Genesis 49

1 Iaakob bleſſeth all his ſonnes by name, and ſheweth them what * to come 29 He wil be buryed with his fathers. 33 He dyeth
1.THen Iaakob called his ſonnes, & ſaid, Gather your ſelues together, that I may tel you what ſhal come to you in the a laſt daies.
2.Gather your ſelues together, & heare, ye ſonnes of Iaakób, & hearken vnto Iſraél your father.
3.Reubén mine eldeſt ſonne, thou art my b might, & the beginning of my ſtrength, c the excellencie of dignitie, & the excel-lencie of power.
4.Thou waſt light as water: thou ſhalt not be excellent, becauſe thou wenteſt vp to thy fathers bed: then dideſt thou defile my bed, thy dignitie is gone.
5.Simeón and Leui, brethrẽ in euil, the * in-ſtruméts of crueltie are in their habitaciõs.
6.Into their ſecret let not my ſoule co-me: my d glorie, be not thou ioyned with their aſſemblie: for in their wrath they ſlewe a e man, and in their ſelfewil they digged downe a wall.
7.Curſed be their wrath, for it was fearce, & their rage, for it was cruel: I wil f diui-de them in Iaakób, & ſcater thẽ in Iſraél.
8.¶ Thou Iudah, thy brethren ſhal praiſe thee: thine hãd ſhalbe in ye necke of thine ennemies: thy fathers ſonnes ſhal g bowe downe vnto thee.
9.Iudáh, as a lions whelpe ſhalt thou come vp from the ſpoile, my ſonne. He ſhal lie downe & couche as a lion, & as a lioneſſe. h Who ſhal ſter him vp?
10.The * ſceptre ſhal not departe from Iu-dáh, nor a lawgiuer from betwene his fe-te, vntil i Shilóh come, and the people ſhal be gathered vnto him.
11.He ſhal binde his aſſe fole vnto the k vine, & his aſſes colte vnto the beſt vine. he ſhal waſh his garment in wine,and his cloke in the blood of grapes.
12.His eies ſhalbe red with wine,and his tethe white with milke.
13.¶ Zebulún ſhal dwel by the ſea ſide:& he ſhalbe an hauen for ſhippes: his border ſhal be vnto Zidón.
14.Iſſachár ſhalbe lm a ſtrong aſſe,couching downe betwene two burdens:
15.And he ſhal ſe that reſt is good,and that the land is pleaſant, and he ſhal bowe his ſhulder to beare, and ſhalbe ſubiect vnto tribute.
16.¶ Dan n ſhal iudge his people as one of the tribes of Iſraél.
17.Dan ſhalbe a o ſerpẽt by the way, an adder by the path,byting the horſe heles, ſo that his ryder ſhal fall backwarde.
18.p O Lord, I haue waited for thy ſaluacion.
19.¶ Gad,an hoſt of mẽ ſhal ouercome him, but he ſhal ouercome at the laſt.
20.Cõcerning Aſhér,his q bread ſhalbe fat, and he ſhal giue pleaſures for a King.
21.¶ Naphtali ſhalbe a hinde let go, giuing r goodlie wordes.
22.¶ Ioſeph ſhalbe s a fruteful bough, euen a fruteful bough by the well ſide:the t ſmale boughes ſhal runne vpon the wall.
23.u And the archers grieued him, and ſhot againſt him,and hated him,
24.But his bowe abode ſtrong, and the hãdes of his armes were ſtrengthened, by the hãds of the mightie God of Iaakób,of whome was the feeder v appointed by the ſtone of Iſraél,
25.Euen by the God of thy father,who ſhal helpe thee,& by the almightie,who ſhal bleſſe thee with heauenlie bleſſings frõ aboue,with bleſsings of ye depe,that lieth beneath, with bleſsings of the breſts,& of the wombe.
26.The bleſsings of thy father ſhalbe x ſtrõger thẽ the bleſsings of mine elders: vnto the end of the hilles of the worlde they ſhalbe on the head of Ioſeph,and on the toppe of the head of him that was y ſeparat from his brethren.
27.¶ Beniamín ſhal rauine as a wolfe:in the morning he ſhal deuoure the praye, and at night he ſhal diuide the ſpoile.
28.¶ All theſe are the twelue tribes of Iſraél, and thus their father ſpake vnto thẽ, and bleſſed them:euerie one of them bleſſed he with a ſeueral bleſsing.
29.And he charged them & ſaid vnto thẽ,I am ready to be gathered vnto my people: * bury me with my fathers in the caue that is in the field of Ephrón the Hittite,
30.In the caue that is in the field of Machpeláh beſides Mamré in the land of Canáan: which caue Abrahám boght wt the field of Ephrón the Hittite for a poſſeſſion to bury in.
31.There thei buryed Abrahám and Saráh his wife: there thei buryed Izhák & Rebekáh his wife:and there I buryed Leáh.
32.The purchaſe of the field & the caue yt is therein, was boght of ye childrẽ of Heth.
33.Thus Iaakób made an end of giuing charge to his ſonnes,and z plucked vp his fete into the bed and gaue vp the goſt, & was gathered to his people.
