Numbers 5

2 The Leprous & the polluted ſhalbe caſt forthe 6 The purging of ſinne 15 The tryal of the ſuſpect wife.
1.ANd ye Lord ſpake vnto Moſés, ſayi n g,
2.a Commande the children of Iſraél yt they * put out of the hoſte euerie leper, and euerie one yt hathe * an iſſue, & whoſoeuer is defiled by * the dead.
3.Bothe male and female ſhal ye put out: out of ye hoſte ſhal ye put the m , that they de file not their * te n tes amo n g whome I dwell.
4.And the children of Iſraél did ſo, and put the m out of ye hoſte, euen as ye Lord had co m manded Moſés, ſo did ye childré of Iſrael.
5.¶ And ye Lord ſpake vnto Moſés, ſaying,
6.Speake vnto the children of Iſraél, Whe n a man or woman ſhal commit anie ſinne b that men commit, and trãſgreſſe againſt the Lord, when that perſone ſhal treſpas,
7.Then they ſhal co n feſſe their ſinne which thei haue done, and ſhal reſtore the dommage thereof * with his principal, and put the fift parte of it more thereto, and ſhal giue it vnto him, againſt whome he hathe treſpaſſed.
8.But if the c man haue no kinſman, to whome he ſhulde reſtore the dommage, the dommage ſhalbe reſtored to the Lord for the Prieſts vſe, beſides the ram of the atonement, whereby he ſhal make atonement for him.
9.And euerie offring of all the " holy things of the childré of Iſraél, which they bring vnto the Prieſt, ſhalbe * his.
10.And euerie mans halowed things ſhalbe his: that is, whatſoeuer anie man giueth the Prieſt, it ſhalbe his.
11.¶ And ye Lord ſpake vnto Moſés, ſaying,
12.Speake vnto the children of Iſraél, and ſay vnto them, If anie ma n s e wife turne to euil, and commit a treſpas againſt him,
13.So that another man lie with her fleſhly, and it be hid fró the eies of her houſbãd, and kept cloſe, and yet ſhe be defiled, and there be no witnes againſt her, nether ſhe taken with the maner,
14.[”]If he be moued with a ielous minde, ſo that he is ielous ouer his wife, which is defiled, or if he haue a ielous minde, ſo that he is ielous ouer his wife, which is no: defiled,
15.Then ſhal the man bring his wife to the Prieſt, and bring her offring with her, the tenth parte of an Epháh of barly meale, but he ſhal not powre f oyle vpon it, nor put incens thereon: for it is an offring of ielouſie, an offring for a remembrãce, calling the ſinne to g minde:
16.And the Prieſt ſhal bring her, & ſet her before the Lord.
17.Then the Prieſt ſhal take h the holy water in an earthé veſſel, and of the duſt that is in the floore of the Tabernacle, euen the Prieſt ſhal take it and put it into the water.
18.After, the Prieſt ſhal ſet the woman before the Lord, and vncouer the womans head, and put the offring of the memorial in her hands: it is the ielouſie offring: and the Prieſt ſhal haue bitter and curſed wa- i ter in his hand,
19.And the Prieſt ſhal charge her by an othe, and ſay vnto the woman, If no man haue lien with thee, nether thou haſt turned to vncle n nes from thine houſband, be fre from this bitter and curſed water.
20.But if thou haſt turned from thine houſband, and ſo art defiled, and ſome man hathe lien with thee beſide thine houſband,
21.(Then the Prieſt ſhal charge the womã with an othe of curſing, and the Prieſt ſhal ſay vnto the woman) The Lord make thee to be k accurſed, and deteſtable for the othe amōg thy people, & ye Lord cauſe thy thigh to " rott, and thy belly to ſwel:
22.And that this curſed water maie go into thy bowels, to cauſe thy belly to ſwel, and thy thigh to rott. Thē the woman ſhal anſwer, l Amen, Amen.
23.After, the Prieſt ſhal write theſe curſes in a boke, and ſhal m blot them out with the bitter water,
24.And ſhal cauſe the woman to drinke the bitter and curſed water, and the curſed water, turned into bitternes, ſhal entre into her.
25.Thē the Prieſt ſhal take the ielouſie offring out of the womans hand, & ſhal ſhake the offring before the Lord, and offer it vpon the altar.
26.And the Prieſt ſhal take an handful of the offring for a " n memorial thereof, and burne it vpon the altar, and afterward make ye woman drinke the water.
27.When he hathe made her drinke the water, (if ſhe be defiled and haue treſpaſſed againſt her houſbād) then ſhal the curſed water, turned into bitternes, entre into her, and her belly ſhal ſwel, and her thigh ſhal rott, & the woman ſhalbe accurſed amōg her people,
28.But if the woman be not defiled, but be cleane, ſhe ſhal be fre and ſhal cōceiue & beare.
29.This is the lawe of ielouſie, when a wife turneth frō her houſband & is defiled,
30.Or when a man is moued with a ielous minde being ielous ouer his wife, then ſhal he bring the woman before ye Lord, and the Prieſt ſhal do to her according to all this lawe,
31.And the man ſhalbe o fre froin ſinne, but this woman ſhal beare her iniquitie.
