Ezekiel 17

10.Beholde, it was planted: but ſhal it proſper? ſhal it not be dryed vp, and wither? when the Eaſt winde ſhal touche it, it ſhal wither in the treches, where it grewe.
11.Moreouer, the worde of the Lord came vnto me, ſaying,
12.Say now to this rebellious houſe, Knowe ye not, what theſe things meane? tel them, Beholde, the King of Babél is come to Ieruſalém, and hathe taken the King thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babél,
13.And hathe taken one of the Kings ſede, and made a couenant with him, and hathe taken an othe of him: he hathe alſo taken the princes of the land,
14.That the kingdome might be in ſubiection, and not lift it ſelf vp, but kepe their couenant, and ſtand to it.
15.But he rebelled againſt him, and ſent his ambaſſadours into Egypt, that thei might giue him horſes, & muche people: ſhal he proſper? ſhal he eſcape, that doeth ſuche things? or ſhal he breake the couenant, & be deliuered?
16.As I liue, ſaith the Lord God, he ſhal dye in the middes of Babél, in the place of the King, that had made him King, whoſe othe he deſpiſed, and whoſe couenant made with him, he brake.
17.Nether ſhal Pharaóh with his mightie hoſte, & great multitude of people, mainteine him in the warre, when thei haue caſt vp mounts, and buylded ramparts to deſtroy many perſones.
18.For he hathe deſpiſed the othe, and broken the couenant (yet lo, he had giuen his hand) becauſe he hathe done all theſe things, he ſhal not eſcape.
19.Therefore, thus ſaith the Lord God, As I liue, I wil ſurely bring mine othe that he hathe deſpiſed, and my couenant that he hathe broken, vpon his owne head.
20.And I wil ſpread my net vpõ him, & he ſhalbe taken in my net, & I wil bring him to Babél, and wil entre into iudgement with him there for his treſpas that he hathe committed againſt me.
21.And all that fle from him with all his hoſte, ſhal fall by the ſworde, and thei that remaine, ſhal be ſcatered toward all ye windes: and ye ſhal knowe that I the Lord haue ſpoken it.
22.Thus ſaith the Lord God, I wil alſo take of the toppe of this hie cedre, and wil ſet it, and cut of the toppe of the tendre plante thereof, and I wil plante it vpon an hie mountaine and great.
23.Euen in the hye mountaine of Iſraél wil I plant it: and it ſhal bring forthe boughs and beare frute, and be an excellent cedre, and vnder it ſhal remaine all birdes, and euerie foule ſhal dwell in the ſhadowe of the branches thereof.
24.And all ye trees of the field ſhal knowe that I the Lord haue broght downe ye hye tre, and exalted the lowe tre, that I haue dryed vp the grene tre, and made the drye tre to floriſh: I the Lord haue ſpoken it, & haue done it.
