Ezekiel 19

1 The captiuitie of the Kings of Iudah ſignified by the lions whelpes, and by the lion. 10 The prosperitie of the citie of Ieruſalém that is past, and the miſerie thereof that is preſent.
1.THou alſo, take vp a lamentacion for the princes of Iſraél,
2.And ſaie, Wherefore laie thy mother as a lioneſſe among the lions? ſhe nouriſhed her yong ones among the lyons whelpes,
3.And ſhe broght vp one of her whelpes & it became a lion, and it learned to catch ye praie, & it deuoured men.
4.The nations alſo heard of him, and he was taken in their nettes, and thei broght him in chaines vnto the land of Egypt.
5.Now when ſhe ſawe, that ſhe had waited and her hope waſt loſt, ſhe toke another of her whelpes, and made him a lion.
6.Which went among the lions, & became a lion, and learned to catche the praie, and he deuoured men.
7.And he knewe their widowes, and he deſtroied their cities, and the land was waſted, and all that was therein by the noiſe of his roaring.
8.Then the nations ſet againſt him on euerie ſide of the countreis & laid their nettes for him: ſo he was taken in their pit.
9.And thei put him in priſon & in chaines and broght him to the King of Babél, & thei put him in holdes, that his voice ſhulde no more be heard vpon the mountaines of Iſraél.
10.Thy mother is like a vine in thy blood, planted by ye waters: ſhe broght forthe frute and branches by the abundant waters,
11.And ſhe had ſtrong rods for the ſcepters of them that beare rule, and her ſtature was exalted among the branches, and ſhe appeared in her height with ÿ multitude of her branches.
12.But ſhe was plucked vp in wrath: ſhe was caſt downe to the grounde, and the Eaſt winde dryed vp her frute: her branches were broken, and withered: as for the rod of her ſtrength, the fyre conſumed it.
13.And now ſhe is planted in the wildernes in a drye and thirſtie grounde.
14.And fyre is gone out of a rod of her branches, which hathe deuoured her frute, ſo that ſhe hathe no ſtrong rod to be a ſcepter to rule: this is a lamentacion and ſhalbe for a lamentacion.
