Genesis 19

3 Lot receiueth two Angels into his houſe. 4 The filthy luſtes of the Sodomites 16 Lot is deliuered 24 Sodõ is deſtroied 26. Lots wife is made a piller of ſalt 33. Lots daughters lye with their father, of whome come Moab and Ammón.
1.ANd in yͤ euening their came two a Angels to Sodóm: and Lot ſate at the gate of Sodóm, & Lot ſawe them, & roſe vp to mete them, and he bowed him ſelfe with his face to the grownd:
2.And he ſaid, Se my Lords, I praie you turne in now into your ſeruants houſe, & tarie all night, and * waſh your fete, and ye ſhal riſe vp early and go your waies. Who ſaid, Naie, but we wil abide in the ſtrete all night.
3.Then b he preaſed vpon them earneſtly, and thei turned into him, and came to his houſe, and he made them a feaſt, and did bake vnleauened bread, and thei c did eat.
4.But before thei went to bed, the men of the citie, euen the men of Sodóm compaſſed the houſe round about from the yong to the olde, d all the people from all quarters.
5.Who cryíg vnto Lot ſaid to him, Where are yͤ men, which came to thee this night? bring them out vnto vs that we maie knowe them.
6.Then Lot went out at yͤ dore vnto them, and ſhut the dore after him,
7.And ſaid, I praie you, my brethren, do not ſo wickedly.
8.Beholde now, I haue two e daughters, wͤ haue not knowen man: thẽ wil I bring out now vnto you, and do to them as ſemeth you good: onely vnto theſe men do no- thing: f for therfore are thei come vnder the ſhadowe of my rofe.
9.Then thei ſaid, Awaie hence. and thei ſaid, He is come alone as a ſtranger, & ſhal he iudge and rule? we wil now deale worſe with thee then with them. So thei preaſed ſore vpon Lot * him ſelfe, & came to breake yͤ dore.
10.But the men put forthe their hand & pulled Lot into the houſe to them and ſhut to the dore.
11.* Then thei ſmote the men that were at the dore of yͤ houſe with blindenes bothe ſmale and great, ſo that thei were wearie in " ſeking the dore.
12.¶ Then the men ſaid vnto Lot, Whome haſt thou yet here? either ſonne in lawe or thy ſonnes, or thy daughters, or whatſoeuer thou haſt in the citie, bring it out of this place.
13.For we g wil deſtroie this place, becauſe the * crie of them is great before yͤ Lord, and the Lord hathe ſent vs to deſtroie it.
14.Then Lot went out and ſpake vnto his ſonnes in lawe, which " maried his daugh- ters, & ſaid, Ariſe, get you out of this place: for the Lord wil deſtroie the citie: but he ſemed to his ſonnes in lawe as thogh he had mocked.
15.¶ And when yͤ morning aroſe, the Angels haſted Lot, ſaying, Ariſe, take thy wife and thy two daughters " which are here, leſt yͤ be deſtroied in the puniſhmẽt of the citie.
16.And as he h prolonged the time, * the men caught bothe him & his wife, and his two daughters by the handes (ye Lord being merciful vnto him) & they broght him forthe, & ſet him without the citie.
17.¶ And when they had broght thẽ out, the Angel ſaid: eſcape for thy life: i loke not behinde thee, nether tarie thou in all the plaine: eſcape into the mountaine, leſt thou be deſtroied.
18.And Lot ſaid vnto them, Not ſo, I praie thee, my Lord.
19.Beholde now, thy feruant hathe founde grace in thy ſight, and thou haſt magnified thy mercie, which thou haſt ſhewed vnto me in ſauing my life: and I can not eſcape in the mountaine, leſt ſome euil take me, and I die.
20.Se now this citie hereby to flee vnto, which is a litle one: Oh let me eſcape thi ther: is it not a k litle one, & my ſoule ſhal liue?
21.Then he ſaid vnto him, Beholde, I haue receiued thy requeſt alſo cõcerning this thing, that I wil not ouerthrowe this citie, for the which thou haſt ſpoken.
22.Haſte thee, ſaue thee there: for I cã do l nothĩg til thou be come thether. Therfore ye name of ye citie was called m Zóar.
23.¶ The ſunne did riſe vpon the earth, whẽ Lot entred into Zóar.
24.Then the Lord * rained vpon Sodóm and vpon Gomoráh brimſtone, and fire from the Lord out of heauen,
25.And he ouerthréwe thoſe cities and all the plaine, & all the inhabitãts of the cities, and that that grewe vpon the earth.
26.¶ Now his wife behinde him loked backe, and was turned in to a n piller of ſalt.
27.¶ And Abrahám riſing vp early in ye mornig went to ye place, where he had ſtand before the Lord, and loking toward Sodóm and Gomoráh and toward all the land of the plaine:
28.Beholde, he ſawe the ſmoke of the land mounting vp as the ſmoke of a fornace.
29.¶ But yet when God deſtroied the cities of the plaine, God thoght vpon Abrahám, and ſent Lot out from the middes of the deſtructiõ, whẽ he ouerthrewe the cities, wherein Lot dwelled.
30.¶ Then Lot went vp frõ Zóar, and dwelt in the mountaine with his two daughters: for he o feared to tarie in Zóar, but dwelt in a caue, he, and his two daughters.
31.And the elder ſaid vnto ye yonger, Our father is olde, and there is not a man in the p earth to come in vnto vs after the maner of all the earth.
32.Come, we wil make our father q drinke wine, and lye with him, that we maie preſerue ſede of our father.
33.So thei made their father drinke wine ye night, and the elder went and laie with her father: but he perceiued not, nether when ſhe laie downe, nether when ſhe roſe vp.
34.And on the morow the elder ſaid to the yonger, Beholde, yeſter night laie I with my father: let vs make him drinke wine this night alſo, and go thou and lye with him, yt we maie "" preſerue ſede of õ father.
35.So thei made their father drinke wine yt night alſo, and the yonger aroſe, and laie with him, but he perceiued not, when ſhe laie downe, nether when ſhe roſe vp.
36.Thus were r bothe the daughters of Lot with childe by their father.
37.And the elder bare a ſonne, & ſhe called his name Moáb: s the ſame is the father of ye Moabites vnto this daie.
38.And the yonger bare a ſonne alſo, and ſhe called his name Ben-ammi: the t ſame is ye father of ye Ammonites vnto this daie.
