Genesis 20

1 Abrahám dwelleth as a ſtranger in the land of Gerár. 2 Abimélech taketh awaie his wife 3 God reproueth the King. 9 And the King, Abrahã. 11 Sarah is reſtored with great giftes 17 Abrahám praieth, and the King and his are healed.
1.AFterwarde Abrahám departed thence toward the South countrie and dwelled betwene Cadésh & a Shur, and ſoiourned in Gerár.
2.And Abrahám ſaid of Saráh his wife, b She is my ſiſter. Thé Abimélech King of Gerár ſent and toke Saráh.
3.But God came to Abimélech in a dreame by night and ſaid to him, Beholde, c thou art but dead, becauſe of the womã, which thou haſt taken: for ſhe is a mans wife.
4.(Notwithſtanding Abimélech had not yet come nere her) And he ſaid, Lord, wilt thou ſlaie euen d the righteous nacion?
5.Said not he vnto me, She is my ſiſter? yea, and ſhe her ſelfe ſaid, He is my brother: wt an vpright minde, and e innocẽt hãds haue I done this.
6.And God ſaid vnto him by a dreame, I knowe yt thou dideſt this euen with an vpright minde, & I f kept thee alſo that thou ſhuldeſt not ſinne againſt me: therfore ſuffred I thee not to touche her.
7.Now then deliuer g ye man his wife againe: for he is a h Prophet, & he i ſhal praye for thee yt thou mayeſt liue: but if thou deliuer her not againe, be ſure yt thou ſhalt die the death, thou, & all that thou haſt.
8.Then Abimélech riſing vp early in the morning called all his ſeruãtes, and tolde all theſe things " vnto them, and the men were ſore afraide.
9.Afterward Abimélech called Abrahám, and ſaid vnto him, What haſt thou done vnto vs? and what haue I offended thee, that thou haſt broght on me and on my k kingdome this great ſinne? thou haſt done things vnto me that oght not to be done.
10.So Abimélech ſaid vnto Abrahám, What ſaweſt ÿ that ÿ haſt done this thĩg?
11.Then Abrahám anſwered, Becauſe I thoght * thus * , Surely ye l feare of God * is * not in this place, and they wil ſlay me for my wiues ſake.
12.Yet in very dede ſhe is my m ſiſter: for ſhe is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, & ſhe is my wife.
13.Now when God cauſed me to wandre out of my fathers houſe, I ſaid thẽ to her, This is thy kindenes that ÿ ſhalt ſhewe vn to me in all places where we come, * Say thou of me, He is my brother.
14.Then toke Abimélech ſhepe & beues, & men ſeruantes, and women ſeruantes, and gaue them vnto Abrahám, and reſtored him Saráh his wife.
15.And Abimélech ſaid, Behold, my land * is * " before thee: dwel where it pleaſeth thee.
16.Likewiſe to Saráh he ſaid, Beholde, I haue giuen thy brother a thouſand peces of ſiluer: beholde, he is ye o vaile of thine eies to all that are with thee, and to all * others * : and ſhe was p thus reproued.
17.¶ Then Abrahám praiſed vnto God, & God healed Abimélech, and his wife, and his maid ſeruants: and they bare children.
18.For ye Lord q had ſhut vp euerie wõbe of ye houſe of Abimélech, becauſe of Saráh Abrahams wife.
