2 Kings 7

1 Eliſhá prophecieth plentie of vitaile and other things to Samaria. 6 The Syrians runne away, and haue no man following them. 17 The prince that wolde not beleue the worde of Eliſhá is troden to death.
1.THen Eliſhá ſaid, Heare ye the worde of the Lord: thus ſaith the Lord, a Tomorowe this time a meaſure of fine floure ſhalbe ſolde for a ſhekel, and two meaſures of barly for a ſhekel in the gate of Samaria.
2.Then a prince, on whoſe hand the King b leaned,anſwered the man of God, and ſaid, Thogh the Lord wolde make c windowes in the heauẽ,colde this thing come to paſſe?And he ſaid, Beholde, thou ſhalt ſe it with thine eyes, but yu ſhalt not d eat thereof.
3.Now there were foure leprouſe men at ye e entring in of ye gate:and they ſaid one to another, Why ſit we here vntil we dye?
4.If we ſay, We wil entrie into the citie, the famine is in the citie, & we ſhal dye there: and if we ſit here,we dye alſo. Now therefore come, and let vs fall into the campe of the Aramites: if thei ſaue our liues, we ſhal liue: & if they kil vs,we are but dead.
5.So they roſe vp in the twilight, to go to the campe of the Aramites:and when thei were come to the vtmoſte parte of the campe of the Aramites, lo, there was no man there.
6.For the Lord had cauſed the campe of ye Aramites to heare a f noiſe of charets & a noiſe of horſes, & a noiſe of a great armie,ſo yt they ſaid one to another, Beholde, the King of Iſraél hathe hired againſt vs the Kings of the Hittites,& the Kings of the Egyptians to come vpon vs.
7.Wherefore they aroſe, and fled in the twilight, & left their tentes & their horſes,& their aſſes,euen the campe as it was, and g fled for their liues.
8.And when theſe lepers came to ye vtmoſt part of the campe, they entred into one tent, and did eat and drinke, and caried thence ſiluer and golde, and raiment, and went and hid it: after they returned, and entred into another tent, & caried thence alſo,and went, and hid it.
9.Then ſaid one to another, We do not wel:this day is a day of good tidings, and we holde our peace. if we tary til day light, ſome miſchief wil come vpon vs. " Now therefore come, let vs go, and tel the Kings houſholde.
10.So they came,& called vnto the porters of the citie,& tolde thẽ,ſaying, We came to the campe of the Aramites,& lo,there was no man there, nether voyce of mã,but horſes horſes tyed and aſſes tyed: and the tentes are as they were.
11.And the porters cryed and declared to the Kings houſe within.
12.Then the King aroſe in the night, and ſaid vnto his ſeruants, h I wil ſhewe you now, what the Aramites haue done vnto vs. They knowe that we are affamiſhed, therefore they are gone out of the campe to hide them ſelues in the field, ſaying, When thei come out of the citie, we ſhal catche them aliue, and get into the citie.
13.And one of his ſeruants anſwered, and ſaid, Let men take now fiue of the horſes that remaine, & are left in the citie, ( i beholde, they are euen as all the multitude of Iſraél that are left therein: beholde, I ſay, they are as the multitude of the Iſraelites that are coſumed) & we wil ſend to ſe.
14.So they toke " two charets of horſes, and the King ſent after the hoſte of the Aramites, ſaying, Go and ſe.
15.And they went after them vnto Iordén, and lo, all the way was ful of clothes and veſſels which the Aramites had caſt from them in their haſte: & the meſſengers returned, and tolde the King.
16.Then the people went out and ſpoiled the campe of the Aramites: ſo a meaſure of fine floure was at a ſhekel, and two meaſures of barly at a ſhekel k according to ye worde of the Lord.
17.And the King gaue the prince (on whoſe hand he leaned) the charge of the gate, & the people l trode vpon him in the gate, and he dyed, as the man of God had ſaid, which ſpake it, when the King came downe to him.
18.And it came to paſſe, as the man of God had ſpoken to the King, ſaying, Two meaſures of barly at a ſhekel and a meaſure of fine floure ſhalbe at a ſhekel, tomorowe about this time in the gate of Samaria.
19.But the prince had anſwered the man of God, and ſaid, Thogh the Lord wolde make windowes in the heauen, colde it come ſo to paſſe? And he ſaid, Beholde, yu ſhalt ſe it with thine eies, but thou ſhalt not eat thereof.
20.And ſo it came vnto him: for the people trode vpon him in the gate, and he dyed.
