2 In Iudáh no righteous man found nether among the people nor the rulers. 19 Wherfore Iudáh is deſtroyed of the Caldeans.

1.Rvnne to & fro by the ſtretes of Ieruſalém, and beholde now, & knowe, & inquire in the open places thereof, if ye can finde a man, or if there be any that executeth iudgement, and ſeketh the trueth, and I wil ſpare ^ait.

2.For thogh thei ſay, The ^bLord liueth, yet do thei ſweare falſely.

3.O Lord, are not thine eies vpon y^e trueth? thou haſt ^dſtriken them, but thei haue not ſorowed: thou haſt cõſumed them, but thei haue refuſed to receiue correction: thei haue made their faces harder then a ſtone, and haue refuſed to returne.

4.Therefore I ſaid, Surely thei are poore, they are fooliſh, for thei knowe not the way of the Lord, nor y^e iudgement of their God.

5.I wil get me vnto the ^egreat men, and wil ſpeake vnto them: for thei haue knowen y^e way of the Lord, and the iudgement of their God: but theſe haue altogether broken the yoke, and burſt the bondes.

6.Wherefore ^fa lion out of the foreſt ſhal ſlay them, and a wolfe of the wildernes ſhal deſtroye them: a leoparde ſhal watche ouer their cities: euerie one that goeth out thence, ſhalbe torne ĩ pieces, becauſe their treſpaces are many, and their rebellions are encreaſed.

7.How ſhulde I ſpare thee for this? thy children haue forſakẽ me, & ^gſworne by them y^t are no gods: thogh I fed them to y^e ful, yet thei committed adulterie, and aſſembled them ſelues by companies in the harlottes houſes.

8.They roſe vp in y^e morning like fed horſes: for euerie man neyed after his neighbours wife.

9.Shal I not viſit for theſe things, ſaith the Lord? Shal not my ſoule be auenged on ſuche a nation, as this?

10.^hClime vp vpon their walles, and deſtroy them, but make not a ful end: ⁱtake away their batilmẽts, for thei are not the Lords.

11.For the houſe of Iſraél, and the houſe of Iudáh haue grieuouſly treſpaced againſt me, ſaith the Lord.

12.Thei haue ^kdenied the Lord, & ſaid, It is not he, nether ſhal y^t plague come vpon vs, nether ſhal we ſe ſworde nor famine.

13.And the Prophetes ſhalbe as ^lwinde, and the worde is ^mnot in them: thus ſhal it come vnto them.

14.Wherefore thus ſaith the Lord God of hoſtes, Becauſe ye ſpeake ſuche wordes, beholde, I wil put my wordes ⁿinto thy mouth, like a fyre, and this people ſhalbe as wodde, and it ſhal deuoure them.

15.Lo, I wil bring a nation vpon you ^ofrom far, ô houſe of Iſraél, ſaith the Lord, which is a mightie nacion, & an ancient nacion, a nacion whoſe language y^u knoweſt not, nether vnderſtandeſt what thei ſay.

16.Whoſe quiuer is as an ^popen ſepulchre: thei are all very ſtrong.

17.And thei ſhal eat thine harueſt and thy bread: thei ſhal deuoure thy ſonnes & thy daughters: thei ſhal eat vp thy ſhepe and thy bullocks: thei ſhal eat thy vines & thy figtrees: thei ſhal deſtroie with yͤ ſworde thy fenſed cities, wherein yͤ dideſt truſt.

18.Neuertheles at thoſe daies, ſaith the Lord, I wil not make a ful end of ^qyou.

19.And when ^*ye ſhal ſaie, Wherefore doeth yͤ Lord our God do theſe things vnto vs? then ſhalt ^rthou anſwer them, Like as ye haue forſaken me and ſerued ſtrange gods in your land, ſo ſhal ye ſerue ſtrangers in a land that is not yours.

20.Declare this in the houſe of Iaakób & publiſh it in Iudáh, ſaying,

21.Heare now this, ô fooliſh people, and ^"without vnderſtãding, which haue ^*eyes and ſe not, which haue eares & heare not.

22.Feare ye not me, ſaith the Lord? or wil ye not be afraid at my preſence, which haue placed the ſande for the bondes of the ſea by the perpetual decre that it can not paſſe it, and thogh the waues thereof rage, yet can thei not preuaile, thogh thei roare, yet can thei not paſſe ouer it?

23.But this people hathe an vnfaithful and rebellious heart: thei are departed & gone.

24.For they ſay not in their heart, Let vs now feare the Lord our God, that giueth raine bothe early & late in due ſeaſon: he reſerueth vnto vs the appointed wekes of the harueſt.

25.Yet your ^siniquities haue turned awaie theſe things, and your ſinnes haue hindred good things from you.

26.For among my people are founde wicked perſones, that laie waite as he that ſetteth ſnares: thei haue made a pit to catche mẽ.

27.As a cage is ful of birdes, ſo are their houſes ful of deceit: thereby thei are become great and waxen riche.

28.Thei are waxen fat & ſhining: thei do ouerpaſſe the dedes of yͤ wicked: ^*thei execute no iudgement, no not the iudgemẽt of the fatherles: yet thei ^tproſper, thogh thei execute no iudgement for the poore.

29.Shal I not viſite for theſe things, ſaith the Lord? or ſhal not my ſoule be auenged on ſuche a nation as this?

30.An horrible and filthie thing is committed in the land.

31.The ^uProphetes Prophecie lies, and the Prieſtes ^"receiue giftes in their hãdes, and my people delite therein. What wil ye then do in the end thereof?
