Ezekiel 38

2 He prophecieth that Gog and Magog ſhal fight with great power againſt the people of God. 21 Their deſtruction.
1.ANd the worde of ye Lord came vnto me, ſaying,
2.Sonne of man, ſet thy face againſt Gog and againſt the land of Magóg, the chief prince of Méſhech and Tubál, & prophecie againſt him,
3.And ſay, Thus ſaith the Lord God, Beholde, I come againſt thee, ô Gog the chief prince of Méſhech and Tubál.
4.And I wil deſtroye thee, and put hokes in thy chawes, and I wil bring thee forthe, and all thine hoſte bothe horſes, and horſemen, all clothed with all ſortes of armour, euen a great multitude with buckelers, and ſhields, all handling ſwordes.
5.They of Parás, of Cuſh, and Phut with them, euen all they that beare ſhield and helmet.
6.Gomér and all his bandes, and the houſe of Togarmáh of the North quarters, and all his bandes, and muche people with thee.
7.Prepare thy ſelf, and make thee ready, bothe thou, and all thy multitude, that are aſſembled vnto thee, and be their ſauegarde.
8.After manie dayes thou ſha viſited: for in the latter yeres thou ſha come into the land, that hathe bene deſtroyed with the ſworde, and is gathered out of manie people vpon the moũtaines of Iſraél, which haue long lien waſte: yet they haue bene broght out of the people, and they ſhal dwell all ſafe.
9.Thou ſhalt aſcend and come vp like a tẽpeſt, & ſhalt be like a cloude to couer the land, bothe thou, and all thy bandes, & manie people with thee.
10.Thus ſaith the Lord God, Euen at the ſame time ſhal manie things come into thy minde, and thou ſhalt thinke euil thoghts.
11.And thou ſhalt ſay, I wil go vp to the lãd that hathe no walled towres: I wil go to them that are at reſt, and dwell in ſafetie, which dwell all without walles, and haue nether barres nor gates,
12.Thinking to ſpoile the pray, and to take a bootie, to turne thine hand vpon the deſolate places that are now inhabited, and vpon the people, that are gathered out of the nations which haue gotten cattel and goods & dwell in the middes of the land.
13.Shebá and Dedán, and the marchantes of Tarſhiſh with all the lions thereof ſhal ſay vnto thee, Art thou come to ſpoile ye pray? haſt thou gathered thy multitude to take a bootie? to cary away ſiluer and golde, to take away cattel & goods, & to ſpoile a great pray?
14.Therefore, ſonne of man, prophecie, and ſay vnto Gog, Thus ſaith the Lord God, In ye day when my people of Iſraél dwelleth ſafe, ſhalt thou not knowe it?
15.And come from thy place out of the North partes, thou & muche people with thee? all ſhal ride vpon horſes, euen a great multitude and a mightie armie.
16.And thou ſhalt come vp againſt my people of Iſraél, as a cloude to couer the land: thou ſhalt be in the latter daies, and I wil bring thee vpon my land that the heathen may knowe me, when I ſhalbe ſanctified in thee, ô Gog, before their eyes.
17.Thus ſaith the Lord God, Art not thou he, of whome I haue ſpoken in olde time by the hand of my ſeruants the Prophetes of Iſraél which prophecied in thoſe dayes and yeres, that I wolde bring thee vpon them?
18.At the ſame time alſo whẽ Gog ſhal come againſt the land of Iſraél, ſaith ye Lord God, my wrath ſhal ariſe in mine angre.
19.For in mine indignation & in the fyre of my wrath haue I ſpoke it: ſurely at that time there ſhalbe a great ſhaking in the lãd of Iſraél.
20.So that the fiſhes of the ſea, & the foules of the heauen, and the beaſtes of the field and all that moue & crepe vpon the earth, and all the men that are vpon the earth, ſhal tremble at my preſence, & the mountaines ſhalbe ouerthrowen, & the ſtaires ſhal fall, and euery wall ſhal fall to the grounde.
21.For I wil call for a ſworde againſt him throughout all my mountaines, ſaith the Lord God: euery mans ſworde ſhal be againſt his brother.
22.And I wil pleade againſt him with peſtilence, and with blood, and I wil cauſe to raine vpon him and vpon his bandes, and vpon the great people, that are with him, a ſore raine, and haile ſtones, fyre, & brimſtone.
23.Thus wil I be magnified, and ſanctified, and knowen in the eyes of many nations, and thei ſhal knowe, that I am the Lord.

2:a.
Which was a people that came of Magog the ſonne of Iaphet, Gen 10, 2. Magog alſo here ſignifieth a certeine countrey, ſo that by theſe two countreis, ye had the gouernement of Greciã & Italiã, he meaneth the principal enemies of the Church, Reuel 20, 8

He ſheweth that the enemies ſhulde bend them ſelues againſt the Church, but it ſhulde be to their owne deſtruction.

The Perſiãs, Ethiopiãs and men of Aphrica.

Gomér was Iaphets ſonne, and Togarmáh the ſonne of Gomér, and are thoght to be they that inhabit Aſia minor.

Signifying, yt all the people of the worlde ſhulde aſſemble them ſelues againſt the Churche and Chriſt their head.

Or, meaning the land of Iſraél

That is, to moleſt, and deſtroye the Church.

One enemie ſhal enuie another becauſe eueryone ſhal thinke to haue the ſpoile of the Church

Shalt not yu ſpie thine occaſions to come againſt my Church, when they ſuſpect nothing?

Meaning, in the laſt age, and from the comming of Chriſt vnto ye end of the worlde

Signifying yt God wilbe ſanctified by mainteining his Church, and deſtroying his enemies, as Chap. 36, 23 & 37, 28

Hereby he declareth that none affliction can come to ye Church, whereof they haue not bene aduertiſed afore time, to teache thẽ to indure all things with more pacience when they knowe yt God hathe ſo ordeined,
