Kings 8

The Arke is borne into the Tēple. 10 A cloude filleth the Temple. 15 The King bleſſeth the people.
.THen * King Salomón aſſembled the Elders of Iſraél, euen all the heads of the tribes, the chief fathers of the childrē of Iſraél vnto " him in Ieruſalém, for to a bring vp the Arke of the couenant of the Lord from the citie of Dauid, which is Zión.
.And all the mē of Iſraél aſſembled vnto King Salomón at the feaſt in the moneth of b Ethaním, which is the ſeuēth moneth.
.And all the Elders of Iſraél came & the Prieſts toke the Arke.
.They bare the Arke of the Lord, and the bare ye Tabernacle of the Congregacion, & all the holy veſſels that were in the Tabernacle: thoſe did the Prieſts & Leuites bring vp.
.And King Salomón and all the Congregacion of Iſraél, that were aſſembled vnto him, were with him before the Arke, offrīg ſhepe & beeues, which colde not be tolde, nor nombred for multitude.
.So the c Prieſts broght the Arke of the couenant of the Lord vnto his place, into the oracle of the houſe, into ye moſte holy place, euē vnder ye wings of ye Cherubíms.
.For the Cherubíms ſtretched out their wings ouer the place of the Arke, and the Cherubíms couered the Arke, & the barres thereof aboue.
.And they d drew out the barres, that the ends of the barres might appeare out of the Sanctuarie before the oracle, but they were not ſene without: and there they are vnto this day.
.Nothing was in the Arke e ſaue the two tables of ſtone which Moſés had put there at Horéb, where the Lord made a couenãt with the children of Iſraél, whẽ he broght them out of the land of Egypt.
.And when the Prieſts were come out of the Sanctuarie, the * cloude filled the houſe of the Lord,
.So that the Prieſts colde not ſtand to miniſter, becauſe of the cloude: for the glorie of the Lord had filled the houſe of the Lord.
.Then ſpake Salomón, The Lord * ſaid, that he wolde dwel in the darcke cloude.
.I haue buylt thee an houſe to dwel in, an habitacion for thee to abide in for f euer.
.¶ And the King turned his face, & bleſſed all the Congregacion of Iſraél: for all the Congregacion of Iſraél ſtode there.
.And he ſaid, Bleſſed be the Lord God of Iſraél, who ſpake with his mouth vnto Dauid my father, and hathe with his hãd fulfilled it, ſaying,
.Since the day that I broght my people Iſraél out of Egypt, I choſe no citie of all ye tribes of Iſraél, to buylde an houſe that my Name might be there: but I haue choſen * Dauid to be ouer my people Iſraél.
.And it was in the heart of Dauid my father to buyld an houſe to the Name of the Lord God of Iſraél.
.And the Lord ſaid vnto Dauid my father, Where as it was in thine heart to buylde an houſe vnto my Name, thou dideſt wel, that thou waſt ſo minded:
.Neuertheles thou ſhalt not buylde the houſe, but thy ſonne, that ſhal come out of thy loynes, he ſhal buylde the houſe vnto my Name.
.And the Lord hathe made " good his worde that he ſpake: and I am riſen vp in the roume of Dauid my father, and ſit on ye throne of Iſraél, as the Lord promiſed, and haue buylt the houſe for the Name of the Lord God of Iſraél.
.And I haue prepared therein a place for the Arke, wherein is the g couenant of the Lord which he made with our fathers, whẽ he broght thẽ out of ye lãd of Egypt.
.¶ Then Salomón ſtode before * the altar of the Lord in the ſight of all the Congregaciõ of Iſraél, and ſtretched out his hands towarde heauen,
.And ſaid, * O Lord God of Iſraél, there is no god like thee in heauen aboue, or in the earth beneth, thou that kepeſt couenãt & mercy with thy ſeruants that walke before thee with h all their heart,
.Thou that haſt kept with thy ſeruant Dauid my father, that thou haſt promiſed him: for thou ſpakeſt with thy mouth & haſt fulfilled it with thine hand, as appeareth this day.
.Therefore now, Lord God of Iſraél, kepe with thy ſeruãt Dauid my father that thou haſt promiſed him, ſaying, * Thou ſhalt not want a man in my ſight to ſit vpon ye throne of Iſraél: ſo that thy children take hede to their way, that they walke before me, as thou haſt walked in my ſight.
.And now, ô God of Iſrael, I pray thee, let thy worde be verified, which thou ſpakeſt vnto thy ſeruant Dauid my father.
.Is it true in dede that God wil dwel on the earth? beholde, the heauens, & the heauens of heauens are not able to containe thee: how much more i vnable is this houſe that I haue buylt?
.But haue thou reſpect vnto the prayer of thy ſeruant, and to his ſupplicacion, ô Lord, my God, to heare the crye & prayer which thy ſeruant prayeth before thee this day:
.That thine eyes may be open toward this houſe, night and day, euen towarde the place whereof thou haſt ſaid, * My Name ſhal be there: that thou mayeſt hearken vnto the prayer which thy ſeruãt prayeth in this place.
.Heare thou therefore the ſupplicacion of thy ſeruant, and of thy people Iſraél, which pray in this place, and heare thou " in the place of thine habitacion, euen in heauen, and when thou heareſt, haue mercy.
.¶ Whẽ a man ſhal treſpaſſe againſt his neighbour, and k he lay vpon him an othe to cauſe him to ſweare, and " the ſwearer ſhal come before thine altar in this houſe,
.Then heare thou in heauen, and l do & iudge thy ſeruants, that thou cõdemne the wicked to bring his way vpon his head, & iuſtifie the righteous, to giue him according to his righteouſnes.
.¶ When thy people Iſraél ſhalbe ouerthrowen before the enemie, becauſe they haue ſinned againſt thee, and turne againe to thee, and m confeſſe thy Name, and pray and make ſupplicacion vnto thee in this houſe,
.Then heare thou in heauen, and be merciful vnto the ſinne of thy people Iſraél, and bring thẽ againe vnto the land, which thou gaueſt vnto their fathers.
.¶ When heauẽ ſhalbe n ſhut vp, & there ſhalbe no raine becauſe they haue ſinned againſt thee, and ſhal pray in this place, and confeſſe thy Name, and turne from their ſinne, when thou doeſt afflict them,
.Then heare thou in heauen, & pardone the ſinne of thy ſeruants and of thy people Iſraél (when thou haſt taught them the good good way wherein they may walke) and giue raine vpon the land that thou haſt giuen to thy people to inherit.
.¶ When there ſhalbe famine in the lãd, when there ſhalbe peſtilence, when there ſhalbe blaſting mildewe, graſhopper or caterpiller, when their enemie ſhal beſiege them in the " cities of their land, or anie plague or anie ſickenes,
.Then what prayers, and ſupplicacion ſoeuer ſhalbe made of anie man or of all thy people Iſraél, when euerie one ſhal knowe the plague in his owne o heart, & ſtretch forthe his hands in this houſe,
.Heare thou then in heauen, in thy dwelling place, and be merciful, and do, and giue euerie mã according to all his wayes, as thou knoweſt his heart (for thou onely knoweſt the hearts of all the children of men)
.That they may feare thee as lõg as they liue in the land, which thou gaueſt vnto our fathers.
.Moreouer as touching the p ſtranger that is not of thy people Iſraél, who ſhal come out of a farre countrei for thy Names ſake,
.(Whẽ they ſhal heare of thy great Name, and of thy mighty hand, and of thy ſtretched out arme) and ſhal come & pray in this houſe,
.Heare thou in heauen thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the ſtranger calleth for vnto thee: that all ye people of the earth may knowe thy Name, & feare thee, as do thy people Iſraél: and that they may knowe, that thy q Name is called vpon in this houſe which I haue buylt.
.¶ When thy people ſhal go out to battel againſt their enemie by the way that thou ſhalt ſend them, and ſhal pray vnto the Lord * towarde the way of ye citie which thou haſt choſen, & towarde the houſe that I haue buylt for thy Name,
.Heare thou then in heauen their prayer and their ſupplicacion, and " iudge their cauſe.
.If they ſinne againſt thee ( * for there is no man that ſinneth not) & thou be angry with them, & deliuer them vnto the enemies, ſo that they carie them away priſoners vnto the land of the enemies, ether farre or nere,
.Yet " if they turne againe vnto their heart in the land (to the which they be caryed away captiues) and returne and pray vnto thee r in the land of them that caryed them away captiues, ſaying, We haue ſinned, we haue tranſgreſſed, and done wickedly,
.If they turne againe vnto thee with all their heart, and with all their ſoule in the land of their enemies, which led thẽ away captiues, and pray vnto thee towarde [ſ]the way of their land, which thou gaueſt vnto their fathers, & towarde ye citie which thou haſt choſen, and the houſe, which I haue buylt for thy Name,
.Then heare thou their prayer and their ſupplicacion in heauẽ thy dwelling place, and " iudge their cauſe,
.And be merciful vnto thy people that haue ſinned againſt thee, & vnto all their iniquities (wherein they haue tranſgreſſed againſt thee) and cauſe that they, which led them away captiues, may t haue pitie and compaſsion on them:
.For they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broghteſt out of Egypt from the middes of the yron fornace.
.Let thine eies be open vnto the prayer of thy ſeruant, and vnto the praier of thy people Iſraél, to hearken vnto them, in all that they call for vnto thee.
.For thou dideſt ſeparate them to thee from among all people of the earth for an inheritãce, as thou ſaideſt by the hand of Moſés thy ſeruant, whẽ thou broghteſt our fathers * out of Egypt, ô Lord God.
.And when Salomón had made an end of praying all this u prayer and ſupplicacion vnto the Lord, he aroſe from before the altar of the Lord, from kneling on his knees, and ſtretching of his hands to heauen,
.And ſtode and bleſſed all the Congregacion of Iſraél with a loude voice, ſaying,
.Bleſſed be the Lord that hathe giuen reſt vnto his people Iſraél, according to all ye he promiſed: there hathe not failed one worde of all his good promes which he promiſed by the hand of Moſés his ſeruant.
.The Lord our God be with vs, as he was with our fathers, that he forſake vs not, nether leaue vs,
.That he may x bowe our hearts vnto hĩ, that we may walke in all his waies, & kepe his commandements, and his ſtatutes, and his lawes, which he commanded our fathers.
.And theſe my wordes, wc I haue praied before ye Lord, be nere vnto the Lord our God day and night, that he defende the cauſe of his ſeruant, and the cauſe of his people Iſraél " alway as the matter requireth,
.That all the people of the earth may knowe, that the Lord is God, & none other.
.Let your heart therefore be perfite with the Lord our God to walke in his ſtatutes,
.* The the King & all Iſraél with him offred ſacrifice before the Lord.
.* And Salomón offred a ſacrifice of peace offrings which he offred vnto the Lord, to wit, two & twentie thouſand beeues, and an hundreth & twentie thouſand ſhepe: ſo the King and all the children of Iſraél dedicated the y houſe of the Lord.
.The ſame day did the King halowe the midle of the courte, that was before the houſe of ye Lord: for there he offred burnt offrings, and the meat offrings, and the fat of the peace offrings, becauſe the * braſen altar that was before the Lord, was to litle to receiue the burnt offrings, and the meat offrings, and the fat of the peace offrings.
.And Salomón made at that time a feaſt and all Iſraél with him, a very great Cõgregaciõ, euen frõ the entring in of z Hamáth vnto the riuer of Egypt, before the Lord our God, a ſeuen dayes and ſeuen dayes, euen fourtene dayes.
.And the eight day he ſent the people away: and they " thanked the King and went vnto their tentes ioyous and with glad heart, becauſe of all the goodnes that the Lord had done for Dauid his ſeruant, and for Iſraél his people.
