Exodus 23

2 Not to followe the multitude 13 Not to make mention of the ſtrange gods. 14 The thre ſolemne feaſtes. 20 23 The Angel is promiſed to leade the people. 25 What God promiſeth, if thei obey him 29 God wil caſt out the Canaanites by litle and litle, and why.
1.THou ſhalt not " receiue a falſe tale, nether ſhalt thou put thine hãd with the wicked, to be a " falſe witnes.
2.¶ Thou ſhalt not followe a multitude to do euil, nether a agre in a controuerſie to decline after many & ouerthrow the trueth.
3.¶ Thou ſhalt not eſteme a poore man in his cauſe.
4.¶ If thou mete thine enemies oxe, or his aſſe going a ſtraye, thou ſhalt b bring him to him againe.
5.If thou ſe thine enemies c aſſe lying vnder his burden, wilt thou ceaſe to helpe him? thou ſhalt helpe him vp againe with it.
6.¶ Thou ſhalt not ouerthrowe the right of thy poore in his ſute.
7.Thou ſhalt kepe thee farre from a falſe matter, and ſhalt not ſlay the d innocent and the righteous: for I wil not iuſtifie a wicked man.
8.* Thou ſhalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the " wiſe, & peruerteth ye wordes of the righteous.
9.¶ Thou ſhalt not oppreſſe a ſtranger: for ye knowe the e heart of a ſtranger, ſeing ye were ſtrangers in the land of Egypt.
10.* Moreouer, ſix yeres thou ſhalt ſowe thy land, and gather the frutes thereof,
11.But the ſeuenth yere thou ſhalt let it reſt and lye ſtil, that the poore of thy people may eat, and what thei leaue, the beaſtes of the field ſhal eat. In like maner thou ſhalt do with thy vineyarde, & with thine oliue trees.
12.* Six daies thou ſhalt do thy worke, and in the ſeuẽth day thou ſhalt reſt, that thine oxe, and thine aſſe may reſt, & the ſonne of thy maid and the ſtranger may be refreſhed.
13.And ye ſhal take hede to all things that I haue ſaid vnto you: and ye ſhal make f no mencion of the name of other gods, nether ſhal it be heard out of thy mouth.
14.¶ Thre times thou ſhalt kepe a feaſt vnto me in the yere.
15.Thou ſhalt kepe the feaſt g of vnleauened bread: thou ſhalt eat vnleauened bread ſeuen daies, as I cõmanded thee, in the ſeaſon of the moneth of Abíb: for in it thou cameſt out of Egypt: & none ſhal appeare before me emptie:
16.The h feaſt alſo of the harueſt of the firſt frutes of thy labours, which thou haſt ſowen in the field: and the i feaſt of gathering frutes in the end of the yere, when thou haſt gathered in thy labours out of the field.
17.Theſe thre times in the yere ſhal all thy men children appeare before the Lord Iehouáh.
18.Thou ſhalt not offre the blood of my ſacrifice with k leauened bread: nether ſhal the fat of my ſacrifice remaine vntil the morning.
19.The firſt of the firſt frutes of thy land thou ſhalt bring into ye houſe of the Lord thy God: yet ſhalt thou not ſeeth a kid in his l mothers milke.
20.¶ Beholde, I ſend an Angel before thee, to kepe thee in the way, and to bring thee to the place which I haue prepared.
21.Beware of him, and heare his voyce, & prouoke him not: for he wil not ſpare your miſdedes, becauſe my m Name is in him.
22.But if thou hearken vnto his voyce, and do all that I ſpeake, then I wil be an enemie vnto thine enemies, and wil afflict them that afflict thee.
23.For mine Angel * ſhal go before thee, and bring thee vnto the Amorites, & the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hiuites, and the Iebuſites, and I wil deſtroye them.
24.Thou ſhalt not bowe downe to their gods, nether ſerue them, nor do after the workes of thẽ: but n vtterly ouerthrowe them, and breake in pieces their images.
25.For ye ſhal ſerue the Lord your God, & he ſhal bleſſe thy o bread and thy water, & I wil take all ſickenes away frõ the middes of thee.
26.* There ſhal none caſt their frute nor be barren in thy land: the nombre of thy dayes wil I fulfil.
27.I wil ſend my p feare before thee, & wil deſtroy all the people amõg whome thou ſhalt go: and I wil make all thine enemies turne their backes vnto thee:
28.And I wil ſend hornets before thee, which ſhal driue out the Hiuites, the Canaanites, and the Hittites from thy face.
29.I wil not caſt them out from thy face in one yere, leſt the land growe to a wildernes: and the beaſtes of the field multiplie againſt thee.
30.By By litle and litle I wil driue them out from thy face vntil thou encreaſe, and inherite the land.
31.And I wil make thy coaſtes fró the red Sea vnto the ſea q of the Philiſtims, and from the r deſert vnto the s Riuer: for I wil deliuer the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and thou ſhalt driue them out from thy face.
32.* Thou ſhalt make no couenant with thé, nor with their gods:
33.Nether ſhal they dwel in thy land, left they make thee ſinne againſt me: for if ỹ ſerue then gods, ſurely it ſhal be thy ^ deſtruction.
