Genesis 17

5 Abrams name is changed to confirme him in the pro-mes. 8 The land of Canáan is the fift time promiſed. 10 Circūciſion is instituted. 15 Sarai is named Saráh. 18 Abrahā prayeth for Iſhmaél 19 Izhák is promiſed.
1.WHen Abrám was ninety yere ol-de and nine, the Lord appeared to Abrám, and ſaid vnto him, I am God " all ſufficient. * walke before me, and be thou " vpright,
2.And I wil make my couenant betwene me and thee, and I wil multiply thee ex-ceadingly.
3.Then Abrám fel on his face, and God talked with him, ſaying,
4.Beholde, I make my couenant with thee, & thou ſhalt be a a father of manie naciōs,
5.Nether ſhal thy name anie more be cal-led Abrám, but thy name ſhalbe b Abra-hám: * for a father of manie nacions haue I made thee.
6.Alſo I wil make thee exceading fruteful, and wil make nacions of thee: yea, Kings ſhal procede of thee.
7.Moreouer I wil eſtabliſh my couenant betwene me and thee, and thy ſede after thee in their generacions, for an * euerla-ſting couenant, to be God vnto thee and to thy ſede after thee.
8.And I wil giue thee and thy ſede after thee the land, wherin thou art a ſtranger, euen all the lād of Canáan, for an euerla-ſting poſſeſsion, and I wil be their God.
9.¶ Againe God ſaid vnto Abrahám, Thou alſo ſhalt kepe my couenant, thou, and thy ſede after thee in their generacions.
10.c This is my couenant, which ye ſhal ke-pe betwene me and you, and thy ſede after thee, * Let euerie man childe among you be circumciſed:
11.That is, ye ſhal circumciſe the d foreſkin of your fleſh, and it ſhal be a * ſigne of the couenāt betwene me and you.
12.And euerie mā childe of eight daies ol-de among you, ſhalbe circūciſed in your generaciõs, aſwel he that is borne in thine houſe, as he that is boght with money of any ſtranger, which is not of thy ſede.
13.He that is borne in thine houſe, and he that is boght with thy money, muſt nedes be circumciſed: ſo my couenant ſhal be in your fleſh for an euerlaſting couenant.
14.But the vncircumciſed e man childe, in whoſe fleſh the foreſkinne is not circumciſed, euen that perſonne ſhal be cut of frõ his people, becauſe he hathe brokẽ my couenant.
15.Afterward God ſaid vnto Abrahám, Sa:ái thy wife ſhalt thou not call Sa:ái, but Sa:áh ſhalbe her name.
16.And I wil bleſſe her, & wil alſo giue thee a ſonne of her, yea, I wil bleſſe her & ſhe ſhalbe " the mother of nations: Kings alſo of people ſhal come of her.
17.Thẽ Abrahám fel vpõ his face, & f laughed, & ſaid in his heart, Shal a childe be borne vnto him, that is an hundreth yere olde? and ſhal Saráh that is ninetie yere olde beare?
18.And Abrahám ſaid vnto God, * Oh, that Iſhmaél might liue in thy ſight.
19.Thẽ God ſaid, Saráh thy wife ſhal beare thee a ſonne in dede, & thou ſhalt call his name Izhák: & I wil eſtabliſh my couenant with him for g an euerlaſting couenãt, and with his ſede after him.
20.And as cõcerning Iſhmaél, I haue heard thee: lo I haue bleſſed him, and wil make him fruteful, and wil multiplie him " exceadingly: twelue princes ſhal he beget, and I wil make a great nacion of him.
21.But my couenant wil I eſtabliſh with Izhák, which Saráh ſhal beare vnto thee, at next *yere at this ſeaſon.
22.And he left of talking with him, and God went vp from Abrahám.
23.¶ Then Abrahám toke Iſhmaél his ſonne, and all that were borne in his houſe, & all that was boght with his money, that is, euerie man childe among the men of Abraháms houſe, and hhe circumciſed the foreſkinne of their fleſh in that ſelf ſame day, as God had commanded him.
24.Abrahám alſo him ſelfe was ninety yere olde & nine, when the foreſkinne of his fleſh was circumciſed.
25.And Iſhmaél his ſonne was thirtene yere olde, when the foreſkinne of his fleſh was circumciſed.
26.The ſelfe ſame day was Abrahám circumciſed, and Iſhmaél his ſonne:
27.And all the men of his houſe, bothe borne in his houſe, and boght with money of the ſtrãger, were circumciſed with him.
