Ezekiel 22

Ieruſalém is reproued for crueltie. 25 Of the wicked doctrine of the falſe prophets and prieſts, and of their vnſaciable couetouſnes. 27 The tyrannie of rulers. 29 The wickednes of the people.
.MOreouer, the worde of the Lord came vnto me, ſaying,
.Now thou ſonne of mã, wilt thou iudge, wilt yu iudge this bloody citie? wilt thou ſhewe her all her abominacions?
.Then ſay, Thus ſaith the Lord God, The citie ſheddeth blood in the middes of it, that her time may come, and maketh idoles againſt her ſelf to pollute her ſelf.
.Thou haſt offended in thy blood, that thou haſt ſhed, and haſt polluted thy ſelf in thine idoles, which thou haſt made, and thou haſt cauſed thy dayes to drawe nere, & art come vnto thy terme: therefore haue I made thee a reproche to the heathẽ, & a mocking to all countreys.
.Thoſe that be nere, and thoſe that be farre from thee, ſhal mocke thee, which art vile in name & ſore in affliction.
.Beholde, the princes of Iſraél euery one in thee was ready to his power, to ſhed blood.
.In thee haue thei deſpiſed father & mother: in the middes of thee haue they oppreſſed the ſtranger: in thee haue thei vexed the fatherles and the widowe.
.Thou haſt deſpiſed mine holy things, & haſt polluted my Sabbaths.
.In thee are men that cary tales to ſhed blood: in thee are they that eat vpon the mountaines: in the middes of thee they commit abominacion.
.In thee haue thei diſcouered their fathers ſhame: in thee haue they vexed her that was polluted in her floures.
.And euery one hathe committed abominacion with his neighbours wife, and euery one hath wickedly defiled his daughter in law, & in thee hathe euery man forced his owne ſiſter, euen his fathers daughter.
.In thee haue they taken giftes to ſhed blood: thou haſt taken vſurie and the encreaſe, and thou haſt defrauded thy neighbours by extorcion, and haſt forgotten me, ſaith the Lord God.
.Beholde, therefore I haue ſmitten mine hands vpõ thy couetouſnes, that thou haſt vſed, and vpon the blood, which hathe bene in the middes of thee.
.Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be ſtrong, in the daies that I ſhal haue to do with thee? I the Lord haue ſpoken it, and wil do it.
.And I wil ſcatter thee amõg the heathẽ, and diſperſe thee in the countreis, and wil cauſe thy filthines to ceaſe from thee.
.And thou ſhalt take thine inheritance in thy ſelf in the ſight of the heathen, and thou ſhalt knowe, that I am the Lord.
.¶ And the worde of the Lord came vnto me, ſaying,
.Sonne of man, the houſe of Iſraél is vnto me as droſſe: all they are braſſe, & tynne, and yron, and lead in the middes of the fournace: thei are euen the droſſe of ſiluer.
.Therefore, thus ſaith the Lord God, Becauſe ye are all as droſſe, beholde, therefore I wil gather you in the middes of Ieruſalém.
.As they gather ſiluer and braſſe, & yron, and lead, & tynne into the middes of the fornace, to blowe the fyre vpon it to melt it, ſo wil I gather you in mine angre and in my wrath, and wil put you there & melt you.
.I wil gather you, I ſay, and blowe the fyre of my wrath vpon you, and you ſhal be melted in the middes thereof.
.As ſiluer is melted in the middes of the fournace, ſo ſhal ye be melted in the middes thereof, and ye ſhal knowe, that I the Lord haue powred out my wrath vpõ you.
.And the worde of the Lord came vnto me, ſaying,
.Sonne of man, ſay vnto her, Thou art the land, that is vncleane, & not rained vpon in the day of wrath.
.There is a conſpiracie of her Prophetes in the middes thereof like a roaring lyon, rauening the pray: thei haue deuoured ſoules: they haue taken the riches & precious thĩgs: thei haue made her many widdowes in the middes thereof.
.Her Prieſts haue broken my Law, & haue defiled mine holy things: they haue put no difference betwene the holy & prophane, nether diſcerned betwene the vncleane, and the cleane, and haue hid their eyes from my Sabbaths, and I am prophaned among them.
.Her princes in the middes thereof are like wolues, rauening ye pray to ſhed blood, and to deſtroye ſoules for their owne couetous lucre.
.And her Prophetes haue dawbed them with vntempered morter, ſeing vanities, & diuinĩg lies vnto them, ſaying, Thus ſaith the Lord God, when the Lord had not ſpoken.
.The people of the land haue violently oppreſſed by ſpoyling and robbing, & haue vexed the poore & the neady: yea, they haue oppreſſed the ſtranger againſt right.
.And I ſoght for a man among them, that ſhulde make vp the hedge, & ſtand in the gap before me for the land, that I ſhulde not deſtroy it, but I founde none.
.Therefore haue I powred out mine indignacion vpon them, & conſumed them with the fyre of my wrath: their owne waies haue I rendred vpon their heads, ſaith the Lord God.
