The Iſraelites come to the deſert of Sin, and murmure againſt Moſes and Aarón 13 The Lord ſendeth quales and Manna 27 The ſeuéth day Manna colde not be foúde. 32 It is kept for a remembrance to the poſteritie
.Afterward all the Cógregacion of yͤ children of Iſraél departed from Elim, and came to the wildernes of a Sin, (which is betwene Elim and Sinái) the fifteenth day of the ſeconde moneth after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
.And the whole Cógregació of the children of Iſraél murmured againſt Moſes and againſt Aaron in the wildernes.
.For the children of Iſraél ſaid to them, Oh yͤ we had dyed by the hand of yͤ Lord in the land of Egypt, when we ſate by yͤ fleſh b pottes, when we ate bread our bellies ful: for ye haue broght vs out into this wildernes, to kil this whole companie with famine.
.¶ Then ſaid the Lord vnto Moſes, Beholde, I wil cauſe bread to raine fró heauen to you, and the people ſhal go out, & gather that yͤ is ſufficient for euerie c day, that I may proue them, whether they wil walke in my Lawe or no.
.But the ſixt day they ſhal prepare that, which they ſhal bring home, and it ſhalbe twiſe as muche as they gather daiely.
.Then Moſes and Aarón ſaid vnto all the children of Iſraél, At euen ye ſhal knowe, that the Lord bróght you out of the land of Egypt:
.And in the morning ye ſhal ſe the glorie of yͤ Lord. d for he hathe heard your grudgings againſt the Lord: and what are we yͤ ye haue murmured againſt vs?
.Againe Moſes ſaid, At eué ſhal the Lord giue you fleſh to eat, and in the morning your fil of bread: for yͤ Lord hathe heard your murmurings, which ye murmure agaíſt him: for what are we? your murmurings are not againſt vs, but againſt the e Lord.
.¶ And Moſes ſaid to Aarón, Say vnto all the Cógregacion of the childré of Iſraél, Drawe nere before yͤ Lord: for he hathe heard your murmurings.
.Now as Aarón ſpake vnto the whole Cógregacion of the children of Iſraél, they loked toward the wildernes, and beholde, yͤ glorie of the Lord appeared * í a cloude.
.(For the Lord had ſpoken vnto Moſes, ſaying,
.* I haue heard yͤ murmurings of the children of Iſraél: tel them therefore, & ſay, " At euen ye ſhal eat fleſh, and in the morning ye ſhalbe filled with bread, and ye ſhal knowe that I am the Lord your God)
.And ſo at eué the * quailes came & couered the campe : & in the morning yͤ dewe laye rounde about the hoſte.
.* And when the dewe that was fallé was aſcended, beholde, a ſmale rounde thing was vpon the face of the wildernes, ſmale as the hore froſt on the earth.
.And when the children of Iſraél ſawe it, they ſaid one to another, It is f M A N, for they wiſt not what it was. And Moſes ſaid vnto them, * This is the bread which the Lord hathe giuen you to eat
.¶ This is the thing which yͤ Lord hathe commanded: gather of it euerie man according to his eating an Omer g for " a má according to the nombre of your perſones: euerie man ſhal take for thé which are in his tent.
.And the children of Iſraél did ſo, & gathered, ſome more, ſome leſſe.
.And when they did meaſure it with an Omer, * he that had gathered muche, had nothing ouer, & he that had gathered litle, had no h lacke: ſo euerie man gathered according to his eating.
.Moſes then ſaid vnto them, Let no man reſerue thereof til morning.
.Notwithſtáding they obeid not Moſes: but ſome of them reſerued of it til morning, and it was ful of wormes, & i ſtanke: therefore Moſes was angry with them.
.And they gathered it euerie morning, euerie má accordig to his eating: for whé the heat of the ſunne came, it was melted.
.¶ And the ſixt day they gathered k twiſe ſo muche bread, two Omers for one man: then all the rulers of the Congregacion came and tolde Moſes.
.And he anſwered thé, This is that, which yͤ Lord hathe ſaid, To morowe is the reſt of the holy Sabbath vnto the Lord : bake that to daie which ye wil bake, and ſethe yͤ which ye wil ſethe, and all that remaineth, lay it vp to be kept til yͤ mornig for you.
.And they layed it vp til the morning, as Moſes bade, and it ſtanke not, neither was there any worme therein.
.Then Moſes ſaid, Eat that to day: for to day is the Sabbath vnto the Lord: to day ye ſhal not l finde it in the field.
.Six dayes ſhal ye gather it, but in yͤ ſeuéth day is the Sabbath: in it there ſhalbe none.
.¶ Notwithſtanding, there m went out ſome of the people in the ſeuenth day for to gather, and they founde none.
.And the Lord ſaid vnto Moſes, How lóg refuſe ye to kepe my commandements, & my lawes?
.Beholde, how the Lord hathe giué you the Sabbath: therefore he giueth you the ſixt day bread for two dayes: tary therefore euerie man in his place: let no man go out of his place the ſeuenth day.
.So the people reſted the ſeuenth day.
.And the houſe of Iſraél called the name of it of it, M A N. and it was like n to coriandre ſede, but white: and the taſte of it was like vnto wafers made with hony.
.And Moſés ſaid, This is that which the Lord hathe commanded, Fil an Omer of it, to kepe it for your poſteritie: that they may ſe ye bread wherewith I haue fed you in wildernes, when I broght you out of the land of Egypt.
.Moſés alſo ſaid to Aarón, Take a o pot and put an Omer ful of M A N therein, & ſet it before the Lord to be kept for your poſteritie.
.As the Lord commanded Moſés: ſo Aarón laied it vp before the p Teſtimonie to be kept.
.And the children of Iſraél did eat M A N * fourty yeres, vntil they came vnto a lād inhabited: they did eat M A N vntil they came to the borders of the land of Canáan.
.The Omer q is the tenth part of the q Epháh.
