Numbers 24

1 Balaám prophecieth of the great proſperitie that ſhulde come vnto Iſraél 17 Alſo of the coming of Chriſt. 20 The deſtruction of the Amalekites, and of the Kenites.
1.WHen Balaám ſawe that it pleaſed the Lord, to bleſſe Iſraél, then he went not, as certeine times before, to ſet diuinacions, but ſet his face towarde the wildernes.
2.And Balaám lift vp his eies, and loked vpõ Iſraél, which dwelt according to their tribes, and the Spirit of God came vpon him.
3.And he vttered his parable, and ſaid, Balaám the ſonne of Beór hathe ſaid, and the man, whoſe eies were ſhut vp, hathe ſaid,
4.He hathe ſaid, which heard the wordes of God, and ſawe the viſion of the Almightie, and falling in a trance had his eies opened.
5.How goodlie are thy tẽts, ô Iaakób, & thine habitacions, ô Iſraél?
6.As the valleys, are thei ſtretched forthe, as gardés by the riuers ſide, as the aloe trees, which the Lord hathe planted, as the cedars, beſide the waters.
7.The water droppeth out of his bucket, and his ſede ſhalbe in many waters, & his King ſhalbe hier then Agág, & his kingdom ſhalbe exalted.
8.God broght him out of Egypt: his ſtrength ſhalbe as an vnicorne: he ſhal eat the nacions his enemies, and bruiſe their bones, and ſhoote them through with his arrowes.
9.He coucheth and lieth downe as a yong lyon, & as a lyon: who ſhal ſtirre him vp? bleſſed is he that bleſſeth thee, and curſed is he that curſeth thee.
10.Then Balák was verie angry w̃ Balaám, and ſmote his hands together: ſo Balák ſaid vnto Balaám, I ſent for thee to curſe mine enemies, and beholde, thou haſt bleſſed them now thie times.
11.Therefore now flee vnto thy place: I thoght ſurely to promote thee vnto honour, but lo, the Lord hathe kept thee backe from honour.
12.Then Balaám anſwered Balák, Tolde I not alſo thy meſſengers, which thou ſen- teſt vnto me, ſaying,
13.If Balák wolde giue me his houſe ful of ſiluer and golde, I can not paſſe the commandement of the Lord, to do ether good or bad of mine owne minde? what the Lord ſhal cõmãde, that ſame wil I ſpeake.
14.And now beholde, I go vnto my people: come, I wil aduertiſe thee what this people ſhal do to thy folké in the later daies.
15.And he vttered his parable, and ſaid, Balaám the ſonne of Beór hathe ſaid, and the man whoſe eies were ſhut vp, hathe ſaid.
16.He hathe ſaid that heard the wordes of God, & hathe the knowledge of the moſte high, & ſawe the viſion of the Almightie, and falling in a trance had his eies opened:
17.I ſhal ſe him, but not now: I ſhal beholde him, but not nere: there ſhal come a ſtarre of Iaakób, and a ſcepter ſhal riſe of Iſraél, and ſhal ſmite the coaſtes of Moáb, and deſtroye all the ſonnes of Shéth.
18.And Edóm ſhalbe poſſeſſed, and Seír ſhalbe a poſſeſſion to their enemies: but Iſraél ſhal do valiantly.
19.He alſo that ſhal haue dominiõ ſhalbe of Iaakób, and ſhal deſtroye the remnant of the citie.
20.And when he loked on Amalék, he vttered his parable, and ſaid, Amalék was the firſt of the nacions: but his later end ſhal come to deſtruction.
21.And he loked on the Kenites, and vttered his parable, and ſaid, Strong is thy dwelling place, and put thy neſt in the rocke.
22.Neuertheles, the Kenite ſhalbe ſpoiled vntil Aſhúr cary thee away captiue.
23.Againe he vttered his parable, and ſaid, Alas, who ſhal liue when God doeth this?
24.The ſhippes alſo ſhal come frõ the coaſtes of Chittím and ſubdue Aſſhúr, and ſhal ſubdue Ebér, and he alſo ſhal come to deſtruction.
25.Then Balaám roſe vp, and went and returned to his place: and Balák alſo went his way.
