Leviticus 16

2 The Prieſt might not at all times come into the moſte holy place 8 The ſcape goat 14 The purging of the Sanctuarie 17 The clenſing of the Tabernacle 21 The Prieſt confeſſeth the ſinnes of the people. 29 The feaſt of clenſing ſinnes.
1.FVrthermore the Lord ſpake vnto Moſés, * after the death of the two ſonnes of Aarón, when thei came to offer before the Lord, and dyed:
2.And the Lord ſaid vnto Moſés, Speake vnto Aarón thy brother, * that he come not at a all times in to the Holy place within the vaile, before the Merciſeat, which is vpon the Arke, that he dye not: for I wil appeare in the cloude vpon the Merciſeat.
3.After this ſort ſhal Aarón come into the Holy place : euen with a yong bullocke for a ſinne offring, and a ram for a burnt offring.
4.He ſhal put on the holy linen coat, and ſhal haue linen breches vpon his " fleſh, and ſhalbe girded with a linen girdel, and ſhal couer his head with a linen mitre: theſe are the holy garments : therefore ſhal he waſh his fleſh in water, when he doeth put them on.
5.And he ſhal take of the Congregacion of the children of Iſraél, two he goates for a ſinne offring, and a ram for a burnt offring.
6.Then Aarón ſhal offer the bullocke for his ſinne offring, * & make an atonement for him ſelfe, and for his houſe.
7.And he ſhal take the two he goates, and preſent them before the Lord at the dore of the Tabernacle of the Congregacion.
8.Then Aarón ſhal caſt lots ouer the two he goates: one lot for the Lord, and the other for the b Scape goat.
9.And Aarón shal offer the goat, vpon which the Lords lot shal fall, and make him a sinne offring.
10.But the goat, on which the lot shal fall to be the Scape goat, shalbe presented aliue before the Lord, to make reconciliacion by him, & to let him go (as a Scape goat) into the wildernes.
11.Thus Aaron shal offer the bullocke for his sinne offring, & make a reconciliacion for himselfe, and for his house, and shal kill the bullocke for his sinne offring.
12.And he shal take a censer ful of burning coles from of the Altar before the Lord, & his handful of swete incens beate small, and bring it within the e vaile;
13.And shal put the incens vpon the fire before the Lord, that the * cloude of the incens may couer the Merciseat that is vpon the Testimonie: so he shal not dye.
14.And he shal * take of the blood of the bullocke, * and sprinkle it with his finger vpon the Merciseat f Eastward: and before the Merciseat shal he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seuen times.
15.¶ Then shal he kil the goat that is the peoples sinne offring, & bring his blood within the vaile, and do with that blood, as he did with the blood of the bullocke, & sprinkle it vpon the Merciseat, and before the Merciseat.
16.So he shal purge the Holy place from the vnclennes of the children of Israél, & from their trespasses of all their sinnes: so shal he do also for the Tabernacle of the Congregacion g placed with them, in the middes of their vnclennes.
17.* And there shal be no man in the Tabernacle of the Congregacion, when he goeth in to make an atonemét in the Holy place, vntil he come out, & haue made an atonement for him selfe, & for his housholde, and for all the Congregacion of Israél.
18.After, he shal go out vnto the h Altar that is before the Lord, & make a reconciliacion vpon it, & shal take of the blood of the bullocke, and of the blood of the goat, and put it vpon the hornes of the Altar round about:
19.So shal he sprinkle of the blood vpon it with his finger seuen times, and clense it, and halowe it from the vnclennes of the children of Israél.
20.¶ Whe he hathe made an éd of purging the Holy place, & the Tabernacle of the Congregacion, and the altar, then he shal bring the liue goat:
21.And Aarón shal put bothe his hands vpó the head of the liue goat, and confesse ouer him all the iniquities of the childré of Israél, & all their trespasses, in all their sinnes, putting the i vpó the head of the goat, and shal send him away (by the hand of a man appointed) into the wildernes.
22.So the goat shal beare vpon him all their iniquities into * the land that is not inhabited, and he shal let the goat go into the wildernes.
23.After, Aaron shal come into the Tabernacle of the Congregacion, and put of the linen clothes, which he put on whé he went into ŷ Holy place, & leaue thé there.
24.He shal wash also his flesh with water in k the Holy place, and put on his owne raiment, and come out, and make his burnt offring, and the burnt offring of the people, and make an atonement for him self, and for the people.
25.Also the fat of the sinne offring shal he burne vpon the Altar.
26.And he that caried forthe the goat, called the Scape goat, shal wash his clothes, and wash his flesh in water, and after that shal come into the hoste.
27.Also the bullocke for the sinne offring, and the goat for the sinne offring (whose blood was broght to make a recóciliació in ŷ Holy place) shal one * cary out without the hoste to be burnt in the fire, with their skins, and with their flesh, and with their doung.
28.And he that burneth them shal wash his clothes, and wash his flesh in water, and afterwarde come into the hoste.
29.¶ So this shalbe an ordinance for euer vnto you: the tenth day of the l seuenth moneth, ye shal m humble your soules, and do no worke at all, whether it be one of yͤ same countrey, or a stranger that soiourneth among you.
30.For yt day shal the Priest make an atonemét for you to clése you: ye shal be cleane from all your sinnes before the Lord.
31.This shalbe a n Sabbath of rest vnto you, and ye shal humble your soules, by an ordinance for euer.
32.And the Priest o whome he shal anoint, and whome he shal cósecrate (to minister in his fathers stede) shal make the atonement, and shal put on the linen clothes & holy vestments,
33.And shal purge the holy Sanctuarie and the Tabernacle of the Congregacion, & shal clense the Altar, & make an atonemét for the Priests and for all the people of the Congregacion.
34.And this shalbe an euerlasting ordináce vnto you, to make an atonement for the childré of Israél for all their sonnes * once a yere: and as the Lord cómanded Mosés, he did.
