Psalms 75

1 The faithful do praise the Name of the Lord, 2 Which shal come to judge at the time appointed, 8 When the wicked shalbe put toconfusion, and drink of the cup of his wrath. 10 Their pride shalbe abated, and the righteous shalbe exalted to honour.
¶ To him that excelleth. aDestroye not. A psalm or song committed to Asaph.
1.We wil praise thee, ô God, we wil praise thee, for thy Name is near: therefore bthey wil declare thy wonderous works.
2.cWhen I shal take a convenient time, I wil judge righteously.
3.The earth and all the inhabitans thereof are dissolved: but I wil establish the pillars dof it. Sélah.
4.I said unto the foolish, Be not so foolish, and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn.
5.Lift not up your ehorn on high, neither speak with a stiff neck.
6.For to come to preferment is neither from the East, nor from the West, nor from the South,
7.But God is the judge: he maketh low and he maketh high.
8.For in the hand of the Lord is a fcup, and the wine is red: it is full mixt, and he powreth out of the same: surely all the wicked of the earth shal wring out and drink the dregs thereof.
9.But I wil declare for ever, and sing praises unto the God of Jaakób.
10.All the horns of the wicked also wil I break: but the horns of the grighteous shalbe exalted.

He declareth how the faithful shall ever have just occasion to praise God, forasmuch as in their need they shall feel his power at hand to help them.

When I see my time (says God) to help your miseries, I will come and set all things in good order.

Though all things be brought to ruin, yet I can restore and preserve them.
5-e.
The Prophet warneth the wicked that they would not set themselves against God’s people, seeing that God at his time destroys them that rule wickedly.
8-f.
God’s wrath is compared to a cup of strong and delicate wine, wherewith the wicked are make so drunk, that by drinking till they come to the very dregs, they are utterly destroyed.
10-g.
The godly shall better prosper by their innocent simplicity, then the wicked shall by all their craft, and subtlety.
