Joshua 3

3 Ioſhúa commandeth them to departe whẽ the Arke remoueth. 7 The Lord promiseth to exalt Ioſhúa before the people. 9 Ioſhuas exhortacion to the people. 16 The waters parte aſunder whiles the people paſſe.
1.THen a Ioſhúa roſe verie early, & they remoued from Shittím, and came to Iordén, he, & all the children of Iſraél, & lodged there, before they went ouer.
2.And after b thre daies the officers went throughout the hoſte,
3.And commãded the people, ſaying, Whẽ ye ſe ye Arke of the couenant of the Lord your God, and the Prieſts of the Leuites bearing it, ye ſhal departe from your place, and go after it.
4.Yet there ſhalbe a ſpace betwene you & it, about " two thouſand cubites by meaſure: ye ſhal not come nere vnto it, that ye may knowe the way, by the which ye ſhal go: for ye haue not gone this way in times paſt.
5.(Now Ioſhúa had ſaid vnto the people, * Sanctifie your ſelues : for tomorrowe the Lord wil do wonders among you)
6.Alſo Ioſhúa ſpake vnto the Prieſts, ſaying, Take vp the Arke of the couenant, and go ouer before the people: ſo thei toke vp the Arke of the couenant, and went before the people.
7.¶Then the Lord ſaid vnto Ioſhúa, This day wil I begin to magnifie thee in the ſight of all Iſraél, which ſhal knowe, that * as I was with Moſés, ſo wil I be with thee.
8.Thou ſhalt therefore cõmãde the Prieſts that beare the Arke of the couenant, ſaying, When ye are come to the brinke of the waters of Iordén, ye ſhal ſtand ſtil c in Iordén.
9.¶Then Ioſhúa ſaid vnto the children of Iſraél, Come hether, and heare the wordes of the Lord your God.
10.And Ioſhúa ſaid, d Hereby ye ſhal knowe that the liuing God is among you, & that he wil certeinly caſt out before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hiuites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgaſhites, and the Amorites, and the Iebuſites.
11.Beholde, the Arke of the couenant of the Lord of all the worlde paſſeth before you into Iordén.
12.Now therefore take from among you e twelue men out of the tribes of Iſraél, out of euerie tribe a man.
13.And aſſone as the ſoles of the fete of the Prieſts (that beare the Arke of the Lord God the Lord of all the worlde) ſhal ſtay in the waters of Iordén, the waters of Iordén ſhalbe cut of: for the waters that come from aboue, * ſhal ſtand ſtil vpon an heape.
14.¶Then when the people were departed from their tentes to go ouer Iordén, the Prieſts bearing the * Arke of the couenãt, went before the people.
15.And as thei that bare the Arke came vnto Iordén, and the fete of the Prieſts that bare the Arke were dipped in the brinke of the water, ( * for Iordén vſeth to fil all his f bankes all the time of haruest)
16.Then the waters that came downe from aboue, ſtayed and roſe vpon an heape and departed far frõ the citie of Adám, yͭ was beſide Zaretán : but the waters that came
17.But the Prieſts that bare the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, ſtode drye within Iordén g ready prepared, and all the Iſraelites went ouer drye, vntil all the people were gone cleane ouer through Iordén.
