Genesis 31

Labans children murmure againſt Iaakób 3 God commandeth him to returne to his countrey 14 The care of God for Iaakób. 19 Rahél ſtealeth her fathers idoles. 25 Laban followeth Iaakób. 44 The couenant betwene Laban and Iaakób.
.NOw he heard the a wordes of Labās ſonnes, ſaying, Iaakób hathe taken away all that was our fathers, and of our fathers goods hathe he gottē all this honour.
.Alſo Iaakób behelde the countenance of Labán, " that it was not towards him as in times paſt:
.And the Lord had ſaid vnto Iaakób, Turne againe into the land of thy fathers, and to thy kinred, and I wil be with thee.
.Therefore Iaakób ſent and called Rahél and Leáh to the field vnto his flocke.
.The ſaid he vnto them, I ſe your fathers countenance, that it is not towarde me as it was wonte, and the b God of my father hathe bene with me.
.And ye knowe that I haue ſerued your father with all my might.
.But your father hathe deceiued me, and changed my wages " ten times: but God ſuffred him not to hurt me.
.If he thus ſaid, The ſpotted ſhalbe thy wages, thē all the ſhepe bare ſpotted: & if he ſaid thus, The partie coloured ſhalbe thy reward, thē bare all ye ſhepe partie coloured.
.Thus hathe e God taken awaie your fa- thers ſubſtance, and giuen it me.
." For in ramming time I lifted vp mine eies and ſawe in a dreame, and beholde, the he goates leaped vpó the ſhe goates , that were partie coloured with litle and great ſpottes ſpotted.
.And the Angel of God ſaid to me in a dreame, Iaakób. And I anſwered, Lo, I am here.
.And he ſaid, lift vp now thine eies, and ſe all the he goates leaping vpon the ſhe goates that are partie coloured, ſpotted with litle & great ſpottes: for I haue ſene all that Labán doeth vnto thee.
.f I am the God of Beth-él, where thou * anointedſt yͤ piller, where thou vowedſt a vowe vnto me. Now ariſe, get thee out of this countrei & returne vnto the land where thou waſt borne.
.Then anſwered Rahél and Leáh, and ſaid vnto him, Haue we anie more porci- on and inheritance in our fathers houſe?
.Doeth not he count vs as ſtrangers? for he hathe g ſolde vs, and hathe eaten vp & conſumed our monie.
.Therefore all yͤ riches, which God hathe taken from our father , is ours and our childrés: now then whatſoeuer God hathe ſaid vnto thee do it.
.¶Thé Iaakób roſe vp, and ſet his ſonnes and his wiues vpon camels.
.And he caried awaie all his flockes, and all his ſubſtance which he had gotten, to wit, his riches, which he had gotten in Padán Arám, for to go to Izhák his fa- ther vnto the land of Canáan.
.When Labán was gone to ſhere his ſhe- pe, then Rahél ſtale her fathers h idoles.
.Thus Iaakób * ſtale awaie the heart of Labán the Aramite: for he tolde him not that he fled.
.So fled he with all that he had, & he roſe vp, and paſſed the " riuer, and ſet his face toward mount Gileád.
.The third day after was it tolde Labán, that Iaakób fled.
.Then he toke his " brethren with him, & followed after him ſeuen dayes iourney, and " ouertoke him at mount Gileád.
.And God came to Labán the Aramite in a dreame by night, and ſaid vnto him, Take hede that thou ſpeake not to Iaakób " oght ſaue good.
.¶Then Labán ouertoke Iaakób, & Iaa- kób had pitched his tent in the mount: & Labán alſo with his brethren pitched vp- on mount Gileád.
.Then Labán ſaid to Iaakób, What haſt thou done? " thou haſt euen ſtollen away mine heart & caried away my daughters as thogh they had bene taken captiues wͭ the ſworde.
.Wherefore diddeſt thou flee ſo ſecretly & ſteale away from me, & diddeſt not tel me, that I might haue ſent thee forthe with mirth & with ſongs, with timbrel & with harpe?
.But thou haſt not ſuffered me to kiſſe my ſonnes and my daughters: now thou haſt done fooliſhly in doing ſo.
.I am " able to do you euil:but the i God of your father ſpake vnto me yeſter night, ſaying, Take hede that thou ſpeake not to Iaakób oght ſaue good.
.Now thogh thou wenteſt thy way, be- cauſe thou greatly longedſt after thy fa- thers houſe: yet wherefore haſt thou ſtollé my gods?
.Thé Iaakób anſwered, & ſaid to Labán, Becauſe I was afraid, & thoght that thou woldeſt haue taken thy daughters from me.
.But with whome thou findeſt thy gods, " let him not liue . Serche thou before our brethren what I haue of thine, and take it to thee (but Iaakób wiſt not that Rahél had ſtollen them)
.Then came Labán into Iaakobs tent, & into Leahs tent, and into the two maides tentes, but founde them not. ſo he wēt out of Leahs tent, & entred into Rahels tent.
.(Now Rahel had také the idoles & put them in the camels " litter & ſate downe vpon them) & Labán ſerched all the tent, but founde them not.
.Then ſaid ſhe to her father, "My lord, be " not angry that I can not riſe vp before thee:for the cuſtome of womē is vpon me: ſo he ſerched, but found not the idoles.
.¶Thé Iaakób was wroth, & chode with Labán: Iaakób alſo anſwered and ſaid to Labán, What haue I treſpaced?what haue I offended, that thou haſt purſued after me?
.Seing thou haſt ſerched all my ſtuffe, what haſt yͧ founde of all thine houſholde ſtuffe? put it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may iudge be- twene vs bothe.
.This twēty yere I haue bene with thee: thine ewes and thy goates haue not " caſt their yong,& the rams of thy flocke haue I not eaten.
." Whatſoeuer was torne of beaſtes,I broght it not vnto thee, but made it good my ſel- fe: * of mine hāde diddeſt thou require it, were it ſtollen by day or ſtollen by night.
.I was in the day conſumed with heat, and with froſt in the night, and my " ſlepe departed from mine eies.
.Thus haue I bene twenty yere in thine houſe, and ſerued thee fourtéth yeres for thy two daughters, and ſix yeres for thy ſhepe, and thou haſt changed my wages ten times.
.Except Except the God of my father, the God of Abrahám, & the k feare of Izhák had bene with me, ſurely thou haddeſt ſent me away now empty: but God behelde my tribulacion, & the labour of mine handes, & rebuked thee yeſter night.
.Then Labán anſwered, & ſaid vnto Iaakób, Theſe daughters are my daughters, and theſe ſonnes are my ſonnes, and theſe ſhepe are my ſhepe, and all that thou ſeeſt, is mine, and what can I do this day vnto theſe my daughters, or to their ſonnes which they haue borne?
.Now therefore l come and let vs make a couenant, I and thou, which may be a witnes betwene me and thee.
.Then toke Iaakób a ſtone, and ſet it vp as a piller:
.And Iaakób ſaid vnto his brethren, Gather ſtones: who broght ſtones, and made an heape, and they did eat there vpon the heape.
.And Labán called it * Iegár-ſahaduthá, and Iaakób called it m Galeéd.
.For Labán ſaid, This heape is witnes betwene me & thee this day: therefore he called the name of it Galeéd. Alſo he called it
.* Mizpáh, becauſe he ſaid, The Lord n loke betwene me & thee, when we ſhalbe departed one from another,
.If ÿ ſhalt vexe my daugthers, or ſhalt take o wiues beſide my daughters : there is no man with vs, beholde, God is witnes betwene me and thee.
.Moreouer Labán ſaid to Iaakób, Beholde this heape, & beholde, the piller, which I haue ſet betwene me and thee,
.This heape ſhalbe witnes, and the piller ſhalbe witnes, ÿ I wil not come ouer this heape to thee, and that ÿ ſhalt not paſſe ouer this heape & this piller vnto me for euil.
.The God of Abrahám, & the God of p Nahór, & ÿ God of their father be iudge betwene vs: but Iaakób ſware by the q feare of his father Izhák.
.Then Iaakób did offre a ſacrifice vpon the mount, and called his brethren to eat bread. and they did eat bread, & taried all night in the mount.
.And early in the morning Labán roſe vp and kiſſed his ſonnes & his daughters, & r bleſſed them, and Labán departing, went vnto his place againe.
