Genesis 21

2 Izhák is borne. 9 Iſhmaél mocketh Izhák. 14 Hagár is caſt out with her ſonne. 17 The Angel comforteth Hagár. 22 The couenãt betwene Abimélech & Abrahá.
1.NOw ye Lord viſited Saráh, as he had ſaid, and did vnto her * according as he had promiſed.
2.For * Saráh conceiued, & bare Abrahám a ſonne in his a olde age, at the fame ſeaſon that God tolde him.
3.And Abrahám called his ſonnes name that was borne vnto him, which Saráh bare him, Izhák.
4.Then Abrahám circumciſed Izhák his ſonne, when he was eight daies olde, * as God had commanded him.
5.So Abrahám was an hundreth yere olde, whẽ his ſonne Izhák was borne vnto him.
6.¶ Thé Saráh ſaid, God hathe made me to reioyce: all that heare wil reioyce w̃ me.
7.Againe ſhe ſaid, b Who wolde haue ſaid to Abrahám, that Saráh ſhulde haue giuen children ſucke? for I haue borne him a ſonne in his olde age.
8.Then the childe grewe & was weaned: & Abrahám made a great feaſt the ſame day that Izhák was weaned.
9.¶ And Saráh ſawe ye ſonne of Hagár the Egyptiã (which ſhe had borne vnto Abrahám) c mocking.
10.Wherefore ſhe ſaid vnto Abrahám, Caſt out this bond woman and her ſonne: for the ſonne of this bond woman ſhal not be heire with my ſonne Izhák.
11.And this thing was very grieuous in Abrahams ſight, becauſe of his ſonne.
12.¶ But God ſaid vnto Abrahám, Let it not be grieuous in thy ſight for the childe, and for thy bond womã: in all that Saráh ſhal ſaie vnto thee, heare her voice: for in Izhák ſhal thy ſede be d called.
13.As for ye ſonne of ye bond womã, I wil make hi e a naciõ alſo, becauſe he is thy ſede.
14.So Abrahám aroſe vp early in the morning, and toke bread, and a bottel of water, and gaue it vnto Hagár, putting it on her ſhulder and the childe * alſo * , and f ſent her away: who departing wandred in the wildernes of Beer-ſhéba.
15.And when the water of the bottel was ſpẽt, ſhe caſt ye childe vnder a certeine tre.
16.Then ſhe went and ſate her ouer againſt * him * a farre of about a bowe ſhote: for ſhe ſaid, I wil not ſe the death of the childe. and ſhe ſate downe ouer againſt * him * , and lift vp her voyce and wept.
17.Then God g heard the voyce of the childe, and the Angel of God called to Hagár from heauen, and ſaid vnto her, What aileth thee, Hagár? feare not, for God hathe heard ye voyce of the childe where he is.
18.Ariſe, take vp ye childe, and holde him in thine hand: for I wil make of him a great people.
19.And God h opened her eies, & ſhe ſawe a well of water: ſo ſhe went and filled the bottel with water, & gaue ye boye drinke.
20.So God was i with the childe & he grewe and dwelt in the wildernes, and was an " archer.
21.And he dwelt in the wildernes of Parán, and his mother toke him a wife out of the land of Egypt.
22.¶ And at that ſame time Abimélech and Phichól his chief captaine ſpake vnto Abrahám, ſaying, God * is * with thee in all ÿ thou doeſt.
23.Now therefore ſweare vnto me here by God, that thou wilt not " hurt me, nor my children, nor my childrens children: thou ſhalt deale with me, and with ye countrie, where thou haſt bene a ſtrãger, according vnto the kidenes that I haue ſhewed thee.
24.Then Abrahám ſaid, I wil k ſweare.
25.And Abrahám rebuked Abimélech for a well of water, w̃ Abim lechs ſeruants had violently taken away.
26.And Abimélech ſaid I knowe not who hathe done this thing: alſo thou toldeſt me not, neither heard I l * of it * but this daie.
27.Then Abrahám toke ſhepe, and beues, and gaue them vnto Abimélech: and they two made a couenant.
28.And Abrahám ſet ſeuen lambes of the
29.Then Abimélech ſaid vnto Abrahám, What meane theſe ſeuen lambes, which thou haſt ſet by them ſelues?
30.And he anſwered, Becauſe thou ſhalt receiue of mine hand theſe ſeuen lambes, yt it may be a witnes vnto me, that I haue digged this well.
31.Wherefore the place is called [“] Beer-ſhéba, becauſe there thei bothe ſware.
32.Thus made they a m couenant at Beer-ſhéba: afterward Abimélech & Phichól his chief captaine roſe vp, & turned againe vnto the land of the Philiſtims.
33.¶ And Abrahám planted a groue in Beer-ſhéba, and n called there on the Name of the Lord, the euerlaſting God.
34.And Abrahám was a ſtranger in the Philiſtims land a long ſeaſon.
