2 Unto the Leuites are giuen cities and suburbes. 11 The cities of refuge 16 The lawe of murther. 30 For one mans witnes shal no man be condemned.
1.ANd the Lord ſpake vnto Moſés in ye plaine of Moáb by Iordén, toward Ierichó, ſaying,
3.So they ſhal haue the cities to dwel in, & their ſuburbes ſhalbe for their cattel, and for their ſubſtance, & for all their beaſtes.
4.And the ſuburbes of the cities, which ye ſhal giue vnto the Leuites, from the wall of the citie outwarde, ſhalbe a thouſand cubites round about.
7.All the cities which ye ſhal giue to ye Leuites, ſhalbe eight and fourtie cities: them ſhal ye giue with their ſuburbes.
8.And concerning the cities which ye ſhal giue, of the poſſeſſion of the children of Iſraél: of many ye ſhal take mo, and of fewe ye ſhal take leſſe: euerie one ſhal giue of his cities vnto the Leuites, according to his inheritance, which he inheriteth.
9.¶And the Lord ſpake vnto Moſés, ſaying,
11.Ye ſhal appoint you cities, to be cities of refuge for you, that the ſlayer, which ſlayeth anie perſone vnwares, may flee thither.
13.And of the cities which ye ſhal giue, ſix cities ſhal ye haue for refuge.
18.Or if he ſmite him with an hãd weapon of wood, wherewith he may be ſlaine, if he dye, he is a murtherer, and the murtherer ſhal dye the death.
19.The reuenger of the blood him ſelfe ſhal ſlay the murtherer: when he meteth him, he ſhal ſlay him.
21.Or ſmite him through enemitie with his hand, that he dye, he that ſmote him ſhal dye the death:for he is a murtherer:the reuenger of the blood ſhal ſlay the murtherer when he meteth him.
23.Or anie ſtone(whereby he might be ſlaine) and ſawe him not, or cauſed it to fall vpon him, and he dye, & was not his enemie, neither ſought him anie harme,
26.But if the ſlayer come without the borders of the citie of his refuge, whither he was fled,
28.Becauſe he ſhulde haue remained in the citie of his refuge, vntil the death of the hye Prieſt: and after the death of the hie Prieſt: the ſlayer ſhal returne vnto ye land of his poſſeſsion.
32.Alſo ye ſhal take no recompenſe for him that is fled to the citie of his refuge, that he ſhuld come againe, and dwel in the land, before the death of the hie Prieſt.
34.Defile not therefore the land which ye ſhal inhabite, for I dwel in the middes thereof: for I the Lord dwel among the children of Iſraél.
