Becauſe the Church is alwaie ful of hypocrites, 8 Which do imagine that God wilbe worſhiped with outward ceremonies onely, without the heart: and eſpecially the Iewes were of this opinion, becauſe of their figures and ceremonies of the Law, thinking that their ſacrifices were ſufficient. 21 Therefore the Prophet doeth reproue this groſſe errour, & pronounceth the Name of God to be blaſphemed, where holines is ſet in ceremonies. 23 For he declareth the worſhip of God to be ſpiritual, whereof are two principal partes, inuocation, & thankeſgiuing.
.And the heauens ſhal declare his righteouſnes: for God is Iudge him ſelf. Sélah.
.Heare, ô my people, & I wil ſpeake: heare, ô Iſraél, and I wil teſtifie vnto thee: for I am God, euen thy God.
.I wil take no bullocke out of thine houſe, nor goates out of thy foldes.
.I knowe all the foules on the mountaines: & the wilde beaſts of the field are mine.
.If I be hungrie, I wil not tel thee: for the worlde is mine, and all that therein is.
.And call vpon me in the daie of trouble: ſo wil I deliuer thee, & thou ſhalt glorifie me.
.Thou giueſt thy mouth to euil, & with thy tongue thou forgeſt deceite.
.Oh conſider this, ye that forget God, leſt I teare you in pieces, & there be none that can deliuer you.
