Ezekiel 8

1 An appearance of the ſimilitude of God: 3 Ezechiel is broght to Ieruſalem in the ſpirit. 6 The Lord ſheweth the Prophet the idolatries of the houſe of Iſraél.
1.ANd in the ſixt yere, in the ſixt moneth, and in the fiſt day of the moneth, as I ſate in mine houſe, and the Elders of Iudáh ſate before me, the hand of the Lord God fel there vpon me.
2.Then I behelde, and lo, there was a likenes, as the appearance of fyre, to loke to, from his loynes downewarde, and from his loynes vpwarde, as the appearance of brightnes, and like vnto ambre.
3.And he ſtretched out the likenes of an hand, and toke me by an heerie locke of mine head, and the Spirit lift me vp betwene the earth, and the heauẽ, and broght me by a Diuine viſion to Ieruſalem, into the entrie of the inner gate that lieth toward the North, where remained the idole of indignation, which prouoked indignation.
4.And beholde, the glorie of the God of Iſraél was there according to the viſion, that I ſaw in the field.
5.Then ſaid he vnto me, Sonne of man, lift vp thine eyes now towarde ye North. So I lift vp mine eyes towarde the North, and beholde, Northwarde, at the gate of the altar, this idole of indignation was in the entrie.
6.He ſaid furthermore vnto me, Sonne of man, ſeeſt thou not what thei do? euen the great abominations that the houſe of Iſraél committeth here to cauſe me to departe from my Sanctuarie? but yet turne thee & thou ſhalt ſe greater abominations.
7.And he cauſed me to entre at the gate of the court: and when I loked, beholde, an hole was in the wall.
8.Then ſaid he vnto me, Sonne of man, digge now in the wall. And when I had digged in the wall, beholde, there was a dore.
9.And he ſaid vnto me, Go in, and beholde the wicked abominations that they do here.
10.So I went in, and ſawe, and beholde, there was euerie ſimilitude of creping things and abominable beaſtes and all the idoles of the houſe of Iſraél painted vpon the wall rounde about.
11.And there ſtode before them ſeuentie men of the Ancients of the houſe of Iſraél, and in the middes of them ſtode Iaazaniáh, the ſonne of Shaphán, with euerie man his cenſour in his hand, and the vapour of the incenſe went vp like a cloud.
12.Then ſaid he vnto me, Sonne of man, haſt thou ſene what the Ancients of the houſe of Iſraél do in the darke, euerie one in the chambre of his imagerie? for thei ſaie, The Lord ſeeth vs not, the Lord hathe forſaken the earth.
13.Againe he ſaid alſo vnto me, Turne thee againe, & thou ſhalt ſe greater abominations that thei do.
14.And he cauſed me to entre into the entrie of the gate of the Lords houſe, which was towarde the North: and beholde there ſate women mourning for Tammúz.
15.Then ſaid he vnto me, Haſt thou ſene this, ô ſonne of man? Turne thee againe, & thou ſhalt ſe greater abominacions then theſe.
16.And he cauſed me to entre into the inner court of the Lords houſe, and beholde, at the dore of the Temple of the Lord, betwene the porche and the altar were about fiue and twentie men with their backes towarde the Temple of the Lord, and their faces towarde the Eaſt, and thei worſhiped the ſunne, toward the Eaſt.
17.Then he ſaid vnto me, Haſt thou ſene this, ô ſonne of man? Is it a ſmale thing to the houſe of Iudáh to commit theſe abominaciõs wc thei do here? for thei haue filled the land with crueltie, and haue returned to prouoke me: and lo, thei haue caſt out ſtinke before their noſes.
18.Therefore wil I alſo execute my wráth: mine eye ſhal not ſpare them, nether wil I haue pitie, and thogh thei crye in mine eares with a loude voyce, yet wil I not heare them.
