Exodus 4

3 Moſés rod is turned into a ſerpēt. 6 His hand is leprous. 9 The water of the riuer is turned into blood. 14 Aarón is giuen to helpe Moſés. 21 God hardeneth Pharaoh. 25 His wife circūciſeth her ſonne. 27 Aarón meteth with Moſés, and thei come to the Iſraelites and are beleued.
1.THen Moſés anſwered, and ſaid, a But lo, thei wil not beleue me, nor hearken vnto my voyce: for thei wil ſay, The Lord hathe not appeared vnto thee.
2.And the Lord ſaid vnto him, What is yt in thine hād? And he anſwered, A rod.
3.Then ſaid he, Caſt it on the grounde. So he caſt it on the grounde, and it was turned into a ſerpent: and Moſés fled from it.
4.Againe the Lord ſaid vnto Moſés, Put forthe thine hād, and take it by the taile. Then he put forthe his hand and caught it, and it was turned into a rod in his hand.
5.Do this b that thei may beleue, that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abrahám, the God of Izhák, & the God of Iaakób hathe appeared vnto thee.
6.¶ And the Lord ſaid furthermore vnto him, Thruſt now thine hand into thy boſome. And he thruſt his hand into his boſome, and when he toke it out againe, beholde, his hand was * leprous as ſnowe.
7.Moreouer he ſaid, Put thine hand into thy boſome againe. So he put his hād into his boſome againe, & pluckt it out of his boſome, and beholde, it was turned againe as his other fleſh.
8.So ſhal it be, if thei wil not beleue thee, nether obey * the voyce of the firſt ſigne, yet ſhal thei beleue for the voyce of the ſeconde ſigne.
9.But if thei wil not yet beleue theſe two ſignes, nether obey vnto thy voyce, then ſhalt thou take of the c water of the riuer, and powre it vpon the drye land: ſo the water which thou ſhalt take out of the riuer, ſhalbe turned to blood vpon the drye land.
10.¶ But Moſés ſaid vnto the Lord, Oh my Lord, I am not eloquent, * nether at any time haue bene, nor yet ſince thou haſte ſpoken vnto thy ſeruant: but I am * ſlow of ſpeache and ſlow of tongue.
11.Then the Lord ſaid vnto him, Who hathe giuen the mouth to man? or who hathe made the dóme, or the deafe, or him yt ſeeth, or the blinde? haue not I the Lord?
12.Therefore go now, and * I will be with thy mouth, & wil teache thee what thou ſhalt ſay.
13.But he ſaid, Oh my Lord, ſend, I pray thee, by the * hand of him, whome y d ſhuldeſt ſend.
14.Then the Lord was e very angry with Moſés, and ſaid, Do not I knowe Aarón thy brother the Leuite, that he him ſelfe ſhal ſpeake? for lo, he cómeth alſo forthe to mete thee, and when he ſeeth thee, he wilbe glad in his heart.
15.Therefore thou ſhalt ſpeake vnto him, & f put theſe wordes in his mouth, and I wilbe with thy mouth, and wt his mouth, and wil teache you what ye oght to do.
16.And he ſhalbe thy ſpokeſman vnto the people : he ſhalbe, euen he ſhalbe as thy mouth, & thou ſhalt be to him as g God.
17.Moreouer yu ſhalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou ſhalt do miracles.
18.¶ Therefore Moſés went and returned to Iethró his father in lawe, & ſaid vnto him, I pray thee, let me go, and returne to my * brethren, which are in Egypt, and ſe whether thei be yet aliue. Then Iethró ſaid to Moſés, Go in peace.
19.(For the Lord had ſaid vnto Moſés in Midián, Go, returne to Egypt: for thei are all dead which went about to kil thee)
20.Then Moſés toke his wife, and his ſonnes, and * put them on an aſſe, and returned towarde the land of Egypt, & Moſés toke the h rod of God in his hand.
21.And the Lord ſaid vnto Moſés, When thou art entred and come into Egypt againe, ſe that thou do all the wonders before Pharaóh, which I haue put in thine hand: but I wil i harden his heart, and he ſhal not let the people go.
22.Then thou ſhalt ſay to Pharaóh, Thus saith the Lord, Iſraél is my ſonne, euē my k firſt borne.
23.Wherefore I ſay to thee, Let my ſonne go, that he may ſerue me: if thou refuſe to let him go, beholde, I wil ſlay thy ſonne, euen thy firſt borne.
24.¶ And as he was by the way in the ynne, the Lord met him, and l wolde haue killed him.
25.Then Zipporáh toke a ſharpe knife, and m cut away the fore ſkinne of her ſonne, and caſt it at his fete, and ſaid, Thou art in dede a bloodie houſband vnto me.
26.So * he departed frō him. Then ſhe ſaid, O bloodie houſband (becauſe of the circumciſion)
27.¶ Then the Lord ſaid vnto Aarón, Go mete Moſés in the wildernes. And he wēt and met him in the * Mount of God, and kiſſed him.
28.Then Moſés tolde Aarón all the wordes of the Lord, who had ſent him, and all the ſignes wherewith he had charged him.
29.¶ So went Moſés and Aarón, & gathered all the Elders of the children of Iſraél.
30.And Aarón tolde all the wordes, which the Lord had ſpoken vnto Moſés, and he did the miracles in the ſight of the people,
31.And the n people beleued, and when they heard that the Lord had viſited yͤ children of Iſraél, and had loked vpon their tribu laciō, they bowed downe, & worſhipped.

God beareth with Moſés doutig, becauſe he was not al together without faith.

This power to worke miracles was to confirme his doctrine, & to aſſure him of his vocation.
