He prophecieth the deſtruction of Ieruſalém for the contempt and deſpiſing of the worde of God.

1.THus ſaid the Lord, Go, and bye an earthen bottel of a potter, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the Prieſts,

2.And go forthe vnto y^e valleĩ of Ben-hin nóm, which is by the entrie of the Eaſt gate: & thou ſhalt preache there the wordes, that I ſhal tel thee,

3.And ſhalt ſay, Heare ye the worde of the Lord, ô ^aKings of Iudáh, and habitáts of Ieruſalém, Thus ſaith the Lord of hoſtes, y^e God of Iſraél, Beholde, I wil bring a plague vpon this place, the which whoſoeuer heareth, his eares ſhal ^btingle.

4.Becauſe they haue forſaken me, and prophaned this place, and haue burnt incenſe in it vnto other gods, whome nether they, nor their fathers haue knowen, nor the Kings of Iudáh (they haue filled this place alſo with the blood of innocents,

5.And they haue buylt the hie places of Báal, to burne their ſonnes with fyre for burnt offrings vnto Báal, which I ^ccommanded not, nor ſpake it, nether came it into my minde)

6.Therefore beholde, the dayes come, ſaith the Lord, that this place ſhal nomore be called ^dTópheth, nor the vallei of Benhinnóm, but the vallei of ſlaughter.

7.And I wil bring the counſel of Iudáh & Ieruſalém to noght in this place, and I wil cauſe thē to fall by the ſworde before their enemies, & by the hand of them that ſeke their liues: & their carkeiſes wil I giue to be meat for the foules of y^e heauen, and to the beaſtes of the field.

8.^*And I wil make this citie deſolate & an hiſſing, ſo that euerie one y^t paſſeth thereby, ſhalbe aſtoniſhed &hiſſe becauſe of all the plagues thereof.

9.^*And I wil fede thē with y^e fleſh of their ſonnes and with the fleſh of their daughters, and euerie one ſhal eat the fleſh of his friend in the ſiege and ſtreitnes, wherewith their enemies that ſeke their liues, ſhal holde them ſtreit.

10.Then ſhalt thou breake the bottle in the ſight of the men that go with thee,

11.And ſhalt ſaie vnto them, Thus ſaith the Lord of hoſtes, Euen ſo wil I breake this people & this citie, as one breaketh a ^epotters veſſel, that can not be made whole againe, & thei ſhal burye them in Tópheth til there be no place to burye.

12.Thus wil I do vnto this place, ſaith the Lord, and to the inhabitants thereof, and I wil make this citie like Tópheth.

13.For the houſes of Ieruſalém, and the houſes of the Kings of Iudáh ſhalbe defiled as the place of Tópheth, becauſe of all the ^fhouſes vpon whoſe rofes thei haue burnt incenſe vnto all the hoſte of heauen, and haue powred out drinke offrings vnto other gods.

14.Then came Ieremiáh from Tópheth, where the Lord had ſent him to prophecie, and he ſtode in the court of the Lords houſe, and ſaid to all the people,

15.Thus ſaith the Lord of hoſtes, the God of Iſraél, Beholde, I wil bring vpon this citie, and vpon all her townes, all the plagues y^t I haue pronounced againſt it, becauſe they haue hardened their neckes, and wolde not heare my wordes.
