Deuteronomy 11

An exhortacion to loue God, and kepe his Lawe 10 The praiſes of Canáan. 18 To meditate continually the worde of God. 19 To teache it vnto the children. 26 Bleſſing and curſing.
.THerefore thou ſhalt loue the Lord thy God, and ſhalt kepe that, which he commandeth to be kept: that is, his ordinances, and his Lawes, and his commandements alwaie.
.And a conſider this day ( for I ſpeake not to your children, which haue nether knowne nor ſene ) the chaſtiſemēt of the Lord your God, his greatnes, his mightie hand, and his ſtretched out arme,
.And his ſignes, and his actes, which he did in the middes of Egypt vnto Pharaóh the King of Egypt, and vnto all his land:
.And what he did vnto the hoſte of the Egyptians, vnto their horſes and to their charets, when he cauſed the waters of the red Sea to ouerfloe them, as they purſued after you, and the Lord deſtroyed them vnto this day:
.And b what he did vnto you in the wildernes, vntil ye came vnto this place:
.And what he did vnto Dathán and Abirám the ſonnes of Eliáb the ſonne of Reubén, when the earth opened her mouth, and ſwallowed them with their houſeholdes and their tents, and all their ſubſtance that " thei had in the middes of all Iſraél.
.For your eies haue ſene all the great actes of the Lord which he did.
.Therefore ſhal ye kepe c all the commandements, which I commande you this day, that ye may be ſtrong, and go in and poſſeſſe the land whether ye go to poſſeſſe it:
.Alſo that ye may prolong your daies in the land, which the Lord ſware vnto your fathers, to giue vnto them and to their ſede, euen a land that floweth with milke and honie.
.¶ For the land whether thou goeſt to poſſeſſe it, is not as the land of Egypt, frō whence ye came, where thou ſowedſt thy ſede, and wateredſt it with thy " d fete as a garden of herbes:
.But the land whether ye go to poſſeſſe it, is a land of mountaines and valleis, & drinketh water of the raine of heauen.
.This land doeth the Lord thy God care for: the eies of the Lord thy God are alwaies vpon it, from the beginning of the yere, euen vnto the end of the yere.
.¶ If ye ſhal hearken therefore vnto my commandements, which I commande you this day, that ye loue the Lord your God & ſerue him with all your heart, and with all your ſoule,
.I alſo wil giue raine vnto your land in due time, e the firſt raine and the latter, that thou maieſt gather in thy wheat, and thy wine, and thine oyle.
.Alſo I wil ſend graſſe in thy fields for thy cattel, that thou maieſt eat, and haue ynough.
.But beware leſt your heart f deceaue you, and leſt ye turne aſide, and ſerue other gods, and worſhip them,
.And ſo ye angre of the Lord be kindled againſt you, and he ſhut vp the heauen, that there be no raine, and that your land yelde not her frute, & ye periſh quickly from
.¶ Therefore ſhal ye lay vp theſe my wordes in your heart & in your ſoule, & * binde them for a ſigne vpon your hand, yt they maie be as a frontelet betwene your eyes,
.And ye ſhal * teache them your children, ſpeaking of thē, when thou ſitteſt in thine houſe, and when thou walkeſt by the waie, and when thou lieſt downe, and when thou riſeſt vp.
.And thou ſhalt write them vpon the poſtes of thine houſe, & vpon thy gates,
.That your dayes maie be multiplied, & the dayes of your children, in the land w̃ the Lord ſware vnto your fathers to giue them, as long as g the heauens are aboue the earth.
.¶ For if ye kepe diligently all theſe commandements, which I commande you to do: that is, to loue the Lord your God to walke in all his waies, & to cleaue vnto hī,
.Then wil the Lord caſt out all theſe nacions before you, and ye ſhal poſſeſſe great nacions and mightier then you.
.* All the places whereō the foles of h your fete ſhal treade, ſhalbe yours: your coaſt ſhalbe from the wildernes and from Lebanón, and from the Riuer, euen the riuer Peráth, vnto the vttermoſt i Sea.
.No man ſhal ſtand againſt you: for the Lord your God ſhal caſt the feare and dread of you vpon all the lād that ye ſhal tread vpon, as he hathe ſaid vnto you.
.¶ Beholde, I ſet before you this day a bleſsing and a curſe:
.* The bleſsing, if ye obey the com̃adements of the Lord your God which I cōmande you this day:
.And ye curſe, if ye wil not obey the cōmandements of the Lord your God, but turne out of the way, which I commande you this day, to go after other gods, w̃ ye haue not k knowen.
.¶ Whē the Lord thy God therefore hathe broght thee into the land, whether thou goeſt to poſſeſſe it, then thou ſhalt put the * bleſsing vpon mount Gerizím, and the curſe vpon mount Ebál.
.Are they not beyonde Iordén on ye parte, l where the ſunne goeth downe in the land of the Canaanites, which dwel in the plaine ouer againſt Gilgál, beſide the " groue of Moréh?
.For ye ſhal paſſe ouer Iordén, to go in to poſſeſſe the land, which the Lord your God giueth you, and ye ſhal poſſeſſe it, & dwel therein.
.Take hede therefore that ye * do all the commandements and the lawes, which I ſet before you this day.
