Genesis 22

1 The faith of Abrahám is proued in offring his ſonne Izhák. 8 Izhák is a figure of Chriſt. 20 The generacion of Nahór Abrahams brother, of whome cõmeth Rebekáh.
1.ANd after theſe thĩgs God did * proue Abrahám, & ſaid vnto hĩ, Abrahám. Who anſwered, Here am I.
2.And he ſaid, Take now thine onely ſonne Izhák whome thou loueſt, & get thee vnto the lande of a Moriáh, and b offre him there for a burnt offring vpon one of the mountaines, which I wil ſhewe thee.
3.Then Abrahám roſe vp early in the morning, and ſadled his aſſe, and toke two of his ſeruants with him, and Izhák his ſonne, and cloue wood for the burnt offring, and roſe vp and went to the place, which God had tolde him.
4.¶ Then ye third day Abrahám lift vp his eies, and ſawe the place a farre of,
5.And ſaid vnto his ſeruants, Abide you here wt the aſſe: for I & the childe wil go yóder & worſhip, & come againe vnto you.
6.Then Abrahám toke the wood of ye burnt offring, & laied it vpon Izhák his ſonne, & he toke the fire in his hand, & the c knife: and they went bothe together:
7.Then ſpake Izhák vnto Abrahám his father, & ſaid, My father. And he anſwered, Here am I, my ſonne. And he ſaid, Beholde the fire & the wood, but where is the lambe for the burnt offring?
8.Thẽ Abrahám anſwered, My ſonne, God wil prouide him a lambe for a burnt offring: ſo they went bothe together.
9.Whẽ they came to ye place wc God had ſhewed hĩ, Abrahám buylded an altar there, & couched ye wood, & bound Izhák his ſóne, & laied him on ye altar vpon ye d wood.
10.And Abrahám ſtretching forthe his hand, toke the e knife to kil his ſonne.
11.But ye Angel of the Lord called vnto him from heauẽ, ſaying, Abrahám, Abrahám. And he anſwered, Here am I.
12.Then he ſaid, Lay not thine hand vpon the childe, nether do anie thing vnto him: for now I f knowe that thou feareſt God, ſeing for my ſake thou haſt not ſpared thine onely ſonne.
13.And Abrahám lifting vp his eies, loked: & beholde, there was a ram behinde him caught by ye hornes in a buſhe. then Abraham wẽt & toke the ram & offred him vp for a burnt offring in ye ſtede of his ſonne.
14.And Abrahám called the name of that place, [“] g Iehouáh-iireh. as it is ſaid this day, In the mount wil the Lord be ſene.
15.¶ And the Angel of the Lord cryed vnto Abrahám from heauen the ſeconde time,
16.And ſaid, By h my ſelfe haue I ſworne (faith ye Lord) becauſe thou haſt done this thĩg, & haſt not ſpared thine onely ſonne,
17.Therefore wil I ſurely bleſſe thee, and wil greatly multiplie thy ſede, as ye ſtarres of the heauen, and as ye ſande which is vpon the ſeaſhore, and thy ſede ſhal poſſeſſe the " gate of his enemies.
18.* And in thy ſede ſhal all ye naciós of the earth be bleſſed, becauſe thou haſt obeyed my voyce.
19.Then turned Abrahám againe vnto his ſeruants, and they roſe vp and went together to Beer-ſhéba: and Abrahám dwelt at Beer-ſhéba.
20.¶ And after theſe thĩgs one tolde Abrahám, ſayig, Beholde Milcáh, ſhe hathe alſo borne children vnto thy brother Nahór:
21.To wit, Vz his eldeſt ſonne, & Buz his brother, & Kemuél the father of " Arám,
22.And Chéſed and Hazó, & Pildáſh, & Iidláph, and Bethuél.
23.And Bethuél begate Rebekáh: theſe eight did Milcáh beare to Nahór Abrahams brother.
24.And his i cócubine called Reumáh, ſhe bare alſo Tébah, & Gáham & Tháhaſh & Maacháh.
