alike.
23.Onely be " ſure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood m is the life, and yu maiſt not eat the life with the fleſh.
24.Therefore thou ſhalt not eat it, but powre it vpon the earth as water.
25.Thou ſhalt not eat it, that it may go wel with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou ſhalt do that which is right in the fight of the Lord:
26.But thine n holy things which thou haſt, and thy vowes thou ſhalt take vp, and come vnto ye place which ye Lord ſhal choſe.
27.And thou ſhalt make thy burnt offrings of the fleſh, and of the blood vpon the altar of the Lord thy God; and the blood of thine offrings ſhal be powred vpon the altar of the Lord thy God, & thou ſhalt eat the fleſh.
28.Take hede, and heare all theſe wordes which I command thee, yt it may go o wel with thee, and with thy children after thee for euer, when yu doeſt that which is good & right in the ſight of the Lord thy God.
29.¶ When the Lord thy God ſhal deſtroy the nacions before thee, whether thou goeſt to poſſeſſe them, & thou ſhalt poſſeſſe them and dwel in their land,
30.Beware, leſt thou be taken in p a ſnare after thẽ, after that they be deſtroyed before thee, & leſt thou aſke after their gods, ſaying, How did theſe nacions ſerue their gods, that I may do ſo likewiſe?
31.Thou ſhalt not do ſo vnto the Lord thy God: for all abominacion, which the Lord hateth, haue they done vnto their gods: for they haue q burned bothe their ſonnes and their daughters with fire to their gods.
32.Therefore whatſoeuer I commande you, take hede you do it: * thou ſhalt put nothing thereto, nor take oght therefrom.
