Psalms 135

1 He exhorteth all the faithful, of what estate so ever they be, to praise God for his marvelous works, 12 And specially for his graces toward his people, wherein he hathe declared his majesty, 15 To the confusion of all idolaters and their idols.
¶ Praise ye the Lord.
1.Praise the Name of the Lord: ye servants of the Lord, praise him.
2.Ye that stand in the aHouse of the Lord, and in the bcourts of the House of our God,
3.Praise ye the Lord: for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his Name: for it is a comelie thing.
4.For the Lord hathe cchosen Jaakób to him self, and Israél for his chief treasure.
5.For I knowe that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.
6.Whatsoever pleased the Lord, that ddid he in heaven and in earth, in the sea, and in all the depths.
7.He bringeth up the clouds from the ends of the earth, & maketh the *lightnings with the rain: he draweth forth the wind out of his treasures.
8.*He smote the first born of Egypt both of man and beast.
9.He hathe sent tokens and wonders into the middes of thee, ô Egypt, upon Pharaóh, and upon all his servants.
10.*He smote manie nations, and slewe mightie Kings:
11.As Sihón King of the Amorites, and Og King of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canáan:
12.And e gave their land for an inheritance, even an inheritance unto Israél his people.
13.Thy Name, ô Lord, endureth for ever: ô Lord, thy remembrance is from generation to generation.
14.For the Lord wil fjudge his people, and be pacified towards his servants.
15.The gidoles of the heathen are silver and gold, even the work of men’s hands.
16.Thei have a mouth, and speak not: thei have eyes and se not.
17.Thei have ears and hear not, neither is there anie breath in their mouth.
18.Thei that make them, are like unto them: so are all that trust in them.
19.Praise the Lord, ye house of Israél: praise the Lord, ye house of Aarón.
20.Praise the Lord, ye house of Leví: ye that fear the Lord, praise the Lord.
21.Praised be the Lord out of Zión, which dwelleth in Jerusalém. Praise ye the Lord.

Meaning the people: for the people and Levites had their courts, which were places of the Temple separate.

That is, has freely loved the posterity of Abraham.

He joins God’s power with his will, to the intent that we should not separate them: and hereby he wills God’s people to depend on his power, which he confirms by examples.

By showing what punishment God appoints for the heathen idolaters, he warns his people to beware the like offence, seeing that idols have neither power nor life, and that their deliverance came not by idols, but by the mighty power of God read Ps. 115.4.
