2 Kings 10

6 Iehú cauſeth the ſeuentie ſonnes of Aháb to be ſlayne. 13 And after that fourty and two of Ahaziáhs brethren 25 He killeth alſo all the prieſts of Baal 35 After his death, his ſonne reigneth in his ſteade.
0of Nebát which made Iſraél to ſinne, Iehú departed not frõ them, nether from the golden calues that were in Beth-él and that were in Dan.
1.AHáb had now ſeuentie a ſonnes in Samaria. And Iehú wrote letters, & ſent to Samaria vnto the rulers of Izreél, to the Elders, and to the bringers vp of Ahabs children, to this effect,
2.Now when this letter commeth to you, (for ye haue with you your maſters ſonnes, ye haue with you bothe charets and
3.Coſider therefore which of your maſters ſonnes is beſt and moſte mete, & b ſet him on his fathers throne, and fight for your maſters houſe.
4.But thei were excedingly afraied, & ſaid, Beholde, two Kings colde not ſtand before him, how ſhal we then ſtand?
5.And he that was gouernour of Ahabs houſe, and he that ruled the citie, and the Elders, and the bringers vp of the childrē ſent to Iehú, ſaying, We are thy ſeruants, and wil do all that thou ſhalt byd vs: we wil make no King: do what ſemeth good to thee.
6.¶ Then he wrote another letter to them, ſayīg, If ye be myne, & wil obey my voice, c take the heades of the men that are your maſters ſonnes, and come to me to Izreél by tomorowe this time. (Now the Kings ſonnes, euen ſeuenty perſones were with the great men of the citie, which broght them vp.)
7.And when the letter came to them, they toke the Kings ſonnes, and ſlewe the ſeuenty perſones, and laied their heades in baſkets, and ſent them vnto him to Izreél.
8.¶ Then there came a meſſenger & tolde him, ſaying, Thei haue broght the heades of the Kings ſonnes. And he ſaid, Let thē lay them on two heapes at the entring in of the gate vntil the morning.
9.And whē it was day, he went out, & ſtode & ſaid to all the people, Ye be d righteous: beholde, I conſpired againſt my maſter, & ſlewe him: but who ſlewe all theſe?
10.Knowe now that there ſhal fall vnto the earth nothing of the worde of the Lord, which the Lord ſpake concerning ye houſe of Aháb: for the Lord hathe broght to paſſe the things that he ſpake " by his ſeruant * Eliiáh.
11.So Iehú ſlewe all that remayned of the houſe of Aháb in Izreél, and all that were great with him, and his familiars and his e prieſts, ſo that he let none of his remaine.
12.¶ And he aroſe, and departed and came to Samaria. And as Iehú was in the waye by an houſe where the ſhepherdes did ſhere,
13.He met with the brethren of Ahaziáh King of Iudáh and ſaid, Who are ye? And thei anſwered, We are the brethren of Ahaziáh, & go downe to ſalute the children of the King and the children of the quene.
14.And he ſaid, Take them aliue. And thei toke them aliue, & ſlewe them at the well beſide the houſe where ye ſhepe are ſhorne, euen two and fourtie men, and he f left not one of them.
15.¶ And when he was departed thence, he met with Iehonadáb the ſonne of Recháb comming to mete him, and he g " bleſſed him, and ſaid to him, Is thine heart vpright, as mine heart is toward thine? And Iehonadáb anſwered, Yea, douteles. Then giue me thine hand. And when he had giuen him his hand, he toke him vp to him into the charet.
16.And he ſaid, Come with me, and ſe the zeale that I haue for the Lord: ſo they made him ryde in his charet.
17.And when he came to Samaria, he ſlewe all that remained vnto Aháb in Samaria, til he had deſtroyed him, according to the worde of the Lord, which he ſpake to Eliiáh.
18.Then Iehú aſſembled all the people, and ſaid vnto them, Aháb ſerued h Báal a litle, but Iehú ſhal ſerue him muche more.
19.Now therefore call vnto me all the prophetes of Báal, all his ſeruants, and all his prieſts, and let not a man be lacking: for I haue a great ſacrifice for Báal: whoſoeuer is lacking, he ſhal not liue. But Iehú did it by a ſubtiltie to deſtroye the ſeruants of Báal.
20.And Iehú ſaid, " Proclaime a ſolemne aſſemblie for Báal. And thei proclaimed it.
21.So Iehú ſent vnto all Iſraél, and all the ſeruants of Báal came, and there was not a mā left that came not. And thei came into the houſe of Báal, & the houſe of Báal was ful from end to end.
22.Then he ſaid vnto him that had ye charge of the veſtrie, Bring forthe veſtements for all the ſeruáts of Báal. And he broght them out veſtements.
23.And when Iehú went, & Iehonadáb the ſonne of Recháb into the houſe of Báal, he ſaid vnto the ſeruants of Báal, Searche diligently, and loke, leſt there be here with you any of the i ſeruants of the Lord, but the ſeruants of Báal onely.
24.And when thei went in to make ſacrifice & burnt offrīg, Iehú appointed foureſcore men without, and ſaid, If anie of the men whome I haue broght into your hands, eſcape, his ſoule " ſhalbe for his ſoule.
25.And when he had made an end of the burnt offring, Iehú ſaid to the garde, and to the capitaines, Go in, ſlaye them, let not a man come out. And they ſmote thē with the edge of the ſworde. And the garde, and the capitaines caſt them out, & went vnto the k citie, where was the temple of Báal.
26.And they broght out the images of the temple of Báal, and burnt them.
27.And they deſtroyed the image of Báal, and threwe downe the houſe of Báal, and made a iakes of it vnto this day.
28.So Iehú deſtroyed Báal out of Iſraél.
29.But frō the ſinnes of Ieroboám ye ſonne of
30.¶And the Lord ſaid vnto Iehú, Becauſe thou haſt diligently executed that which wa right in mine eies, and haſt done vnto the houſe of Aháb according to all thĩgs that were in mine heart, therefore ſhal thy l ſõnnes vnto the fourte generacion ſit on the throne of Iſraél.
31.But Iehú regarded not to walke in ye lawe of ye Lord God of Iſraél with all his heart: for he departed not from the ſinnes of Ieroboám, which made Iſraél to ſinne.
32.In thoſe dayes the Lord began to " lothe Iſraél, and Hazaél ſmote them in all the coaſtes of Iſraél,
33.From Iordén Eaſtwarde, euen all the land of Gileád, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and them that were of Manaſſéh, from Aroér (which is by the riuer Arnón) and Gileád and Baſhán.
34.Concerning the reſt of the actes of Iehú, and all that he did, and all his valiant dedes, are they not writen in the boke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iſraél?
35.And Iehú ſlept with his fathers, and they buryed him in Samaria, and Iehoaház his ſonne reigned in his ſteade.
36.And the time that Iehú reigned ouer Iſraél in Samaria is eight and twẽtie yeres.
