Exodus 19

The Iſraelites come to Sinái. 5 Iſraél is choſen from among all other nations. 8 The people promes to obey God. 12 He that toucheth the hil dyeth. 16 God appeareth vnto Moſés vpon the mount in thunder and lightning.
.IN the a third moneth, after the childré of Iſraél were gone out of the land of Egypt, the ſame b day came they into the wildernes of Sinái.
.For they departed from Rephidím, and came to yͤ deſert of Sinái, & ca̅ped in the wildernes: euen there Iſraél camped before the mount.
.* But Moſés we̅t vp vnto God, for yͤ Lord had called out of the mount vnto him, ſaying, Thus ſhalt thou ſay to the houſe of c Iaakób, and tel the children of Iſraél,
.* Ye haue ſene what I did vnto the Egyptians, and how I caryed you vpon d egles wings, and haue broght you vnto me.
.Now therefore * if ye wil heare my voyce in dede, & kepe my couenát, thé ye ſhalbe my chief treaſure aboue all people, * thogh all the earth be mine.
.Ye ſhalbe vnto me alſo a kingdome of * Prieſtes, and an holy nation. Theſe are the wordes which thou ſhalt ſpeake vnto the children of Iſraél.
.¶ Moſés then came & called for the Elders of the people, and propoſed vnto thé all theſe things, which the Lord commanded him.
.And the people anſwered altogether, & ſaid, * All that the Lord hathe co̅máded, we wil do. And Moſés reported the wordes of the people vnto the Lord.
.And yͤ Lord ſaid vnto Moſés, Lo, I come vnto thee in a thicke cloude, that the people may heare, whiles I talke with thee, & that they may alſo beleue thee for euer. (for Moſés had tolde the wordes of the people vnto the Lord)
.Moreouer the Lord ſaid vnto Moſés, Go Go to the people, and e ſanctifie them to daie and to morowe, and let them waſh their clothes.
.And let thé be ready on the third daie: for the third daie the Lord wil come downe in the ſight of all the people vpon mount Sinái:
.And thou ſhalt ſet markes vnto the people rounde about, ſaying, Take hede to your ſelues that ye go not vp to the moút, nor touche the bordre of it: whoſoeuer toucheth the * mount, ſhal ſurely dye.
.No hand ſhal touche it, but he ſhal be ſtoned to death, or ſtricken through with dartes: whether it be beaſt or man, he ſhal not liue: when the * horne bloweth long, they ſhal come vp * into the mountaine.
.¶ Then Moſés went downe from the mount vnto the people, & ſanctified the people, and they waſhed their clothes.
.And he ſaid vnto the people, Be ready on the third daie, and come not at your f wiues.
.And the third daie, whé it was morning, there was thúders & lightnings, & a thicke cloude vpon the mount, & the found of the trumpet exceeding loude, ſo that all the people, that was in the campe, was afraid.
.Then Moſés broght the people out of the tents to mete with God, & they ſtode in the nether part of the mount.
.* And mount Sinái was all on ſmoke, becauſe the Lord came downe vpon it in fire, and the ſmoke thereof aſcended, as the ſmoke of a fornace, and all the mount g trembled excedingly.
.And when the ſound of the trúpet blewe long, and waxed louder and louder, Moſés ſpake, and God anſwered him by h voyce.
.(For the Lord came downe vpon moút Sinái on the top of the mount) and whé the Lord called Moſés vp into the top of the mount, Moſés went vp.
.Then the Lord ſaid vnto Moſés, Go downe, charge ÿ people, that they breake not their boúdes, to go vp to the Lord to gaze, lest manie of them periſh.
.And let the " Prieſts alſo which come to the Lord be ſanctified, lest the Lord " deſtroye them.
.And Moſés ſaid vnto the Lord, The people can not come vp into the mount Sinái: for thou haſt charged vs, ſaying, Set markes on the mountaine, & ſanctifie it.
.And the Lord ſaid vnto him, Go, get thee downe, and come vp, thou, & Aarón with thee: but let not the i Prieſtes & the people breake their boúdes to come vp vnto the Lord, lest he deſtroye them.
.So Moſés went downe vnto the people, and tolde them.
