Genesis 35

1 Iaakób at Gods commandement goeth up to Beth-él. 2 He reformeth his houſholde 8 Deboráh dyeth. 12 The land of Canaan is promiſed him. 18 Rahél dyeth in labour 22 Reubén lieth with his fathers cöcubine. 30 The death of Izhák.
1.THen a God ſaid to Iaakób, Ariſe, go vp to Beth-él & dwel there, & make there an altar vnto God, that appeared vn to thee, * whẽ thou fleddeſt from Eſáu thy brother.
2.Then ſaid Iaakób vnto his houſholde & to all that were with him, Put away the b ſtrãge gods that are among you, & clenſe your ſelues, and change your garments:
3.For we wil riſe and go vp to Beth-él, and I wil make an altar there vnto God, which heard me in the day of my tribulacion, & was with me in the way which I went.
4.And they gaue vnto Iaakób all the ſtrange gods, which were in their hands, and all c their earings which were in their eares, and Iaakób hid them vnder an oke, which was by Shechém.
5.Then they went on their iourney, and the d feare of God was vpon the cities, that were round about them: ſo that thei did not followe after the ſonnes of Iaakób.
6.So came Iaakób to Luz, which is in the land of Canáan: (the ſame is Beth-él) he and all the people that was with him.
7.And he buylt there an altar, & * had called the place, The God of Beth-él, becauſe that God appeared vnto him there, whẽ he fled from his brother.
8.Then Deboráh Rebekahs nourſe dyed, and was buryed beneth Beth-él vnder an " oke: and he called the name of it Allón bachúth.
9.¶ Againe God appeared vnto Iaakób, after he came out of Padán Arám, and bleſſed him.
10.Moreouer God ſaid vnto him, Thy name is Iaakób: thy name ſhal be no more called Iaakób, but * Iſraél ſhalbe thy name: and he called his name Iſraél.
11.Againe God ſaid vnto him, I am God " all ſufficiẽt. growe, & multiplie: a nation & a multitude of natiõs ſhal ſprĩg of thee, and Kings ſhal come out of thy loynes.
12.Alſo I wil giue ye land, which I gaue to Abraham and Izhák, vnto thee: & vnto thy ſede after thee wil I giue that land.
13.So God e aſcended from him in the place where he had talked with him.
14.And Iaakób ſet vp a piller in the place where he talked with him, a piller of ſtone, and powred drinke offring thereon: alſo he powred oyle thereon.
15.And Iaakób called the name of the place, where God ſpake with him, Beth-él.
16.¶ Then they departed from Beth-él, & whẽ there was f about halfe a daies iourney of grounde to come to Ephráth, Rahél trauailed, and in trauailing ſhe was in peril.
17.And when ſhe was in peines of her labour, the midwife ſaid vnto her, Feare not: for thou ſhalt haue this ſonne alſo.
18.Then as ſhe was about to yelde vp the goſte (for ſhe dyed) ſhe called his name Ben-oní, but his father called him Beniamín.
19.Thus dyed Rahél, & was buried in the way to Ephráth, which is Beth-léhem.
20.And Iaakób ſet a piller vpon her g graue: This is the piller of Rahels graue vnto this day.
21.¶ Thé Iſraél went forwarde, & pitched his tent beyonde Migdal-éder.
22.Now, when Iſraél dwelt in that land, Reubén went, and h laye with Bilháh his fathers concubine, and it came to Iſraels eare. And Iaakób had twelue ſonnes.
23.The ſonnes of Leáh: Reubén Iaakobs eldeſt ſonne, and Simeón, & Leuí, & Iudáh, & Iſſachár, & Zebulún.
24.The ſonnes of Rahél: Ioſéph and Beniamín.
25.And ye ſonnes of Bilháh Rahels maide: Dan and Naphtalí.
26.And the ſonnes of Zilpáh Leahs maide: Gad and Aſhér. * theſe are the ſonnes of Iaakób, which were borne him in Padán Arám.
27.¶ Then Iaakób came vnto Izhák his father to Mamré a citie of Arbáh: this is Hebrón, where Abrahám and Izhák were ſtrangers.
28.And the dayes of Izhák were an hundreth and foure ſcore yeres.
29.And Izhák gaue vp the goſte and dyed, and was * gathered vnto his people, being olde and ful of daies: & his ſonnes Eſáu and Iaakób buryed him.
