2 Kings 8

Eliſhâ prophecieth vnto the Shunammite the dearth of ſeuen yere 12 He prophecieth to Hazaél that he ſhalbe King of Syria 15 He reigneth after Benhadád. 16 Iehoram reigneth ouer Iudáh. 20 Edóm falleth from Iudáh 25 Ahaziáh ſuccedeth Iehorám.
1.THen ſpake Eliſhâ vnto the woman, * whoſe ſonne he had reſtored to life, ſaying, Vp, and go, thou, and thine houſe, and ſoiourne where thou a canſt ſoiourne: for the Lord hathe called for a famine, & it cómeth alſo vpon the land ſeuen yeres.
2.And the woman aroſe, and did after the ſaying of the man of God, and went bothe ſhe & her houſholde and ſoiourned in the land of the Philiſtíms ſeuen yeres.
3.¶And at the ſeuen yeres end, the woman returned out of the land of the Philiſtíms and went out b to call vpon the King for her houſe and for her land.
4.And the King talked with Gehazí the ſeruát of the man of God, ſaying, Tel me, I praye thee, all the great actes, that Eliſhâ hathe done.
5.And as he tolde c the King, how he had reſtored one dead to life, beholde, the woman, whoſe ſonne he had raiſed to life, called vpon the King for her houſe & for her land. Then Gehazí ſaid, My lord, ô King, this is the woman, and this is her ſonne, whome Eliſhâ reſtored to life.
6.And when the King aſked the womá, ſhe tolde him: ſo the King appointed her an Eunuche, ſaying, Reſtore thou all that are hers, and all the d frutes of her landes ſince ye day ſhe left the land, eué vntil this time.
7.¶Then Eliſhâ came to Damaſcus, & Ben-hadád the King of Arám was ſicke. & one tolde him, ſaying, The man of God is come hether.
8.And the King ſaid vnto Hazaél, Take a preſent in thine hand, and go mete the man of God, that thou maieſt inquire of the Lord by him, ſaying, Shal I recouer of this diſeaſe?
9.¶So Hazaél went to mete him, and toke the preſent in his hand, and of euerie e good thing of Damaſcus, euen the burden of fourty camels, and came and ſtode before him, and ſaid, Thy ſonne Ben-hadád King of Arám hathe ſent me to thee, ſaying, Shal I recouer of this diſeaſe?
10.And Eliſhâ ſaid to him, Go, & ſay vnto him, Thou ſhalt f recouer: howbeit ye Lord hathe ſhewed me, that he ſhal ſurely dye.
11.And he loked vpon him ſtedfaſtely til Hazaél was aſhamed, and the man of God wept.
12.And Hazaél ſaid, Why wepeth my lord? And he anſwered, Becauſe I knowe the euil that thou ſhalt do vnto the children of Iſraél: for their ſtrong cities ſhalt thou ſet on fyre, and their yóg men ſhalt thou ſlay with the ſworde, and ſhalt daſhe their infants againſt the ſtones, & rent in pieces their women with childe.
13.Then Hazaél ſaid, What? is thy ſeruant a g dog, that I ſhulde do this great thing? And Eliſhâ anſwered, The Lord hathe ſhewed me, yt thou ſhalt be Kíg of Arám.
14.¶So he departed from Eliſhâ, and came to his maſter, who ſaid to him, What ſaid Eliſhâ to thee? And he anſwered, He tolde me that thou ſhuldeſt recouer.
15.15 And on the morow he toke a thicke cloth and dipt it in water, and h ſpread it on his face, and he dyed: & Hazaél reigned in his ſteade.
16.16 ¶ * Now in the fifte yere of Iorám the ſonne of Aháb King of Iſraél, and of Iehoſhaphat King of Iudáh, i Iehorám the ſonne of Iehoſhaphat King of Iudáh be k gã to reigne.
17.17 He was two and thirtie yere olde, when he began to reigne: and he reigned eight yere in Ieruſalém.
18.18 And he walked in the wayes of the Kĩgs of Iſraél, as did the houſe of Aháb: for l ye daughter of Aháb was his wife, and he did euil in the ſight of the Lord.
19.19 Yet the Lord wolde not deſtroy Iudáh, for Dauid his ſeruants ſake, * as he had promiſed him to giue him a light & to his children for euer.
20.20 ¶ In thoſe dayes Edóm m rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudáh, & made a King ouer them ſelues.
21.21 Therefore Iorám went to Zaír, and all his charets with him, & he aroſe by night, and ſmote the Edomites which were about him with the captaines of the charets, and the people fled into their tentes.
22.22 So Edóm rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudáh vnto this day. then n Libnáh rebelled at that ſame time.
23.23 Concerning the reſt of the actes of Iorám and all that he did, are they not writen in the boke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudáh?
24.24 And Iorám ſlept with his fathers, & was buryed with his fathers in the citie of Dauid. And * Ahaziáh his ſonne reigned in his ſteade.
25.25 ¶ In the twelft yere of Iorám the ſonne of Aháb King of Iſraél did Ahaziáh the ſonne of Iehorám King of Iudáh begin to reigne.
26.26 o Two and twentie yere olde was Ahaziáh when he began to reigne, & he reigned one yere in Ieruſalém, & his mothers name was Athaliáh ye daughter of Omrí King of Iſraél.
27.27 And he walked in the way of the houſe of Aháb, and did euil in the ſight of the Lord, like the houſe of Aháb: for he was the ſonne in lawe of the houſe of Aháb.
28.28 And he went with Iorám the ſonne of Aháb to warre againſt Hazaél King of Arám in p Ramóth Gileád, and the Aramites ſmote Iorám.
29.29 And King Iorám returned to be healed in q Izreél of the wounds which the Aramites had giuen him at Ramáh, when he fought againſt Hazaél King of Arám. And Ahaziáh the ſonne of Iehorám King of Iudáh went downe to ſe Iorám the ſonne of Aháb in Izreél, becauſe he was ſicke.
