Psalms 28

1 Being in great fear and heaviness of heart to see God dishonoured by the wicked, he desireth to be rid of them, 4 And cryeth for vengeance against them, and at length assureth him self, that God hath heard his praier. 9 Unto whose tuition he commendeth all the faithful.
1.Unto thee, ô Lord, do I crye: ô my strength, be not deaf toward me, lest, if thou answer me not, I be alike them that go down into the pit.
2.Hear the voice of my petitions, when I crye unto thee, when I hold up mine hands toward thine bholy Oracle.
3.cDraw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity: which speak friendly to their neighbours, when malice is in their hearts.
4.dReward them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their inventions: recompense them after the work of their hands: render them their reward.
5.For they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands: therefore ebreak them down, and build them not up.
6.fPraised be the Lord, for he hath heard the voice of my petitions.
7.The Lord is my strength and my shield: mine heart trusted in him, and I was helped: therefore mine heart shal rejoyce, and with my song wil I praise him.
8.The Lord is gtheir strength, and he is the strength of the deliverances of his anointed.
9.Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and exalt them for ever.

Notes

1-a.
He counts himself as a dead man, till God show his favour toward him, and grant him his petition.
2-b.
He used this outward means to help the weakness of his faith: for in that place was the Arke, and there God promised to show the tokens of his favour.
3-c.
Destroy not the good with the bad.
4-d.
He thus prays in respect of God's glory, and not for his own cause, being assured, that God would punish the persecutors of his Church.
5-e.
Let them be utterly destroyed, as Mal. 1.4.
6-f.
Because he felt the assurance of God's help in his heart, his mouth was opened to sing his praises.
8-g.
Meaning, his soldiers, who were as means, by whom God declared his power.
