Psalms 141

1 David being grievously persecuted Under Saul, only fleeth unto God to have succour, 3 Desiring him to bridle his affections, that he maie paciently abide til God take vengeance of his enemies.
1.O Lord, I acall upon thee: haste thee unto me: hear my voice, when I crye unto thee.
2.Let my praier be directed in thy sight as incense, and the blifting up of mine hands as an evening sacrifice.
3.Set a watche, ô Lord, before my mouth, and keep the cdoor of my lips.
4.Incline not mine heart to evil, that I should commit wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their ddelicates.
5.Let the righteous smite me: for that is a benefit: and let ehim reprove me, and it shalbe a precious oil, that shal not break mine head: for within a while I shal even fpraie in their miseries.
6.When their judges shalbe cast down in stonie places, they shal ghear my words, for they are swete.
7.Our bones lie scattered at the hgrave’s mouth, as he that heweth wood or diggeth in the earth.
8.But mine eyes loke unto thee, ô Lord God: in thee is my trust: leave not my soul destitute.
9.Kepe me from the snare, which thei have laied for me, and from the grennes of the workers of iniquity.
10.Let the wicked fall into ihis nettes ktogether, whiles I escape.

Notes

1-a.
He shows that there is none other refuge in our necessities, but only to flee unto God for comfort of soul.
2-b.
He means his earnest zeal and jesture, which he used in prayer: alluding to the sacrifices, which were by God’s commandment offered in the old Law.
3-c.
He desires God to keep his thoughts and ways either from thinking or executing vengeance.
4-d.
Let not their prosperity allure me to be wicked as they are.
5-e.
He could abide all corrections, that came of a loving heart.
5-f.
By patience I shall see the wicked so sharply handled, that I shall for pity pray for them.
6-g.
The people, which followed their wicked rulers in persecuting the Prophet, shall repent and turn to God, when they see their wicked rulers punished.
7-h.
Here appears that David was miraculously delivered out of many deaths, as 2 Cor. 1.9.
10-i.
Into God’s nets, whereby he catches the wicked in their own malice.
10-k.
So that none of them escape.
