Genesis 50

1 Iaakób is buryed 19 Ioſeph forgiueth his brethren. 23 He ſeeth his childrens children.25 He dyeth.
1.THen Ioſeph fel vpon his fathers face and wept vpon him,and kiſſed him.
2.And Ioſeph commanded his ſeruants the a phiſicions, to enbaume his father,& the phiſicions enbaumed Iſraél.
3.So fourty daies were accõpliſhed (for ſo long did the dates of them that were enbaumed laſt) and the Egyptiãs bewailed him b ſeuenty daies.
4.And when the daies of his mourning were paſt,Ioſeph ſpake to the houſe of Pharaóh, ſaying, If I haue now founde fauour in your eies,ſpeak,I pray you,in ye eares of Pharaóh,and ſay,
5.My father made me * ſweare,ſaying,Lo, I dye,bury me in my graue,which I haue made me in the lãd of Canáan:now therefore let me go,I praie thee,& bury my father and I wil come againe.
6.The Pharaóh ſaid,Go vp and bury thy father, c as he made thee to ſweare.
7.¶ So Ioſeph went vp to bury his father, and with him went all the ſeruantes of Pharaóh,bothe the elders of his houſe and all the elders of the land of Egypt.
8.Likewiſe all the houſe of Ioſeph,and his brethren,and his fathers houſe: onely their children, and their ſhepe, and their cattel left they in the land of Góſhen.
9.And there went vp with him bothe charets and horſemen: and they were an exceding great companie.
10.And they came to * Góren Atád,which is beyonde Iordén, and there they made a great and exceding ſore lamentacion: and he mourned for his father ſeuẽ daies.
11.And whẽ the Canaanites the inhabitãts of the land ſawe the mourning in Góren Atád,they ſaid,This is a great mourning vnto the Egyptians: wherefore the name thereof was called * Abél Mizráim, which is beyonde Iordén.
12.So his ſonnes did vnto him according as he had commanded them:
13.* For his ſonnes caried him into the land of Canáan, & buryed him in the caue of the field of Machpeláh,wc caue * Abrahám boght with ye field, to be * a place to bury in,of Ephrón ye Hittite beſides Mamré.
14.¶ Then ¶ Then Ioſeph returned into Egypt, he and his brethren, & all that went vp with him to bury his father, after that he had buried his father.
15.And whē Ioſephs brethrē ſawe that their father was dead, they ſaid, d It may be ŷ Ioſeph wil hate vs, and wil paye vs againe all the euil, which we did vnto him.
16.Therefore they ſent vnto Ioſeph, ſayīg, Thy father commanded before his death, ſaying,
17.Thus ſhal ye ſay vnto Ioſeph, Forgiue now, I pray thee, ŷ treſpace of thy brethrē, and their ſinne: for they rewarded thee euil. And now, we pray thee, forgiue ŷ treſpace of the ſeruants of thy fathers e God. And Ioſeph wept, when " they ſpake vnto him.
18.Alſo his brethrē came vnto him, and fel downe before his face, & ſaid, Beholde, we be thy ſeruantes.
19.To whome Ioſeph ſaid, Feare not: for am not I vnder f God?
20.When ye thoght euil againſt me, God diſpoſed it to good, that he might bring to paſſe, as it is this day, and ſaue muche people aliue.
21.Feare not now therefore, I wil nouriſh you, and your children: and he comforted them, and ſpake " kindely vnto them.
22.¶ So Ioſeph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his fathers houſe: and Ioſeph liued an g hundreth and ten yere.
23.And Ioſeph ſawe Ephraims children, euen vnto the third generacion: alſo the ſonnes of Machir the ſonne of Manaſſéh were broght vp on Ioſephs knees.
24.And Ioſeph ſaid vnto his brethrē, * I am ready to dye, & God wil ſurely viſet you, and bring you out of this land vnto the land, which he ſware vnto Abrahám, vnto Izhák, and vnto Iaakób.
25.And Ioſeph toke an othe of the childrē of Iſraél, ſaying, h God wil ſurely viſet you, and ye ſhal cary my bones hence.
26.So Ioſeph dyed, when he was an hundreth and ten yere olde: and they enbaumed him & put him in a cheſt in Egypt.
