Ieremiáh cōforteth Barúch, aſſuring him that he ſhulde not periſh in the deſtruction of Ieruſalém.
1.THE worde that Ieremiáh the Prophet ſpake vnto aBarúch the ſonne of Neriáh, when he had writen theſe bwordes in a boke at the mouth of Ieremiáh, in the fourth yere of Iehoiakím the ſonne of Ioſiáh King of Iudáh, ſaying,
2.Thus ſaith the Lord God of Iſraél vnto thee, ô Barúch,
3.Thou dideſt ſay, Wo is me now: for the Lord hathe layed ſorowe vnto my ſorow: I cfainted in my mourning, and I can finde no reſt.
4.Thus ſhalt thou ſay vnto him, The Lord ſaith thus, Beholde, that which I haue buylt, wil I ddeſtroye, & that which I haue planted, wil I plucke vp, euen this whole land.
5.And ſekeſt ethou great things for thy ſelf? ſeke them not: for beholde. I wil bring a plague vpon all fleſh, ſaith the Lord: but thy life wil I giue thee for fa pray in all places, whether thou goeſt.
Barúch mooued with an inconſiderat zeale of Ieremiahs impriſonment, but chiefly for the deſtruction of the people, and the Temple, maketh this lamentacion, as Pſal. 6.6.
