Ezekiel 5

The ſigne of the heeres, whereby is ſignified the deſtruction of the people.
1.ANd thou ſonne of man, take thee a ſharpe knife, or take thee a barbours raſor & cauſe it to paſſe vpõ thine head, and vpon thy beard: then take thee balances to weigh, and deuide the heere.
2.Thou ſhalt burne with fyre the third part in the middes of the citie, whẽ the dayes of the ſiege are fulfilled, & thou ſhalt take the other third parte, & ſmite about it with a knife, and the laſt third parte thou ſhalt ſcatter in the winde, and I wil drawe out a ſworde after them.
3.Thou ſhalt alſo take thereof a fewe in nomber, and binde them in thy lappe.
4.Then take of them againe and caſt them into the middes of the fyre, & burne them in the fyre: for thereof ſhal a fyre come forthe into all the houſe of Iſraél.
5.Thus ſaith the Lord God, This is Ieruſalém: I haue ſet it in the middes of the nacions and countreys, that are rounde about her.
6.And ſhe hathe changed my iudgements into wickednes more then the nacions, & my ſtatutes more then the countreys, that are rounde about her: for thei haue refuſed my iudgements and my ſtatutes, and they haue not walked in them.
7.Therefore thus ſaith the Lord God, Becauſe your multitude is greater then the nacions that are rounde about you, and ye haue not walked in my ſtatutes, nether haue ye kept my iudgements: no, ye haue not done according to the iudgements of the nacions, that are rounde about you,
8.Therefore thus ſaith the Lord God, Beholde, I, euen I come againſt thee, and wil execute iudgement in the middes of thee, euen in the ſigt of the nacions.
9.And I wil do in thee, that I neuer did before, nether wil do anie more the like, becauſe of all thine abominacions.
10.For in the middes of thee, the fathers ſhal eat their ſonnes, and the ſonnes ſhal eat their fathers, and I wil execute iudgement in thee, and the whole rẽnant of thee wil I ſcatter into all the windes.
11.Wherefore, as I liue, ſaith the Lord God, Surely becauſe thou haſt defiled my Sanctuarie with all thy filthines, & wt all thine
12.abominacions, therefore wil I alſo deſtroy thee, nether ſhal mine eye ſpare thee, nether wil I haue anie pitie. The third parte of thee ſhal dye with the peſtilence, and with famine ſhal they be conſumed in the middes of thee: and another third parte ſhal fall by the ſworde rounde about thee: and I wil ſcatter the laſt third parte into all windes, and I wil drawe out a ſworde after them.
13.Thus ſhal mine angre be accompliſhed, & I wil cauſe my wrath to ceaſe in thẽ, & I wil be comforted: & the ſhal knowe, that I yͤ Lord haue ſpoken it in my zeale, when I haue accompliſhed my wrath in them.
14.Moreouer, I wil make thee waſte, and abhorred among the nacions, that are rounde about thee, & in the ſight of all that paſſe by.
15.So thou ſhalt be a reproche and ſhame, a chaſtifement and an aſtoniſhmẽt vnto the nacions, that are rounde about thee, when I ſhal execute iudgements in thee, in angre and in wrath, and in ſharpe rebukes: I the Lord haue ſpoken it.
16.When I ſhal ſend vpon thẽ the euil arrowes of famine, which ſhalbe for their deſtruction, and which I wil ſend to deſtroye you: and I wil encreaſe the famine vpon you, and wil breake your ſtaffe of bread.
17.So wil I ſend vpon you famine, and euil beaſts, and they ſhal ſpoyle thee, and peſtilence and blood ſhal paſſe through thee, & I wil bring the ſworde vpon thee: I the Lord haue ſpoken it.
