1 The capitaines aſke counſel of Ieremiáh what they oght to do. 7 He admoniſheth the remnant of the people not to go into Egypt.
1.THen all the capitaines of the hoſte, and Iohanán the ſonne of Karéah, & Iezaniáh the ſonne of Hoſhaaiáh, and all the people from the leaſt vnto the moſte came,
4.Then Ieremiáh the Prophet ſaid vnto them, I haue heard you: beholde, I wil pray vnto the Lord your God according to your wordes, and whatſoeuer thing the Lord ſhal anſwer you, I wil declare it vnto you: I wil kepe nothing backe frõ you.
6.Whether it be good or euil, we wil obey the voyce of the Lord God, to whome we ſend thee that it may be wel with vs, when we obey the voyce of the Lord our God.
8.Then called he Iohanán the ſonne of Karéah, and all the capitaines of the hoſte, which were with him, and all the people from the leaſt to the moſte,
9.And ſaid vnto thẽ, Thus ſaith the Lord God of Iſraél, vnto whome ye ſent me to preſent your prayers before him,
13.But if ye ſay, We wil not dwell in this land, nether heare the voyce of the Lord your God,
14.Saying, Nay, but we wil go into the lãd of Egypt, where we ſhal ſe no warre, nor heare the ſounde of the trumpet, nor haue hungre of bread, and there wil we dwell,
15.(And now therefore heare the worde of the Lord, ye remnant of Iudáh: thus ſaith the Lord of hoſtes the God of Iſraél, If ye ſet your faces to entre into Egypt, and go to dwell there)
17.And all the men that ſet their faces to entre into Egypt to dwell there, ſhal dye by the ſworde, by the famine & by ye peſtilence, & none of them ſhal remaine nor eſcape frõ the plague, that I wil bring vpon them.
19.O ye remnant of Iudáh, the Lord hathe ſaid concerning you, Go not into Egypt: knowe certeinly that I haue admoniſhed you this day.
21.Therefore I haue this day declared it you, but you haue not obeyed the voyce of the Lord your God, nor anie thing for the which he hathe ſent me vnto you.
