The mariage of Iudáh 29 The treſpaſſe of Er and Onán, and the vengeance of God that came therevpō. 18 Iudáh lyeth with his daughter in lawe Tamar. 29.30 The birth of Phárez and Zárah.
3.So ſhe conceiued and bare a ſonne, & he called his name Er.
5.Moreouer ſhe bare yet a ſonne, whome ſhe called Sheláh : and Iudáh was at Che-zíb when ſhe bare him.
6.Thé Iudáh toke a wife to Er his firſt borne ſonne whoſe name was Tamár.
9.And Onán knewe yͤ the ſede ſhulde not be his: therefore when he wēt in vnto his brothers wife, he ſpilled it on the groūde, left he ſhulde giue ſede vnto his brother.
10.And it was wicked in the eyes of yͤ Lord, which he did: wher fore he ſlewe hī alſo.
13.And it was tolde Tamár, ſaying, Beholde, thy father in lawe goeth vp to Timnáh, to ſhere his ſhepe.
15.When Iudáh ſawe her, he iudged her an whore: for ſhe had couered her face.
17.Then ſaid he, I wil ſend thee a kid of yͤ goates from the flocke. & ſhe ſaid, Wel, if thou wilt giue me a pledge, til yͤ ſend it.
19.Then ſhe roſe, and went & put her vaile frō her & put on her widowes raymēt.
21.Then aſked he the mē of that place, ſaying, Where is yͤ whore, that ſate in Enáim by yͤ way ſide? And they anſwered, There was no whore here.
22.He came therefore to Iudáh againe, & ſaid, I cā not finde her, & alſo the mē of yͤ place ſaid, There was no whore there.
25.When ſhe was broght forthe, ſhe ſent to her father in law, ſaying, By the man, vnto whome theſe thīgs perteine, am I with child : & ſaid alſo, Loke. I praye thee, whoſe theſe are, the ſeale, & yͤ cloke, and yͤ ſtaffe.
27.¶ Now whē the time was come that ſhe ſhulde be deliuered, beholde, there were twinnes in her wombe.
28.And when ſhe was in trauel, the one put out his hand : & the midwife toke and bounde a red threde about his hand, ſaying, This is come out firſt.
30.And afterwarde came out his brother yͤ had the red threde about his hand, and his name was called Zárah.
