Joshua 1

2 The Lord incourageth Ioſhúa to inuade the lād. 4 The borders and limites of the lād of the Iſraelites. 5 The Lord promiſeth to aſſiſt Ioſhúa, if he obey his worde. 11 Ioſhúa commandeth the people to prepare thē ſelues to paſſe ouer Iordén, 12 And exhorteth the Reubenites to execute their charge
1.NOw after ŷ a death of Moſés the ſeruāt of the Lord, ŷ Lord ſpake vnto Ioſhúa the ſonne of Nun, Moſés miniſter, ſaying,
2.Moſés my ſeruāt is dead: now therefore ariſe, go ouer this Iordén, thou, and all this people, vnto the land which I giue them, that is, to the children of Iſraél.
3.* Euerie place that the ſole of your fote ſhal tread vpon, haue I giuē you, as I ſaid vnto Moſés.
4.* Fró the b wildernes and this Lebanón euen vnto ŷ great Riuer, the riuer " Peráth: all the land of the c Hittites, euen vnto the great d ſea toward the going downe of the ſunne, ſhal be your coaſt.
5.There ſhal not a man be able to withſtād thee all the dayes of thy life: as I was with Moſés, ſo wil I be with thee: * I wil not leaue thee, nor forſake thee.
6.Be ſtrong and of a good courage: for vnto this people ſhalt thou deuide the land for an inheritance, which I ſware vnto their fathers to giue them.
7.Onely be thou ſtrong, "and of a moſte valiant courage, that thou maieſt obſerue and do according to all the Lawe which Moſés my ſeruant hathe commãded thee: * thou ſhalt not turne away from it to the right hãd, nor to the left, that thou maieſt e proſper whetherſoeuer thou goeſt.
8.Let not this boke of the Lawe depart out of thy mouth, but meditate therein day and f night, that thou maiſt obſerue & do according to all that is written therein: for then ſhalt thou make thy way proſperous, & then ſhalt thou "haue good ſucceſſe.
9.Haue not I commanded thee, ſaying, Be ſtrong and of a good courage, feare not nor be diſcouraged? for I the Lord thy God wilbe with thee, whetherſoeuer thou goeſt.
10.¶ Then Ioſhúa commanded the officers of the people, ſaying,
11.Paſſe through the hoſte, and commande the people, ſaying, Prepare you vitailes: for g after thre daies ye ſhal paſſe ouer this Iordén, to go in to poſſeſſe the land, which the Lord your God giueth you to poſſeſſe it.
12.¶ And vnto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to halfe the tribe of Manaſſéh ſpake Ioſhúa, ſaying,
13.* Remember the worde, which Moſés the ſeruant of the Lord commãded you, ſaying, The Lord your God hathe giuen you reſt, and hathe giuen you this h land.
14.¶ Your wiues, your childrẽ, & your cattel ſhal remaine in the land which Moſés gaue you on "this ſide Iordén: but ye ſhal go ouer before your brethren armed, all that be men of warre, & ſhal helpe them,
15.Vntil the Lord haue giuen your brethren reſt, as wel as to you, & vntil thei alſo ſhal poſſeſſe the land, which ye Lord your God giueth them: then ſhal ye returne vnto the land of your poſſeſſion and ſhal poſſeſſe it, which land Moſés the Lords ſeruant i gaue you on this ſide Iordén towarde the ſunne riſing.
16.Then thei anſwered Ioſhúa, ſaying, All that thou haſt commanded vs, we wil do, and whetherſoeuer thou ſendeſt vs, we wil go.
17.As we obeyed Moſés in all things, k ſo wil we obey thee: onely the Lord thy God be with thee as he was with Moſés.
18.Whoſoeuer ſhal rebelle againſt thy cõmandement, and wil not obey thy wordes in all that thou commandeſt him, let him be put to death: onely be ſtrõg & of good courage.
