Ezekiel 11

1 Who thei were that ſeduced the people of Iſraél. 5 Againſt theſe he prophecieth, ſhewing them how thei ſhal be diſperſed abroade. 19 The renuing of the heart commeth of God. 21 He threateneth them that leaue vnto their owne counſels.
1.MOreouer, the Spirit lift me vp, and broght me vnto the Eaſt gate of the Lords Houſe, which lieth Eaſtward, and beholde, at the entrie of the gate were fiue, and twentie mẽ: amõg whome I ſawe Iaazaniáh the ſonne of Azúr, & Pelatiáh the ſonne of Benaiáh, the princes of ye people.
2.Then ſaid he vnto me, Sonne of man, theſe are the men that imagine miſchief, and deuiſe wicked counſel in this citie:
3.For thei ſay, It is not nere, let vs buylde houſes: this citie is the caldron, and we be the fleſh.
4.Therefore prophecie againſt them, ſonne of man prophecie.
5.And ye Spirit of the Lord fel vpon me, & ſaid vnto me, Speake, Thus ſaith ye Lord, O ye houſe of Iſraél, this haue ye ſaid, & I know that wc riſeth vp of your mindes.
6.Manie haue ye murthered in this citie, and ye haue filled the ſtretes thereof with the ſlaine.
7.Therefore thus ſaith the Lord God, Thei that ye haue ſlaine, and haue layed in the middes of it, thei are the fleſh; and this citie is the caldrō, but I wil bring you forthe of the middes of it.
8.Ye haue feared the ſworde, and I wil bring a ſworde vpon you, ſaith the Lord God.
9.And I wil bring you out of the middes thereof, and deliuer you into the hands of ſtrangers, and wil execute iudgements among you.
10.Ye ſhal fall by ẏ ſworde, & I wil iudge you in the border of Iſraél, and ye ſhal knowe that I am the Lord,
11.This citie ſhal not be your caldron, nether ſhal ye be the fleſh in the middes thereof, but I wil iudge you in the border of Iſraél.
12.And ye ſhal knowe that I am the Lord: for ye haue not walked in my ſtatutes, nether executed my iudgements, but haue done after the maners of the heathen, that are rounde about you.
13.¶And when I prophecied, Pelatiáh the ſonne of Benaiáh dyed: then fel I downe vpon my face & cryed with a loude voice, and ſaid, Ah Lord God, wilt thou then vtterly deſtroie all the remnant of Iſraél?
14.Againe the worde of the Lord came vnto me, ſaying,
15.Sonne of man, thy brethren, euen thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the houſe of Iſraél, wholly are thei vnto whome the inhabitants of Ieruſalém haue ſaid, Departe ye farre from the Lord: for the land is giuen vs in poſſeſsion.
16.Therefore ſay, Thus ſaith the Lord God, Althogh I haue caſt them farre of among the heathen, and althogh I haue ſcattered them among the countreis, yet wil I be to them as a litle Sanctuarie in the countreis where they ſhal come.
17.Therefore ſaie, Thus ſaith ẏ Lord God, I wil gather you againe from the people, & aſſemble you out of the countreis where ye haue bene ſcattered, and I wil giue you the land of Iſraél.
18.And thei ſhal come thether, and thei ſhal take awaie all the idoles thereof, and all ẏ abominations thereof from thence.
19.And I wil giue them one heart, and I wil put a newe ſpirit within their bowels: and I wil take the ſtonie heart out of their bodies, & wil giue them an heart of fleſh,
20.That thei maie walke in my ſtatutes, & kepe my iudgements, and execute them: and thei ſhal be my people, and I wil be their God.
21.But vpō thē, whoſe heart is toward their idoles, & whoſe affection goeth after their abominations, I wil laie their waie vpon their owne heades, ſaith the Lord God.
22.¶Then did the Cherubims lift vp their wings, and the wheles beſides them, and the glorie of the God of Iſraél was vpon them on hie.
23.And the glorie of the Lord went vp frō the middes of the citie, and ſtode vpon ẏ mountaine which is toward the Eaſt ſide of the citie.
24.Afterwarde the Spirit toke me vp and broght me in a viſion by the Spirit of God into Caldea to them ẏ were led awaie captiues: ſo the viſion that I had ſene, went vp from me.
25.Thē I declared vnto thē that were led awaie captiues, all the things that ẏ Lord had ſhewed me.

Thus the wicked derided the Prophetes, as thogh they preached but errors, & therefore gaue thẽ ſelues ſtil to their pleaſures

We ſhal not be pulled out of Ieruſalém, til the houre of our death come as ye fleſh is not take out of the caldrõ til it be ſod.

Cōtrarie to their vaine cōfidence he ſheweth in what ſenſe this citie is the caldrō: that is, becauſe of the dead bodies that haue bene murthered therein, and ſo lie as fleſh in the caldron

Thei ſhalbe yet a litle Church, ſhewing that the Lord wil euer haue ſome to call vpon his Name, whome he wil preſerue and reſtore, thogh thei be for a time afflicted:
