Deuteronomy 14

1 The maners of the Gentiles in marking thē selues for the dead, may not be folowed. 4 What meates are cleane to be eaten, and what not. 29 The tithes for the Leuite, stranger, fatherles, and widowe.
1.YE are the children of the Lord your God. * Ye ſhal not cut your ſelues, nor make you anie baldnes betwene your eies for the dead.
2.* For thou art an holy people vnto yͤ Lord thy God, & the Lord hathe choſen thee to be a a precious people vnto him ſelfe, aboue all the people that are vpon the earth.
3.¶ Thou ſhalt eat no maner of abomina-cion.
4.Theſe are the beaſts, b which ye ſhal eat, the befe, the ſhepe, and the goat,
5.The hart, & the roe bucke, and yͤ bugle, and the wilde goat, & the vnicorne, & the wilde oxe, and the chamois.
6.And euerie beaſt yͤ parteth the hoofe, and cleaueth yͤ clift into two clawes, and is of yͤ beaſts that cheweth yͤ cud, that ſhal ye eat.
7.But theſe ye ſhal not eat, of them that chewe the cud, and of them that deuide & cleaue yͤ hoofe onely: the camel, nor the ha-re, nor the cony: for they chewe the cud, but deuide not the hoofe: therefore they ſhalbe vncleane vnto you:
8.Alſo the ſwine, becauſe he deuideth the hoofe, & cheweth not the cud, ſhalbe vn-cleane vnto you: ye ſhal not eat of their fleſh, nor touche their dead carkeiſes.
9.* Theſe ye ſhal eat, of all that are in the waters: all that haue finnes and ſcales ſhal ye eat.
10.And whatſoeuer hathe no finnes nor ſca-les, ye ſhal not eat: it ſhalbe vncleane vn-to you.
11.¶ Of all cleane birdes ye ſhal eat:
12.But theſe are thei, whereof ye ſhal not eat: yͤ egle, nor yͤ goſhawke, nor yͤ oſprey,
13.Nor the glead nor the kite, nor the vul-ture, after their kinde,
14.Nor all kinde of rauens,
15.Nor the oſtriche, nor yͤ nightcrowe, nor yͤ " ſeameaw, nor the hawke after her kinde,
16.Nether the lytle owle, nor the great owle, nor the redſhanke,
17.Nor the pellicane, nor the ſwãne, nor yͤ cormorant:
18.The ſtorcke alſo, and the heron in his kinde, nor the lapwing, nor * the backe.
19.And euerie creping thing yͤ flieth, ſhalbe vncleane vnto you: it ſhal not be eaten.
20.But of all cleane foules ye may eat.
21.Ye ſhal eat of nothing that c dyeth alo-ne, but thou ſhalt giue it vnto the d ſtran-ger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it: or thou maieſt ſel it vnto a ſtráger: for thou art an holy people vnto yͤ Lord thy God. Thou ſhalt not * ſeeth a kid in his mothers milke.
22.Thou ſhalt e giue the tithe of all the increaſe of thy ſede, that commeth for-the of the field yere by yere.
23.And thou ſhalt eat before the Lord thy God (in the place which he ſhal choſe to cauſe his Name to dwel there) the tithe of thy corne, of thy wine, and of thine oy-le, and the firſt borne of thy kyne and of thy ſhepe, that thou maieſt learne to fea-re the Lord thy God alway.
24.And if the way be to long for thee, ſo that thou art not able to cary it, becauſe the place is far from thee, where the Lord thy God ſhal choſe to ſet his Name, f whẽ the Lord thy God ſhal bleſſe thee.
25.Then ſhalt thou make it in money, and " take the money in thine hand, and go vn-to the place which the Lord thy God ſhal choſe.
26.And thou ſhalt beſtowe the money for what ſoeuer thine heart deſireth: whe- ther it be oxe, or ſhepe, or wine or ſtrong drinke, or whatſoeuer thine heart deſireth: and ſhalt eat it there before yͤ Lord thy God, and reioyce, bothe thou, & thine houſholde.
27.And the Leuite that is within thy gates, ſhalt thou not forſake: for he hathe neither parte nor inheritance with thee.
28.¶ At the end of thre yere yͤ ſhalt h bring forthe all the tithes of thine encreaſe of yͤ ſame yere, & lay it vp within thy gates.
29.Then the Leuite ſhal come, becauſe he hathe no parte nor inheritance with thee, & the ſtranger, and the fatherles, and the widowe, which are within thy gates, and ſhal eat, and be filled, that the Lord thy God may bleſſe thee in all the worke of thine hand which thou doeſt.
