Genesis 16

1 Sarái being barren, giueth Hagár to Abrám. 4 Which cōceiueth & deſpiſeth her dame: 6 And being il handled fleeth 7 The Angel comforteth her 11,12 The name and maners of her ſonne 13 She calleth vpon the Lord, whome she findeth true.
1.NOw a Sarái Abrams wife bare him no children, and she had a maide an Egyptian, Hagár by name.
2.And Sarái ſaid vnto Abrám, Beholde now, the Lord hathe b reſtrayned me from childe bearing. I pray thee go in vnto my maide: it may be yͤ I ſhal " receiue a childe by her. And Abrám obeyed the voice of Sarái.
3.Then Sarái Abrams wife toke Hagár her maide the Egyptian, after Abrám had dwelled ten yere in the land of Canáan, and gaue her to her houſband Abrám for his wife.
4.¶ And he wēt in vnto Hagár, & she con-ceiued. and when she sawe yͤ she had con-ceiued, her dame was c deſpiſed in her eies.
5.Then Sarái ſaid to Abrám, Thou doeſt me " wrōg. I haue giuen my maide into thy boſome, and she seeth that she hathe cōceiued, and I am deſpiſed in her eies: yͤ Lord iudge betwene me and thee.
6.Then Abrám ſaid to Sarái, Beholde, thy maide is in thine " hand : do with her as it pleaſeth thee. Thē Sarái delt roughly with her: wherfore she fled from her.
7.¶ But the d Angel of the Lord founde her beſide a fountayne of water in the wilder-nes by the fountaine in the way to Shur,
8.And he ſaid, Hagár Sarais maide, whence comeſt thou? and whether wilt thou go? And she ſaid, I flee from my dame Sarái.
9.Thē the Angel of yͤ Lord ſaid to her, e Returne to thy dame, and humble thy ſelfe vnder her handes.
10.Againe the Angel of the Lord ſaid vn-to her, I wil ſo greatly encreaſe thy ſede, that it ſhal not be nōbred for multitude.
11.Alſo the Angel of the Lord ſaid vnto her, Se, thou art with childe, and ſhalt bea-re a ſonne, and ſhalt call his name Iſhmaél: for the Lord hathe heard thy tribula-tion.
12.And he ſhal be a " wilde man: his hand ſhalbe againſt euerie man, and euerie mās hād againſt him. * and f he ſhal dwel in the preſence of all his brethren.
13.Then she called the name of the Lord, that ſpake vnto her, Thou God lokeſt on me: for she ſaid, g Haue I not alſo here lo-ked after him that ſeeth me?
14.* Wherfore the well was called, " Beér-la hái-roí. lo, it is betwene Kadéſh & Béred.
15.¶ And Hagár bare Abrám a ſonne, and A-brám called his ſonnes name, which Ha-gár bare, Iſhmaél.
16.And Abrám was foure ſcore and ſixe ye-re olde, when Hagár bare him Iſhmaél.

It ſemeth that she had reſpect to Gods promes, which colde not be accom-pliſhed with-out iſſue
